my jaw actually dropped wide open at 1:59 witnessing a silver van crossing through the closed barriers! =O Also I've included an INDEX OF TIMESTAMPS here in my reply comments for anyone wanting to jump to specific events! Enjoy =)
5:23 single locomotive approaches, and also status appears on screen (ENGLISH): Level crossing malfunction Make as much use as possible of underpassing Brandevoort/Helmond West Helmond Centrum/Helmond East (ORIGINAL): overwegstoring malfunction maak zoveel mogelijk gebruik van underpassing brandevoort/helmond west helmond centrum/helmond oost
4:53 a red car approaches the wrong side, driver walks up to train line to look and a white car sneaks through 6:29 eeek the start of a heap of vehicles sneaking through the closed barriers 6:47 and a silver one on the far side starts to sneak up but then hears train horn and stops, lucky...!
oh wow 13:37 classic potential for fatal error - a pedestrian dressed in black on the far side assumes the train has passed - but there's another train approaching on the far track! they are very fortunate the trains are observing EI8 procedure of slow approach and horn...! pedestrian halts and then sheepishly retreats gradually
25:09 the switchboard on the far side of the tracks now has its door opened by railworkers 27:40 gates go back up after passenger trains passes, unfortunately the police interpret this as the problem is solved and they relocate the car off the bottom of the screen but stay onsite
At least a major part of the malfunction happened when there was relatively little traffic by cars, bicycle or on foot. There were a lot of scofflaws on bikes or on foot that crossed illegally, but with the trains slowed to a crawl, I suppose the danger was minimized. Perhaps the police could have allowed these crossings from time to time. This is a very busy rail line!
There was a power outage in my city where the lights and bells of a bridge kept ringing. No booms there. Cars still waited untill police arrived and waved them through.
There is an reason that when a malfunction acures the booms go down in the Netherlands it is to protect the people always for upcoming trains. When it is closed you than need to go to altarnative roads to cross the railroad. Now it seems that Pro Rail the main railroad company from the Netherlands was notivite and isued a speed limit on the traxs But stil the crossing is closed so what the people in this video did by stil crossing the railroad is not alowed an punnishable with whit a big fine.
the reason the trains have to go what is called rijden op zicht. (driving on sight) is that fuckwads stil use the crossing even if it is closed. part of the driving on sight is the requirement to be abele to stop over the distenc you see clear from the cabin with at most 40kph
Quite similar to Germany. The thing that surprised me the most was that the first team didn't put up a manual barrier. I had seen several cases where a crossing was out of order, either because of construction or breakdown. The safety posts in Germany used a chain with highlight markings across the road to close the crossing. They opened and closed the chain at the command of the train manager on the line and the trains remained at normal speed. Such manual control not only allows trains to return to normal speed as quickly as possible, but also prevents people from entering the crossing during a repair when a train may be approaching at the same time. Anyone who crosses a railway on a red light is asking for the Darwin Award and has absolutely no sympathy from my side. Drivers should lose their licence on the spot, as this was taught in driving school as a point with no leeway whatsoever. Should others be fined too? Fine by me. If someone is hit by a train in such an action, I feel for the train driver and others involved, but there are no emotions left for the perpetrator other than hatred.
@@roger0929 Asset Rail, no police. That is one of the companies handling maintenance of such crossings and other rail related objects. As soon as such malfunctions are detected the contracted company is alerted. People have eyes and ears so they see and/or hear the train approaching at very low speed. Crossing right before a train is not the smartest thing to do so most don't. No police needed fot that :D Later on the video you can see that due to the more severe issue with the crossing and the long time traffic supervisors are there to help the flow of traffic, but they are also not police.
There are alternative routes in both directions. The main problem (initially) is informing people that the crossing is indeed malfunctioning and will not open, so they do not get frustrated by waiting - and enforcing the red lights and barriers for the sake of safety.
Geweldige video. Ook goed om te zien dat het overgrote deel van de mensen niet zomaar blind oversteekt.

3:14 to 4:14 I like the on-screen commentary explaining the EI8 directive:
1. reduce speed to 10km/h
2. repeated warning sounds
3. stop if necessary

and cars going weaving through the closed barriers

Wow! What a capture! 🚉
Ik ben overigens wel benieuwd naar wat de oorzaak was.
I mean staying closed is better than staying open while a train comes by
true but causes traffic jams aswell
Lets hope this does not happen again !
Often the issue is corrected pretty fast but this one was more difficult to repair it seems. But it happens.
Its a very long ghost train
Thanks for the lovely nap!
Those trains have a strange horn
1:54 he had enough :D
super video ! thanks

Sure took them long enough to fix this.
Confusion and delay.
So the police don't send someone to control traffic?
No, not needed. Traffic handles it themself and train drivers have instructions.
nope the closed booms SHOUD be enough.
No track maintainers in that country??? This is ridiculous!
Halverwege de video is er een storing met het geluid
Dank voor je opmerking Wilfred. Hoop dat het niet al te storend is, want de echte storing duurde al lang genoeg!
No sooner do I question about the police and they show up - good job
That's not the police I don't think.

@martijncoenenpuntnl so are the traffic supervisor people the same level as a regular flagman for like construction areas?
@@livestreammasterThe same yes. You can hire them for construction areas, events, and stuff like this.
Busy line... 😲
die regelaar ,waar is zn reflecterende kleding???valt echt lekker op zo in t donker
Silence is golden
I've enjoyed that 3h long video
OK great! Thanks for letting us know!
Could they not let people cross in between trains? That would be annoying if not😂

They found the reset button!
The level crossing broke down!
Oh my god!
1:29:07 wtf did i hear
I wish i was there to tell everyone to cross at their leisure because of the failure and that the train horns they were hearing were a delusion.
Tell me you are pro Darwin Award without saying it out loud. 😂
