In regards to veiling I’ve heard of the tradition but black is my favorite color and I’m not married. So I respect the tradition but I want to wear the color I want lol

My mom was born and raised in Mexico. She was born in 1970. She said when she was a little girl all of the married women always wore a black veil and it was taboo to do not do so. Where as single women and young girls could wear any color, white included. Veiling in her town died out as time went on but she said this was sort of common knowledge throughout the village. She immigrated when she was 13 so we don’t really known when veiling dwindled down but it’s still practiced by the older women there.

As someone discerning consecrated life I won’t wear a white veil since I don’t want to advertise my singleness to the whole parish. It could give people the wrong impression and my marital status is not anyone else’s business. I’ve always found the white veil for single ladies thing really weird.
I just wear different colours and patterns, so u can never really tell my status🫡
