Jesùs, This is one of the best tutorials i have seen to date on Photo Restoration. A subject I have just started. I would encourage you to compile more tutorials on Restoration as your methods are the best. Thanks
This channel is a great source of forehead-slapping moments - like, it takes every little thing I picked up along the way in years of Ps, and actually makes it all come together and make sense. Thanks Jesùs!
Amazing technique! That really shows how to understand an image and its components. Maybe the thinking behind the fix is the most valuable thing in here, you should do that more often! Usually tutorials don't show off the train of thought behind the solution and, thus, takes a little bit of the overall context out of picture. The way you did it was perfect! Thanks a lot for sharing.
One of your best tutorials!,,,highlights the amazing depth of your PS knowledge and your keen analytical approach to problem solving in PS. Truly inspiring!
What a great tutorial. I've "solved" that sort of problem over the years and they were all patchwork. Your methods are smooth and easily followed! THANKS!
You are the first person I have seen do or say anything about the Lab color space since I took several classes with Dam Margulis at some Photoshop Worlds. It's a powerful color space but one hard to understand and use with ease. Mr. Margulis said it was like the difference between driving a regular Ford car and a Ford ready for a NASCAR track.
Its amazing to know this technique even when I don't have any use of it. But i like to watch full video and in the end i got something i didn't know before. Thanks a lot for teaching us these things. 💖💖💖😊
Two words describe this video: “Complicated Magic.” I would probably need to watch this 50 times before trying to achieve the same results! You must be related the magician David Copperfield!
3:26 When I was first watching this, he was going to select the masked selection, I was like "oh oh, he's going to do it, he's going to do it!!" (Deletes) Oooooohww, blown away,,, in my mind Jesús: 🎶they see me rollin.... God bless you man! Have learned so much from you. Respect...
Wonderful technique and think it wil be useful for some photos I'm restoring. Would you please offer more videos on restoring old photos? These sometimes need different techniques like this, where your photo is a scan of a print with messed up channels, or stains, fading of colors or blotches of uneven fading. Also are their other ways to remove paper textures? FFT filter doesn't always work. Thank you.
Great Job, I was wondering when you were going to bring up the side by side view. Dan Margulis was the man back in the early PS days. One should really be selective with image restoration, most aren't worth the time (IMO).
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Oh wow! Thank you so much for that information mate. I wasn’t expecting you to know. 😂👌 Love your videos and can’t wait for the next one 🥃
Amazing tutorial. I have a question to ask you sir: do you also agree that levels is completely useless in photoshop as the curves can do all what levels can and curves can do even far more than levels (of course in 8-Bit)
It's easier... curves can even do the work of color balance still its there.. prefferd options are used. Curves is the master.. but its quite tricky for some
Not at all. The Levels adjustment is not useless. Just because a tool can do everything else another tool can, it doesn't make it useless. For Example, the Camera Raw filter is more powerful and can do the same thing (and more) than many adjustments layers. Does that make adjustment layers useless? Of course, not. Also, Curves can technically do the same job as a few other adjustment layers like the Invert adjustment, Color Balance, and more. But it doesn't make those adjustment layers useless. While the Curves adjustment is extremely powerful, the important thing to keep in mind is that those adjustments do what they do in different ways. And in some cases, one might be better/easier/faster than the other for your desired outcome. I would learn both and use either when appropriate. For example, I think it's easier/faster to adjust the black and white output levels using Levels. Even adjusting the gamma in some cases might be easier/faster in Levels.
I had hoped to learn how to improve the scans of my old slides and negatives beyond what I picked up from UA-cam a few years ago. I’m not that interested in fixing problems, here I would just accept that it’s a difficult scan. Would it be possible to take us through old color slides with even color cast and show how to get optimum results in terms of (individual) color restoration, noise and sharpness?
@@PhotoshopTrainingChannel Thanks for the offer! I looked around on your website and only found a contact page. Should I send an e-mail and await a reply before I can attach a file?
@@bennielaars You can link to a dropbox/google drive or another place if you like. Or I can reply and then you can attach. FYI I'm a little slow replying emails! Thanks!
Thanks a lot! But what if you completely copy the Lightness channel into channels a and b, and then somehow modify them? After all, the brightness channel is visually the cleanest ))
That will not work as smoothly as you think. In some cases, you might have to invert the channel, and still do dodging and burning. In this example, doing that in the "a" channel wouldn't have worked without first doing a lot of work to get it to match. it was easier/faster to dodge and burn.
I'm wondering how painting with adjacent colors on a duplicate "color" layer would work for this? I've found that useful for realigning color splotches.
I agree with "Jim H" below. I'm lost. Would there be away to learn these techniques in a slower format? My wife and I are in the midst of fixing hundreds of old photos.
Does anyone know where to find the correct folder to install PS plugins on Windows 10? I went to C>Program Files>Adobe but there is no Adobe Photoshop 2021 folder.

Thank you, Bijoy Exclusive - Learn Graphic Design!
thanks for bringing Dan Margulis' LAB techniques to a wider audience.
Dan's the man! I've given him shouts out in my previous Lab videos. His books are still relevant today and no one has written anything better since.
As always: first like for not forgetting it full of excitement after watching. Then watch. Extremely helpful as all content here in this channel.

As a pilot, I’m more curious if the engine is a P3 Orion 🤷♂️😂
All I know is that it is a C-130/E aircraft (and 2nd last flight for any C-130/E in the Royal Australian Air Force). Or so I was told. lol
