This is actually really good, great analysis. You should probably remove "REACTION" from the titles of your videos, it diminishes the work that you did.
+Guilherme B That's a good point.. Although "Reaction" might attract a bit more people. But yes, I should remove it and see what happens. Very good feedback, thank you!
Mago Hes waaaay better now. People just nostalgic and trying to keep him in that slim shady box so that anytime he steps out of it they get emotional over it.
+Jglg g I have to respectfully disagree. Saying "waaaay" better is quite a stretch. I would say that he's better lyrically now than before yes, but his flow and actually rapping is not as good as the material he released from 2000 to 2002. He showcased more diversity during that time.
Unabashedly Reggie Well this is where I'll respectfully disagree bc his current flow is super technical. Hes syncopating. Hes rhyming on downbeats and upbeats and everywhere in between. Hes shadow boxing bars. Hes incorporated modern day battle rap into his writing technique and delivering those bars with the same stunt work used by modern day battle rappers. He is flowing to parts of the beat besides the same old bass or snare. Hes crossing the bar with His rhyme schemes. His subject matter is more introspective than ever when he chooses to be....but it seems Hes purposely focusing on the technical and lyrical aspects bc he feels the need to prove a point. Em now has delivered some of the best verses of his career. His best friend verse. His medicine man verse. His last verse on Bad Guy. His 2nd verse of Fine Line. Just to name a few. Groundhogs Day is the perfect example of how to kill a story telling track with lyricism. Campaign Speech was extremely lyrical and the rhyme schemes are fantastic .....he changed not only flows but cadences and time signatures many times and at one point rhymed so consistently with enough rhythm acapella that they were able to add a break beat to his voice instead of the usual by adding his voice to the beat. Hes mixing his rhyme schemes in extremely intricate and creative patterns. Yeah Em now is way better than old Em.
+Jglg g I get your point, but not because something is more complex necessarily mean it's better. Also, if you pick songs from MMLP, TES or Devil's Night, he almost sounds completely different on each song and has a different cadence. The flow, sound and cadence on Campaign Speech, No favors or Right for Me is basically the same. You could interchange the beats and it wouldn't make much of a difference. It's just the tempo that is different. . A LOT of his recent verses sound like the songs I just mentioned. There's no denying the diversity is not like it used to be. Or even on Recovery, he had the same flow on a lot of the songs. On the Eminem Show, he basically has a different flow and sounding voice on every single song. I'm not even disagreeing about the lyrical aspect of it. But the flow part and rapping, we'll have to disagree. And that's fine, cuz it's subjective, it's art ;)
This is one of my favorite verses. Em and Yelawolf work so well together on this. The dynamic at the end of em's verse is similar to that on speedom where the intensity hits this insane climax and there is the "running away and barely dodging a train" feel as the surprisingly hard-hitting chorus hits and acts like a breather that the listener terribly needs after such a verse.
This is a great song, by Yela and Em, Yela lyrics is so compelling and has that spiritual conflict about believing in God but not the sake of religion (which something i love discussing and Yela did a great job with it), and that flow of Em is such a tight cadence style .... the way he came in was soooo smooth.... nice D.O.C. reference (no one can do it betta the DOC) and such a great dedication to Proof.... when you lose your best friends it's probably one of the hardest shit to deal with, outside of a family member of course..... your channel is so underated... I really wish Em could see it and see how you respect his lyrics and how you break it down... another great video!
Great analysis. I know you talked about the Shepard bars but you didn't really mention the "crowd around...they tend to flock like shepards"...meaning people tend to flock to him (crowd around) like shepards tend to their flock of sheep. Making use of the two meanings of both tend and flock.
Thanks man. Yeah I didn't go into details besides saying that people gather to hear him. But I did missed the homophones of "tend" and "flock" (ANOTHER one in that song!!). I really appreciate your comments, you are very good at analyzing the songs. You sure you're not low-key Em? :p Anyways, I'm glad that I can learn from the community!
+Unabashedly Reggie I am not Em...lol. I couldn't even begin to do what Em does. I just love hip hop bc of the way they use words. I will say I missed the Salvadore Dali reference bc I only thought of Dalai Llama. As in him saying he could've turned the cheek in the past instead of going all out in the beefs he had. Like he could've been much calmer like he is now. Who knows ... Btw, I know you meant it as a general term but I'm not a man. I'm actually female and I love hip hop and Em is my number 1.
Yeah, I used it as a general term without thinking really. But I'm glad to see women also interested in that type of stuff! Base on my stats, the viewers are mostly men, almost 97%! I'll remember you the next time and address you accordingly ;)
Might've missed it(this deals more with sonics, how the words sound and are stressed), but Em did a small knight in shining armour and a Gods disciple scheme as well. "God, would you please arm me with the armour to calm/call me when there's drama(lots of drama for Gods disciple and also damsel in distress), could've gone the other way many times, could've turned Dalai with the Lama(could've got lost in the castle looking for the princess and went from good to bad, and war for gods disciple). But I squashed my beefs and things seem to be looking decently recently but don't jinx it"(being a disciple of God and knight in shining armour, these tales are riddled with bad luck(hex, jinx)).
I feel like I'm the only person who caught the "belly button' bar and I loved it, but I'm in the air force. Once you get it you'll see it was genius and hard af. Google "A Way With Words belly button". They say the following: "belly button n. a person or unit in charge of, or the source of information for, a task or operation. Editorial Note: The “belly button” in the 1987 and 1994 citations is variably given in press reports as the name of a secret trust fund and as the designation for the person in charge of it; it is probably unrelated to the “belly button” defined here. Thanks to Rasa Silenas for suggesting this entry. Rasa writes, “I suspect this is military usage because it has been common in the Air Force since at least the mid-1990s but civilians seem unfamiliar with the term. A Belly Button is the person designated to be in charge of a task or as the source of info about it, as in ‘Who’s the Belly Button for installing the new radios?’ The connotation includes clarity of responsibility and accountability, as well as the image of the Commander poking a subordinate near the belt buckle when he needs something done.”
He plays with the short "u" sound a lot too in the intestines bars. Plus, fuckin, up, guts, unless, were all words I think were worth noting. As they share a rhyming syllable with the "uh" sound and the short "i" sound scheme of fuckin, nothin, somethin, etc.
I don't know if you'll see this comment but I think you're super underappreciated for your work that you do it's honestly awesome you not only break down the rhyme schemes which take a lot of skill but you also breakdown his lyrics I hope your channel blows up one day awesome work my guy
Keep making content! Your videos are great, if you keep pushing you will succeed on UA-cam for sure! You deserve all the succes! Thanks for sharing your videos Reggie!
Reggie your channel is dope! Thank you for the breakdowns and the meanings behind the lyrics. If I don't understand a bar or line I know where to go to find the truth. Thanks again.
Great video, please do Tonite or Infinite next! Feels so unfair that you put out amazing content and have so few views... but atleast you are growing and people are finding your chanel bit by bit
Don't Front & Groundhog Day are some of Em's masterwork lyricism that went under the radar.. I feel all the bonus tracks would have made MMLP2 a much better album.
He doesn't say "Could have turned dalai with the lama." What he actually says is "Could have turned Ali with the lama." What he meant by this is he COULD have turned Ali (punching crazy; shooting) with the Lama (gun), but instead he squashed his beefs. Don't use google lyrics for lyrics.
Hard to tell what he really says, but I still think it's Dalai, because he mentions Ghandi prior, then talks about peace and mentions "priesthood". He's creating a lexical field around religion and religious figures. That's why Dalai makes more sense.
Maybe Em was working on revival when he put this song out. That would add an layer to the D.O.A scheme and songs like Arose kind goes with this song maybe a stretch or maybe the Thought process of The GOAT.
I want to know what 12-idiots would thumbs down Unabashedly Reggie's work or Eminem's skills??? Like, why are you here if not to appreciate the work put into these video. or the art form in writing these rhymes. I actually wasn't familiar with NF. He's pretty good. But for now, I'm focusing more on Eminem as he's the artist that I know the most. Thanks for letting me know who NF was.
This is how new school copies you show them how he does his own shit and people say this new guy is good with out knowing he copied from old school raps
funny for eminem to say in not afraid that he doesn't like relapse so much. but all time best album of eminem is so had for me to choose. i like everything he ever wrote. but my favorite songs are the diss songs like warning nail in the coffin source Hallie's revenge even though his not doing a verse in it the proof and obie are killing ja. for me em is the G.O.A.T. raping and converting verses are all about words and he way's to use them that's what makes a rap artist great. the way eminem uses the words and the amount of them is just amazing to watch i have to use dictionary and go to library to find the dictionaries to find some words that this dude is using. so eminem is a rap artist the sings with a vocabulary of a college professor. great work on the analysis man! and i hope to see the ganja one soon and also speedom and rap god too as weal as Vegas cuz i love them songs i listen to them almost every day but i can't understand shit. damn this dude is fast! so anyway thanks for the video and hope to see good content from you soon!
+G.R J.B Yes lol. But yeah, Eminem is a wordsmith and I do these videos to showcase why he's my favorite rapper. One thing tho, why do you go to the library to look up dictionaries, they have them online now 😂 jk
Event though there is certainly a lot of room for improvement (some stuttering here and there, but that'll improve as you make more videos and get more comfortable), still an awesome video. You have won a new subscriber :D
That's something I would like to be teached at school instead of this boring facts about traditional or classical music we are currently being teached.
It's pretty obvious that Eminem is my favorite rapper of all-time, but I eventually want to do other rappers too. I'm still trying to figure out how to release these videos with more consistency. Once I get a certain groove and I'll do other artists. Big Pun is also insane at it, that Deep Cover freestyle!
Shakespeare is dead and being replaced by Eminem : a conspirasy
+lilith olson I agree with that conspiracy ;)
@@UnabashedlyReggie can comments legally be that fire? 🐐
Em=Illuminati?
Not saying they are the same person but you havent seen them in the same place together
Maybe Shakespeare has been reborn as EMINEM
When he's rapping shiggy shock, diggy doc and all that, he's paying tribute to Das Efx because they used to rap like that back in the 90's
You deserve for more. Nice work. Keep going! Em verse on Medicine Man is dope or Run Rabbit Run!
This is actually really good, great analysis.
You should probably remove "REACTION" from the titles of your videos, it diminishes the work that you did.
+Guilherme B That's a good point.. Although "Reaction" might attract a bit more people. But yes, I should remove it and see what happens. Very good feedback, thank you!
yet eminem haters says he isnt as good as before smh
troy riley Ikr he is still good if not better, he just doesn't make so much music
Mago Hes waaaay better now. People just nostalgic and trying to keep him in that slim shady box so that anytime he steps out of it they get emotional over it.

also on that clint eastwood line eastwood played a preacher in the movie pale rider adding another connection between those lines
+person3848 Damn that's dope. I never saw that movie! Thanks man.
Eminem is a white rapper. A "pale writer", if you will
Em's verse on "Calm Down" with Busta is fire. Please make an analysis video.
this is one of the most unique and well put together youtube channels ever, Great job man!
I do try to make something different, so your comment means a lot. Thanks

This is eminems top verses.. both emotionally n honest while being crazy thechnical with word plays n doubles/triples
How do people rank any other rapper over Em?
Well, 2Pac and Biggie are ummmmm, wellll, are better in no way, but they are dead, so they are more legendary
@@eriklamela4321 will see, when he meats them. boom.

Could you please react to Eminem's verse in "Homicide" with Logic?
Gandhi was also known for fighting with the pen rather than the sword, like Em.
Imo he was actually talking about the dali lama in the intro to his verse who is another spiritual leader which ties with ghandi
Don't Front & Groundhog Day are some of Em's masterwork lyricism that went under the radar.. I feel all the bonus tracks would have made MMLP2 a much better album.

have you done a breakdown for Forever. if you haven't could you please do one for the WHOLE SONG!
