You should be able to leave your money in your rrsp and take it out as needed not according to the minimum mamdated withdrawls.That would be real self directed retirement plan as opposed to what we have now. As you get up in years the mandated withdrawl rates are so high that by the time you reach your nineties your retirement fund is pretty much gone.Being able to withdraw what you want should leave you woth a margine of safety if you get very old. You should be lobbying for this change rather than explaining mistakes people do with an unfair program.
