- another saturday another live mix! like i said in this video, I'll be trying to use new plug-ins every week just to keep things fresh. Not sure when, but a few of these area going to be "mixing a record with only _____ plug-ins". Still trying to find the right record for that but it's in the works.

Good content !! It's so good to have the artist first notes as well and see how you adjust accordingly !!!! Having an insight of an upcoming engineer is pure gold as I can defenitely identify myself to it !
Yes! A key part of the process is making sure get it as close to the artists vision as possible and i feel like it’s important to show that and be transparent
man i rly fuck with your content, specially this tipe of live mixing videos, i've been mixing for years but there's always new prespectives and something new to learn!
Thank you!! I always learn best by just watching someone do their thing and taking my own notes so I figured it may be useful to others as well
Nice mix, good content too.
I think I'm going to start using distressors more haha
Only one thing, the f6 is only doing eq, you have to use the "range" knob at the left of the threshold to make it dynamic eq
Good looks, ended up working out but will keep in mind. And yeah distressors are fun. Nice and clean but you can really drive them if needed
👏👏👏
Dang I'm surprised how good the distressors sound in series!
Yeah me too! Got some other chains I wanna try out after this episode. Stay tuned
160 on a vocal, damn that's adventurous... you made it work though!
Crush it in parallel on almost anything and it gives ya instant weight. I tried 160 in serial once before on vocals and couldn’t get it to do anything I wanted it to do but it’s never failed me in parallel
@@davidtecalamusic not much of a parallel guy myself on vocals at least, but I'll give this one a try
What mic was this recorded on? And was any outboard gear used?
No outboard gear technically, just an Aston Origin into an Apollo twin. But I had him track through a Neve 1073 and La-2a plugin with the Apollo’s unison tech and print it so that’s how the vocals came to me is through those plugins. I didn’t record this either, I did help him set the chain up for his voice though so when he records it’s already in a great spot
@@davidtecalamusic yoooo that’s dope I use a pretty similar tracking chain.
You should consider teaching protools courses too. I def wanna learn
I don’t know if I’ll do that for UA-cam but I do offer 1 on 1 sessions for mix/production feedback or we can get into how to use protools or another Daw. Basically personal coaching for production and engineering. Shoot me a message on IG @davidtecalamusic If that’s something you’d be interested in
@@davidtecalamusic bet!
You MIXING all this On your Headphones ?
No I check on other sources after I record but I’ve also been using these headphones for 6 years so if I really need to I can it all done with just headphones
