Raising children that are not biological yours is not for faint heart. No matter what you do for them, they always think their parent will do better and this is thesame parent that couldn’t cater for them. My mum raised kids that are not related to us and also cousins, sometimes she will even deprive us her biological children things to take care of them. Everything she did wasn’t enough. One left and couldn’t even spend 6months with her own mother and this is a girl that my mother raised for 17years.
I’ve not finished watching the video, but I just have to say that you are actually one of the most straightforward UA-camrs that I watch.
When they want to leave they start behaving differently. That’s how they all are.
I remember few years ago when you were joking about japa you said a family of 6, people were asking how you had 4 kids or if you were expecting, you said wherever your family goes Monica goes too

As someone who was apart from my parents for a while….. at some point I became rebellious towards my aunty who didn’t treat me bad. I was hurt and bitter at life and seeing my aunty, her husband and children all happy was a constant reminder of what I didn’t have……
Most of the time we focus only on the reaction ( good or bad) rather than the source of the reaction. Meaning what is the underlying message behind this reaction. ( this is also a big problem in marriages)
I understand your perspective and frustration and honestly from my experience I can also understand the girl’s reaction ( I might be wrong).
For me the only part I thought was harsh……. Was when you said something along the lines of
“I was angry that I still have to give her food”
this is not from a place of judgement because even me and everybody else has fallen short and misspoken.

I told them on that video that i can totally relate. An orphan who lived with me for 2 years before leaving due to drama couldn't stay with her mom or elder siblings for a week. It's been 4 years now, she is still with my mom because her family couldn't take what she dish

Some people are just so impossible,it has happened to me and I did try to react or explain . The truth is that she has gotten what she want and she felt she has arrived then to gain her freedom, she need to be rude. Yet some people are talking bulshit . You don't owe any one an apology or explanation.
I understand 100 this particular situation because I have dealt with it twice. What I don’t understand is why you’ll intentionally want to spoil a good relationship because you want to leave. I remember recently on Twitter. A very popular influencer was being very insulting to "Igbo" women and Judgy to mothers with help, Lo and Behold someone who knew him to his dormot outed him, posted a picture of his heavily physically abused help so bad this influencer was arrested.

What is laughable is how some people assume the insider position by commenting as if they know all the inside stories. This is why society built orphanages and charities. There is a psychological imbalance with adopted children. They will comeback in 20 years. However for Nigerian women we need to deforce ourselves from being the saviour and the kind woman. We can focus on being respectful and being kind to ourselves and give our kindness to charity and orphanages. Nigerian women carry to much on our heads. 2024 is the year of peace and focus for Nigerian women. We need to learn to disconnect from external people and focus on reducing emotional burdens. Who hasn't experienced this would never understand. The attitude from them no be here o. When this happened to me all i know is that i wanted her to go that same minute. My mental health was more important.
I don’t understand people. So if she was your daughter won’t she do chores. I am a first daughter and I did chores more than anyone.
I believe most of the bad comments i saw in that video were from new subscribers that don't know you or have not been following you for long. I am someone who has had to stay with people and i can tell you i understand how uncomfortable the vibe in the house was, when ever i needed to leave a place i usually just tell the person that i want to leave and give them a reason. I still have great relationships with all of them.
See nobody is going to live in my house anymore. I used to hand a live in madam lol. After she left, I've chosen to employ someone who comes and goes. Everybody stay in your house.

It’s not Monica’s fault that she was born in a poor family.
Yes, Monica received basic provisions, but you are refusing to acknowledge the emotional and psychological damage that comes with being seen as a "privileged servant". Demanding her to be grateful for having things her fellow “slaves” do not have. Agency and freedom are fundamental needs of every human being.
Children, regardless of background, deserve emotional and psychological support. Consider putting yourself in Monica's shoes and realise you’re the adult in this situation. What you did was wrong. You’ve just blasted her in front of millions of people. It is unfair. You’re at least two decades older than her.

I don't know all that transpired in your household and based on what we know about you from your channel, you probably treated her well. I think what did it for me was the carelessness in how you spoke about her and I'm sure it's from a place of anger, which is totally understandable, but wasn't good. Saying things like good riddance, I can't wait for her to leave, and I'm tired of feeding her. I know we're not perfect and neither am I. But sometimes we have to choose our words wisely, especially in public platforms. Remember that these videos never go away.
And be honest, would you say those harsh words about your biological children in a public space? Children misbehave all the time, and if they are of age, parents just allow them to leave but still care and check up on them. Will that be done for Monica? I sometimes think we don't understand what adoption and guardianship is. If you can't fully adopt/treat a child like your own, you shouldn't take them in in the first place. No matter what, you have to treat them like your own, even if they misbehave. They can leave and live on their own, or in this case, go back to the village, but you can't give up on them, just like you wouldn't give up or cut contact with your children.
Also, I wonder what the intention was when she was brought into the house at a tender age? From what I've gathered, it looks like she was brought in to do things in the house in exchange of school and food, which is not good even if the the situation was better than where she came from and the chores were fewer. It's the intention behind it. That one I blame the government for not providing the basics so children won’t have to work to eat and attend good schools. Most Nigerians don’t just bring a random stranger that is not related to them in out of the kindness of their hearts; it’s always in exchange for something. Her acting out could be as a result of resentment, but these are just assumptions. Were discussions had with her about why she was misbehaving?
Lastly, if she wasn’t a help and was part of the family, why were you talking about replacing her in your previous video. Doesn’t that imply that she was indeed a help?
