Just as a recommendation, you should activate the cover Commander, then press skill. 3. Especially with the veterancy you chose. It makes them stack up on the enemy quite well. I also would like to say that they are actually really good even after tier 3 lock. To be fair I have my doctrined out the wazoo (Plus one charge Target, minus 40% damage taken while charging, iron sides and another 12% damage taken while charging, etc). They do legitimately do a lot of damage and are pretty darn fast for a shock troop. They feel a really good niche for their leadership
Once you have full mastery, top veterancy line is better for damage IF you get the right doctrines (+1 charge, charge damage + 450 Block Break, 40% damage reduction whilst charging, ironsides + 14% damage reduction while charging, damage to infantry + 250 Block); they will also be tankier like that. That's how you get 100+ kills with them now, and they'll do ok out of the tier lock later. This is because you'll want them to be in both Prefecture Drill and Cover Commander (+ironsides) at the same time as much as possible, and the last Mastery node makes them charge when they are in Prefecture Drill. Top veterancy line allows you the have them in Perfecture Drill nearly all the time, with just a few seconds cooldown. With your actual setting, and your veterancy line, the best option is NOT to take the last Mastery node. The way you have them now, when you press Perfecture Drill they are doing (low) charge damage instead of doing full Drill damage. Get rid of the last Mastery node and you'll notice they'll do a little better. Change them to top line once you have the right doctrines; and then get the last Mastery node
I honestly believe they got shadow nerfed when they received their mastery update, it may be the other units getting buffed but they are definitely not as dominant as they were and it feels it's because they are less aggressive in their drill mode, their last mastery node, the cover commander auto charge, is also questionable as whether you should take it or not, not because it's not as busted as the cc auto charge of the maa, but because it seems to be somewhat bugged whe used with cover commander, pre update you entered drill mode and immediately used cover commander, they would then swarm to you surroundings with quick combos of slashes, bashes and kicks, now, in cover commander drill mode they seem to attack way less and do more regular slashes than combos or heavy swings so it may seem valuable to take the autocharge so they charge in drill mode but, it seems that sometimes they freeze if you use cover commander while they are in drill mode. About veterancy, the "mid" line has more damage and is generally the one to go but there's a case for "top" line too, when they got their update, I tried the top line and I can say that if you count the time they are in drill mode, drill cool down will actually be only a few seconds long

They do feel weaker then before yeah. But still works fine in T3.
never use them to rush halberdiers they get trashed soo easily
