In fact, you can maintain the effect of your daily power with the bard healer almost all the time. In combat with a lot of ads, you can just recharge your action point in 5 sec with the last at-will and then spam your daily
New trial has already attracted so much attention from elitists that it's not even fun. They treat you like you are invisible unless you are ranged dps (wizzard) or pally tank/healer. It also doesn't help that the new trial is really unfriendly towards melee dps and that Agent is one of the worst enemy designs since it existing counters 50% of the classes.
At this point it feels like wizard is the devs favorite child. The Blademaster and Dreadnought revamp can't come any sonner. Our time will come, it will come (copium)
The only game I ever played that made BARD a real all-round-powerhouse. Basic attack cleaves (hits several foes), psychic attack on the other mouse button, quick healing can be TAB then Q, or digit sequence for stronger song. Plus: Level-up choices can boost the music or the fighting. 🤩
I actually love the Cleric class, probably my favourite. It’s hard to play and get the rotation right, but that is what I like about it: you have to give things a bit of thought, and from that, you are rewarded. Cleric spells hit HARD if you can do your Prophecy of Doom and artefact, get combat advantage, and then smack bosses with single-target abilities. You can top the metres with an Arbiter Cleric with practise. I think they’re underrated 😎
The game is moving in totally wrong direction. Everything is focused on ranged dps. In a normal environment melee units should do more damage since they also take greater risks and put themselves in danger more often and ranged units do a little less damage but are generally safer further away from danger and compensating by dying less often. This game chose to go in opposite direction.
In balanced MMOs, I've always viewed melee DPS (which I always play, full disclosure there) as the bass and percussion sections of a piece of music. The ranged DPS bring the rest: the crescendos, the highs (bursts), the lows and rests (cooldowns between bursts). But well played melee is there to keep that constant damage going at all times. The ranged makes the rest of it happen. Just my view :)
@scottsmith1652 so you're saying that melee classes should do sustained D.P.S. and ranged classes should do burst with some cooldowns? Melee usually has to move more due to time spent going towards enemies and changing positions because of A.O.E. damage. Which is a D.P.S. loss. Ranged should do less damage than melee, but brimg more C.C. to the table.
@@insertname9736 I hear what you're saying! I haven't played NW very long. My raiding experience comes from WoW. And that is from BC and Wrath. I played mostly furry warrior, rogue and then feral druid in ICC during Wrath. I know games have turned to favor ranged as times have changed. I just recall the overall damage meters would reflect myself and my other melee buddy as top damage because our uptimes were solid. The ranged had a move a lot more or take of other duties at times. It seems like the tables have turned :)
well I'm just coming back to the game , again, and I'm so lost it's been so long I decided to start fresh with a wizard I'm only level 7 but I feel like a melee class because everything is all up in my face all the time except when I can use my daily then I get to watch everything get sucked into the void. I have almost no crowd control at all..I'm just standing there getting wailed on.
Ok so. Keeping this idea of easiest to hardest in mind Atleast with the tanks. I’d like to share my opinion. And am quite open for others to speak there’s . Putting them all in a vacuum and then applying there places I’ll got from easiest to hardest. 1.) Fighter. It isn’t a competition in terms of simplicity and application this class has in its arsenal. As many before has stated. Squishy the fighter is simply not. But please understand where Aragon is coming from when I explain the other tanks. The fighter imo has it all in the simplest ways which only gets better as you learn to cancel knights challenge early. Having the most consistent stamina sustain and potentially the highest stamina sustain out of all the tanks and have access to 20% Dr from Steve warrior and a 20% health increase daily? Is honestly far greater than one would think. Stamina is our health bar. And if we are recovering that with literally every action we do is just 🎉. Not to mention (Atleast for my build) 8% more Dr from when I’m not blocking (Counts and still mitigates if your guard is broken but only when completely empty aka tank busters that actually bust your shield) This tank is simply the easiest and well suited for new comers and experts alike. However what I believe Aragon is trying to say about this class being squishy is that in terms of just constantly mitigating damage in all situations including mobile mobbing. The fighter falls short and for moondancer tank buster. It can be a little awkward as unlike pally. You can’t divide the damage leading up to the buster. You are prone to getting stunned if you can’t anticipate correctly. Lastly Crit avoidance being the fighters forte is just awesome. Getting a free 10% for blocking and another 15% awareness using dig in and oonga boonga levels of aggro using retaliate, and buffing the teams damage with your main hard taunt? No gimmick required? New comers I encourage. Try this class. Pally: let’s be honest. The new feat for the damaging aggro area is honestly nutty. This is the only tank where I can comfortably drop aggro ring and pick another for stats or buffs. This tank is deceptively challenging and at the same time easy. Pally absolutely dominates mobbing situations and it’s not even a contest. The potential survivability is honestly frightening. As you can get a true mitigation of 50% on top of your stats! Like what? 😂. 80+% if you are using Tiamats and those arm pieces that give Dr for getting hit. Tank busters against a pally is honestly the only thing that can truly threaten to break a fully self buffed pally shield. Otherwise you are chilling. All the while your mechanic is drawing so much aggro. You are the only tank who can afford to just slot in survivability encounters if you wanted to and still tank like a boss. Binding oath will refill your stamina over the course of its duration in bursts of about 1/3rd of your stamina bar 4 times. Not to mention you have RANGED hard taunts (yes plural) aoe aggro at will you truly are suited for every possible situation….the draw back? Divinity. This secondary resource is as good as you make it. And that on its own is based on your stats, skill and knowledge. For newer players it’s easy to leave the mechanic on and just wail at things. But the drain is quite silly albeit reasonably some of your better aggro tools cost divinity. And the primary one we would use “Smite” costs divinity and a class feature slot to even make it a hard taunt. If balancing divinity was out of the question. This would be the easiest tank no doubt about it. Way too many benefits for those who can master the divinity. And honestly truly crushing for those who can’t. Lastly the forte being deflect severity is honestly not all that bad. Deflect being arguably the most misunderstood (or flat ignored) stat in the game by all but the most curious of people is honestly quite ridiculous. Yes. Some if not all tank busters ignore deflect… so? I get it the problem is having to level both it and its severity. But as a pally? This plays into its absurd survivability it’s the only tank where I was seeing 3 digit numbers in Moondancer and that was without abilities aside from the mechanic. For mobbing and you have capped the previous three? Unless you are strictly doing trials. Do yourself a favor on all of your tanks. Try it. Yes if capped it’s 90% chance to reduce the hit by 90% of the damage after all mitigations were applied. So that means 10% of the time you’ll take full damage…. So? What is the gamble? Please explain to me? 3.) Barbarian. Tbh I wanted to put pally and Barb as a tie. But hey this is my opinion and you super welcome to discuss your own! So let’s start out by saying that remember I said fighter has POTENTIALLY the highest stamina sustain? Yeah this class is simply the current holder of highest stamina sustain in the game. With the paragon feat the restores your stamina upon unstoppable ending, invigorate, and sure strike buffed by said unstoppable and what I consider average stamina regen of 65%? The boss has to be very aggressive to beat down your stamina for sure strike to not be considered more than enough during unstoppable. And again..Unstoppable makes you well…unstoppable if you play this right. Barbs have a rhythm imo for each dungeon and each mob. That so long as you do your part. Stamina is hardly ever gone beyond your control. Most of the time it’s by choice. ( good or bad). Barbarians has arguably the most satisfying gameplay out of all the tanks as nothing will ever make you back down if you are well informed in the content you are playing in. Barbarians also has my most favorite taunt in the game as it groups up enemies in a nice clump. It’s no singularity but everyone will capitalize on it like one. The barbarian also brings some unique buffs to the team. Increasing the teams max Hp by 15% making those lovable blue bubbles everyone loves to hide behind that much better if it’s a full shield, 5% physical damage and hopefully once it’s patched. 20% movement speed! Barbarians are the only tank that doesn’t have a % Damage mitigation skill. But instead increases their health to massive amounts. In their kit alone they can increase their HP by 60%. And another 20% from those dragon boots! Making your Hp go even further beyond! Which in turn makes your stamina health pool even more ridiculous. Blocking 2mil and having a bit stamina to spare is no longer a dream you didn’t know you had. Aggro on this class is honestly in my opinion where i might get a little flack. So for general content. Threatening presence + Frustrating slash proc + challengers+ Rage and rally is more than enough. I don’t even use takedown. But for higher content. Is when you might have to consider primal fury. This is where it gets weird. This ability’s magnitude can go up 600! With increased threat modifiers. So its effective damage is honestly dumb. But….it scales with stamina loss….and that to me is just..weird. I’m not saying this isn’t impossible to manage. Far from it. It’s because of the stamina situation utilizing this is some of if not the most easiest big aggro button in the game. But it requires your rage. Aka you 60% health block. And those very dungeons in which you’d consider using this hurt quite a bit unless you’re all nice and capped. But mastering this particular dance. Your health is still very safe with all the options you have. And the fact your forte is awareness’ 😃. Barbarians to me is a tank that can comfortably handle both aoe and single target situations. But not exceeding pally in aoe, nor fighter in single. But what it truly excels in is keeping control. Unstoppable being able to break away control effects on you is just 🤤. Also gain free critical avoidance while blocking during unstoppable is very welcome here. As crit avoidance is very important. Thank you all for reading my opinion. I hope to hear yours! With all these new changes I feel like the title for best tank is anyone’s guess. But in terms of easiest? I say fighter
I wanted to add one more thing here. Ahem…. YOU DO NOT NEED A PALLY BUBBLE TO SURVIVE. Each tank innately has the tools to comfortably tank all busters in their kit. 20% mitigations + Health increase daily is more than enough to protect you. And mind you pally has the luxury of just Quatering said busters and Barbie’s do it with not Mitigation abilities. Just health buffs. I encourage you to give story teller bards a chance. Bards are walking Arti calls I tell you!! 🤭😂
The bard healer is significantly stronger than sorcerer. And is also the equal of the cleric. The sorcerer is the poorest of the healers mentioned. If you want a healer who will let you finish the content faster, the best is definitely the Bard
Actually it is all about either CC when you group and stun your enemies or super-high outburst of damage for boss fights after arties or when imobizlized (cocoons etc). Barbie has an encouter that supposedly pulls enemies but on tank :D
@@itsmohdiii3689 in moondancer you have to cover a lot of adds , mdwp you have to control adds (barlor, succubs, mane ...) and in majority you go with DPS checks like cocoons or last shield in mdwp. With DPS check melee is doing OK IMO.
The thing I did on a Ranger and admittedly, I never did any of the hard trials, but the thing I did is, I would use my encounters on the ranged, and then I would use that I would stand switch and use that dash to get up close, mainly the shit out of them, then stand switch again and use theencounter power to back away, shooting and rinse and repeat back-and-forth that way. I never was standing near them that long and I would use up my encounters on one then switch to the other and then back-and-forth.
Ideally you have someone else in the group who can apply that physical damage debuff, a rogue or Barbarian can. But yeah, if you don't, then you may be better with commanders at least for the Arti call
It's Reave, Commander strike, a particular paragon (which boots daily power by 400 when CS is used). That gives you 5% damage boost on top of 1500+ magnitude dailies (2500 if you are using a particular one). I use a similar tactic with Reave + CS + Anvil of Doom boosted (1300), it's basically a mini nuke. My item level is pretty low at 30k and I have been able to do 150k in one move in a high roll

It seems clear that the devs haven't learned anything and it's a huge part of why I quit the game (not the only reason, the constant reworks were getting tiresome also to the point the game started feeling like a chore instead of being fun, after working a long day the last thing you want to do is feel like your going to another job lol) I'm sure I'm not the only one who just got fed up and then the melee class was becoming obsolete in end game, I enjoy playing melee (Rogue was my main) but I couldn't get into new end game trials unless they were friends and even then people got frustrated in the new content because you were the weakest link, everyone wanted wizard DPS, the last time we were viable was VOS. A well designed game should not cater to one class only but be balanced so that every class can perform somewhat equally and be viable. Everyone said create a wizard, but I didn't want to play a class that I didn't enjoy. I think I heard the game was laying off devs and rumor that it could shut down eventually & permanently, every one of us who quit the game and stopped investing in the game by purchasing VIP and occasional ZEN store purchases hurts their revenue & bottom line, it's not good business practice to drive away your customers and over the years that's exactly what they've been doing, they're a victim of their own demise. I was thinking about coming back to the game but after this video & seeing nothing has changed I won't. The Bard minstrel does have defensive boosts/offensive boosts. Use the gambler feat instead of storyteller. You get the 2 extra songs that make a huge difference and should move the bard to the easy slot.
You'd think whisperknife rogue would perform well in fights where you downtime is high due to you needing to avoid mechanics as you'd be able to throw your dots up then dodge around a bit then get back in.
Fighter DPS definitely needs a lot of work. Single target is pretty good but the AOE powers are too small, too slow, and too weak. AOE Daily power is just rubbish too.
combine the level of difficulty to maintain all buffs and the amount of buttons to press to cast heals versus other healers, you have a much more challenging time doing your role, versus other healers!
@Aragon- it is challenging need to maintain 2-3, 4 if you're pushing it. Even at that it's not hard to maintain the effects of Curtain Call, especially in this dungeon, with the multiple ways to gain AP. there's other factors like your teammates ability to not stand in the red, you can still do your job efficiently.
It's very justified because it can't shield the tank whenever it pleases. The paladin and the warlock can repeatedly shield the tank in a very short period of time. For example when they're needed to apply a shield for the stun and apply a refreshed shield for the tankbuster. You can't make queues without a paladin, or at least a Hellpact warlock that can shield the tank but you can make queues without a minstrel. The warlock has the added benefit that it can be a healer or a shielder depending on who it is partenered with. So yes, I would say the two should be ranked above the bard for this module/trial alone.
@@pudelinocacalat2951I've done Mdom and ADOM with 2 Bards.. we've completed without a paladin.. Obviously having a paladin makes it easier, but that still doesn't cancel the fact that the Bard can still out perform when done correctly. You should watch a previous stream I even solo heal ADOM, Gus had a bard for his 6 man Moondancer run. I'm convinced you see 1 person (aragon) say or do 1 think on a PREVIEW video, and expect that to be the one and only way to play the trial when that's not the case. It's very possible, and extremely easy. I'm surprised with all his keybinds he can't find a simple way to play the bard and make it efficient.
Bard is clearly top tier because of the buff he provide, 2 pally is not as good as a paly and a bard combo and no other combo beat that one. Bard is also the better one for melt group. The fact that you even consider the cleric in the same tier as the bard make me believe you have not played much of it. In the new trial I keep giving the full 15% dr/dmg + the debuff armor + grace, vistani while also shielding people with bigger shield than pally (other than its single target) because there is so much add you can shield everything so easily. The auto heal at 50% also pair very well with the pally. I can see why paly is first but there is absolutely no way why the cleric is even in the same tier than the bard lol not even close to it and even the warlock. They both should be dropped one and bard moved up once if you rate it on that content.
Look at it like this. If you need to solo heal the trial, what would it be easier on? Bard and Cleric are okay. Neither will have an easy time at it. Bard has buffs, but harder to play, needing to learn songs etc. Cleric is easier but you need to be fast with bastion to save ppl
i have complained before about the warlock dps but damn i dedicate to primarily AOE (hell fire ring, fiery bolt, and curse bite) and holy shit now people look for me so i can join their Q lol
I have been playing a lot of DDO lately after giving it a real go and wanted to get into this game the same way. Your guides and lists are helpful. I bought enough slots to make alts of every class and I will mostly solo due to time constraints in daily life. I would assume that all the dps paragons for those classes that have alternative choices (tank or healer) is the way to go, but what about the classes that only have dps choices? Are the paragons you pointed out still viable as a solo character or should I go the other path? Oh and I know it's not a big deal to some people, but the word Melee (spells ME-Lee) is actually pronounced May-LAY. That's the correct pronunciation. It's a little nuance, but its still matters and it's less of TOE-MAT-TOE or TOM-AUT-TOE. It's actually just May lay. Take care.
For wizard and ranger, go with the paragon I suggested. You will unlock it at level 11. For Rogue, well they are getting a bunch of changes and we shall see. I'll cover it in videos
worlock has so manny problems with animations, that I wish they just nuked it's animation canceling completly, and rebalanced it. depending on my ping, i can go from perfect animation canceling, to impossible. And it's close to nothing to do with my internet, it's all about how much their servers want to be shit that day...
@@gampie13 I can say that warlock shouldn't be that high on the list when you look at regular DPS rankings and the way canceling is used to (supposedly) get 25% damage output. AoE just looks cool, but it is too weak, ripping out the curse cannot be impacted by canceling or high regen. I've seen only few that were aspiring to have top tier and even they had significantly less damage than wizards. I gladly would give up the canceling for improved timing and mechanics on warlock hellbringer.
I'm glad I stopped playing cleric completely... The class has both bad support (good heal, but no mitigation compared to both other healers) and requires to be very good at mechanics to be able to compete damage-wise. I also like tanking better, but that's another topic. Warlock looks much more interesting and fun to play compared to a cleric. I'm happy with my barbarian tank, even before the changes it was fun, now it's still fun but also viable
what happened? 😮 when i played the game some years ago devouted cleric as one of the original classes where really good just using astral shield and divine armor to grand a really good shield and have had another spells to reduce allies damage and increase damage on enemies.

@aragon you really do nut understand how a RANGER makes damage do you WARDEN Is way better for AoE then Hunter ever will be... STAY in RANGED OR MELEE use AoE AT WILLS for max damage with boosts from ENCOUNTERS useing RAPID For SINGLE TARGETS you will rock the PAINGIVER
aoe at wills don't necassarily make warden better than hunter. that's like saying whisperknife is better than assassin in there since they have shuriken toss. warden simply has too many flaws to keep up with hunter. plus this trial isn't solely aoe, there is a large focus on bursting down lieutenants and captain.
well good job. BUT totally disagree about brad healer - it is just TOP healer currently for sure: heals/buffs/debuffs and also shields, which are bigger than pally (from encounter). And it is definitely not at the same lvl as cleric :D also disagree about warlock dps - it also sould be in tier with ranger in terms of its gameplay/correct rotation: its pretty hard to make really good dps on this class

i wished the warlock dps had an attack to pull enemies together, would help alot with croud control.. although for aoe its probably still pretty decent compared to other dps classes.. btw does anybody know where to get those balloons seen at 6:44, or where they have been obtainable? drives me crazy everytime i see them cause i cant find anything about them ^^

I play solo majority of the time. So I’m trying to find a solo character I can run most of the content but also don’t have worry once I join a party to run dungeons.
Hmm, the main reason is because both paths deal damage, and so you would just switch to whatever path is better. So I didn't see the need to rank the other path, when it is just going to rank lower. However they have recently improved, particularly the rogue whisperknife, and are working on Ranger Warden. So in my next ranking, I will most likely show how they compare

I remember when lifesteal was a thing when warlock was introduced. then tiamat instance hopping, Pirate king rings breaking up guilds, bubble palys, the sigil of infinite dailies, and module 6. boy was that one a doozey...😂 but alas, I moved on from neverwinter like most of my guild in mod 6. I just felt bad for the unsuspecting 1st timer and the ones who stayed thinking it would get better...

@@Aragon- , LOL , why not make the logical adjustments early on. Melee does more damage but takes greater risks. Ranged , a little less damage but are safer further away from danger. The path they chosen only leads to constant meddling with updates back and forth and we as player have to constantly change our focus depending on meta for each module.

Seriously, I see people asking for things to be nerfed on classes they don't play because it's supposedly 'too easy' and they get jealous over nothing, the last time was the DC healing word heal by the Warlocks who wanted to be the best healers by nerfing the DC. That's just what they tend to do, they see one class who appears to be easier to play or do more damage etc than them (the fact they may be good at playing and building a build doesn't matter, they don't even think about that) and their first reaction is 'nerf it please!!! wahhhhhh!!!!' I totally agree with u, it should have been the other way for years, don't nerf it, bring other things up to match.
So really my comment was just that when the CW was put up the top on 'easy' with a spotlight on it people are going to now ask for it to be nerfed because 'it's not fair' and they want the CW to be the same difficulty or whatnot that their preferred class is. That's just how many of their minds work.

You say Rogue is melee, but Whisperknife is missile, and so are several Assassin powers. And with Whisperknife you can use Vengeance's Pursuit to teleport into melee range, Stealth and use Lashing Blade or a Daily, and then roll backwards out of the red. {:o:O:}
if you're trying to say rogue is ranged, it really isn't in any viable way, which is all that matters. the only semblance of non-melee is potb, but even that's still mid-ranged. but that's one of the factors that makes it our lifeline for sure. whisperknife as a whole doesn't work in moondancer, it's only viable for normal dungeon aoe. and the only ranged things about that are blitz, which is great, and... at wills, which are more or less negligible damage with how weak they are compared to the rest of the kit.

You didn't do Paladin dps side. ??. So they have nerfed melee, buffed ranged. Bottlenecking you to play what they want you to play. Ranged. Why cant they develop a tank, with a good dps for solo play/campaign. Its like they only know how to develop one paragon side at a time.YOUR THE DEVOLOPER FOR GOODNESS SAKE GAWWWD.
I agree Vanguard is not the easyest to play. But most squshy its not. Those extra stats equal 25% also dig in regenerate shield. With the right build and player survive its best at. And it really shines in solo bosses. All tanks are good. But squshy its not.
You notice it when you are using maxed build and you can get all the stats high already. Fighter doesn't have anything extra, like paladin with 30% damage resist daily and Barbarian with 35% HP daily. Fighter only has 20% HP daily. This is what I mean. You feel squishier when having to take massive tankbusters.
@Aragon- lol you can build a Max fighter but apparently you can't play one. Pally main but it's obvious the pally tank is the most squishy tank you see it really when you Max all three and run them in the identical group only changing your tank. Pally has great auras for buffs and many reasons I prefer but dig in is simply easier and more effective than having to trigger and then guard to avoid stun and you have maintain both Stam and divinity so as for tanks I disagree rest is reasonable. I rate barb as highest potentially but not in my personal performance yet with exception to mtos 1st boss come and get it
@@BirdsRntReal I solo tanked mdwp last mod. All alone. Taking it directly. Whitout dig in and those extra stats i can use earth examble and other things to focus on. I get more survive. I really doubt my pala in that mod whould even be close taking all that damage solo. Its also a delay in on off tab. If anyone else could do it. Maybe barb. With solo healing build. Thats a maybe tho. Then again it depends on what criteria we are judging. Best shield. Vanguard by far. Best rotational barb. That berserk immunity is awesome. Best versatile paladin. About squishy, thats one thing Vanguard is not known for. Ask end game Vanguards if they think they are squishy. I like pala much. But in my honest opinion its maybe the most squishy in terms of overall tanking. Barb had aggro problems. But thats fixed. I actually want palla tank to get a little buff. Honestly

Warlock is harder to play especially with the animation cancelling. The ranking isn't right in my opinion. And even with ani cancelling, if u play against a well skilled cw, hr or tr, there is no chance to be number 1 dps as a warlock.

In fact, you can maintain the effect of your daily power with the bard healer almost all the time. In combat with a lot of ads, you can just recharge your action point in 5 sec with the last at-will and then spam your daily
New trial has already attracted so much attention from elitists that it's not even fun. They treat you like you are invisible unless you are ranged dps (wizzard) or pally tank/healer. It also doesn't help that the new trial is really unfriendly towards melee dps and that Agent is one of the worst enemy designs since it existing counters 50% of the classes.
Still waiting for paladin dps. Baldurs gate 3 reminded me how satisfying divine smites are

I remember a time in the game that's about all you saw running around PE was barbarians..they were THE class to play.
The only game I ever played that made BARD a real all-round-powerhouse. Basic attack cleaves (hits several foes), psychic attack on the other mouse button, quick healing can be TAB then Q, or digit sequence for stronger song. Plus: Level-up choices can boost the music or the fighting. 🤩
I actually love the Cleric class, probably my favourite. It’s hard to play and get the rotation right, but that is what I like about it: you have to give things a bit of thought, and from that, you are rewarded. Cleric spells hit HARD if you can do your Prophecy of Doom and artefact, get combat advantage, and then smack bosses with single-target abilities. You can top the metres with an Arbiter Cleric with practise. I think they’re underrated 😎

The game is moving in totally wrong direction. Everything is focused on ranged dps. In a normal environment melee units should do more damage since they also take greater risks and put themselves in danger more often and ranged units do a little less damage but are generally safer further away from danger and compensating by dying less often. This game chose to go in opposite direction.
In balanced MMOs, I've always viewed melee DPS (which I always play, full disclosure there) as the bass and percussion sections of a piece of music. The ranged DPS bring the rest: the crescendos, the highs (bursts), the lows and rests (cooldowns between bursts). But well played melee is there to keep that constant damage going at all times. The ranged makes the rest of it happen. Just my view :)

@scottsmith1652 so you're saying that melee classes should do sustained D.P.S. and ranged classes should do burst with some cooldowns? Melee usually has to move more due to time spent going towards enemies and changing positions because of A.O.E. damage. Which is a D.P.S. loss. Ranged should do less damage than melee, but brimg more C.C. to the table.
@@insertname9736 I hear what you're saying! I haven't played NW very long. My raiding experience comes from WoW. And that is from BC and Wrath. I played mostly furry warrior, rogue and then feral druid in ICC during Wrath. I know games have turned to favor ranged as times have changed. I just recall the overall damage meters would reflect myself and my other melee buddy as top damage because our uptimes were solid. The ranged had a move a lot more or take of other duties at times. It seems like the tables have turned :)
well I'm just coming back to the game , again, and I'm so lost it's been so long I decided to start fresh with a wizard I'm only level 7 but I feel like a melee class because everything is all up in my face all the time except when I can use my daily then I get to watch everything get sucked into the void. I have almost no crowd control at all..I'm just standing there getting wailed on.
Ok so. Keeping this idea of easiest to hardest in mind Atleast with the tanks. I’d like to share my opinion. And am quite open for others to speak there’s . Putting them all in a vacuum and then applying there places I’ll got from easiest to hardest.
1.) Fighter. It isn’t a competition in terms of simplicity and application this class has in its arsenal. As many before has stated. Squishy the fighter is simply not. But please understand where Aragon is coming from when I explain the other tanks. The fighter imo has it all in the simplest ways which only gets better as you learn to cancel knights challenge early. Having the most consistent stamina sustain and potentially the highest stamina sustain out of all the tanks and have access to 20% Dr from Steve warrior and a 20% health increase daily? Is honestly far greater than one would think. Stamina is our health bar. And if we are recovering that with literally every action we do is just 🎉. Not to mention (Atleast for my build) 8% more Dr from when I’m not blocking (Counts and still mitigates if your guard is broken but only when completely empty aka tank busters that actually bust your shield) This tank is simply the easiest and well suited for new comers and experts alike. However what I believe Aragon is trying to say about this class being squishy is that in terms of just constantly mitigating damage in all situations including mobile mobbing. The fighter falls short and for moondancer tank buster. It can be a little awkward as unlike pally. You can’t divide the damage leading up to the buster. You are prone to getting stunned if you can’t anticipate correctly. Lastly Crit avoidance being the fighters forte is just awesome. Getting a free 10% for blocking and another 15% awareness using dig in and oonga boonga levels of aggro using retaliate, and buffing the teams damage with your main hard taunt? No gimmick required? New comers I encourage. Try this class.
Pally: let’s be honest. The new feat for the damaging aggro area is honestly nutty. This is the only tank where I can comfortably drop aggro ring and pick another for stats or buffs. This tank is deceptively challenging and at the same time easy. Pally absolutely dominates mobbing situations and it’s not even a contest. The potential survivability is honestly frightening. As you can get a true mitigation of 50% on top of your stats! Like what? 😂. 80+% if you are using Tiamats and those arm pieces that give Dr for getting hit. Tank busters against a pally is honestly the only thing that can truly threaten to break a fully self buffed pally shield. Otherwise you are chilling. All the while your mechanic is drawing so much aggro. You are the only tank who can afford to just slot in survivability encounters if you wanted to and still tank like a boss. Binding oath will refill your stamina over the course of its duration in bursts of about 1/3rd of your stamina bar 4 times. Not to mention you have RANGED hard taunts (yes plural) aoe aggro at will you truly are suited for every possible situation….the draw back? Divinity. This secondary resource is as good as you make it. And that on its own is based on your stats, skill and knowledge. For newer players it’s easy to leave the mechanic on and just wail at things. But the drain is quite silly albeit reasonably some of your better aggro tools cost divinity. And the primary one we would use “Smite” costs divinity and a class feature slot to even make it a hard taunt. If balancing divinity was out of the question. This would be the easiest tank no doubt about it. Way too many benefits for those who can master the divinity. And honestly truly crushing for those who can’t. Lastly the forte being deflect severity is honestly not all that bad. Deflect being arguably the most misunderstood (or flat ignored) stat in the game by all but the most curious of people is honestly quite ridiculous. Yes. Some if not all tank busters ignore deflect… so? I get it the problem is having to level both it and its severity. But as a pally? This plays into its absurd survivability it’s the only tank where I was seeing 3 digit numbers in Moondancer and that was without abilities aside from the mechanic. For mobbing and you have capped the previous three? Unless you are strictly doing trials. Do yourself a favor on all of your tanks. Try it. Yes if capped it’s 90% chance to reduce the hit by 90% of the damage after all mitigations were applied. So that means 10% of the time you’ll take full damage…. So? What is the gamble? Please explain to me?
3.) Barbarian. Tbh I wanted to put pally and Barb as a tie. But hey this is my opinion and you super welcome to discuss your own! So let’s start out by saying that remember I said fighter has POTENTIALLY the highest stamina sustain? Yeah this class is simply the current holder of highest stamina sustain in the game. With the paragon feat the restores your stamina upon unstoppable ending, invigorate, and sure strike buffed by said unstoppable and what I consider average stamina regen of 65%? The boss has to be very aggressive to beat down your stamina for sure strike to not be considered more than enough during unstoppable. And again..Unstoppable makes you well…unstoppable if you play this right. Barbs have a rhythm imo for each dungeon and each mob. That so long as you do your part. Stamina is hardly ever gone beyond your control. Most of the time it’s by choice. ( good or bad). Barbarians has arguably the most satisfying gameplay out of all the tanks as nothing will ever make you back down if you are well informed in the content you are playing in. Barbarians also has my most favorite taunt in the game as it groups up enemies in a nice clump. It’s no singularity but everyone will capitalize on it like one. The barbarian also brings some unique buffs to the team. Increasing the teams max Hp by 15% making those lovable blue bubbles everyone loves to hide behind that much better if it’s a full shield, 5% physical damage and hopefully once it’s patched. 20% movement speed! Barbarians are the only tank that doesn’t have a % Damage mitigation skill. But instead increases their health to massive amounts. In their kit alone they can increase their HP by 60%. And another 20% from those dragon boots! Making your Hp go even further beyond! Which in turn makes your stamina health pool even more ridiculous. Blocking 2mil and having a bit stamina to spare is no longer a dream you didn’t know you had. Aggro on this class is honestly in my opinion where i might get a little flack. So for general content. Threatening presence + Frustrating slash proc + challengers+ Rage and rally is more than enough. I don’t even use takedown. But for higher content. Is when you might have to consider primal fury. This is where it gets weird. This ability’s magnitude can go up 600! With increased threat modifiers. So its effective damage is honestly dumb. But….it scales with stamina loss….and that to me is just..weird. I’m not saying this isn’t impossible to manage. Far from it. It’s because of the stamina situation utilizing this is some of if not the most easiest big aggro button in the game. But it requires your rage. Aka you 60% health block. And those very dungeons in which you’d consider using this hurt quite a bit unless you’re all nice and capped. But mastering this particular dance. Your health is still very safe with all the options you have. And the fact your forte is awareness’ 😃. Barbarians to me is a tank that can comfortably handle both aoe and single target situations. But not exceeding pally in aoe, nor fighter in single. But what it truly excels in is keeping control. Unstoppable being able to break away control effects on you is just 🤤. Also gain free critical avoidance while blocking during unstoppable is very welcome here. As crit avoidance is very important.

I wanted to add one more thing here. Ahem…. YOU DO NOT NEED A PALLY BUBBLE TO SURVIVE. Each tank innately has the tools to comfortably tank all busters in their kit. 20% mitigations + Health increase daily is more than enough to protect you. And mind you pally has the luxury of just Quatering said busters and Barbie’s do it with not Mitigation abilities. Just health buffs. I encourage you to give story teller bards a chance. Bards are walking Arti calls I tell you!! 🤭😂
The bard healer is significantly stronger than sorcerer. And is also the equal of the cleric. The sorcerer is the poorest of the healers mentioned. If you want a healer who will let you finish the content faster, the best is definitely the Bard

Actually it is all about either CC when you group and stun your enemies or super-high outburst of damage for boss fights after arties or when imobizlized (cocoons etc). Barbie has an encouter that supposedly pulls enemies but on tank :D

@@itsmohdiii3689 in moondancer you have to cover a lot of adds , mdwp you have to control adds (barlor, succubs, mane ...) and in majority you go with DPS checks like cocoons or last shield in mdwp. With DPS check melee is doing OK IMO.

The thing I did on a Ranger and admittedly, I never did any of the hard trials, but the thing I did is, I would use my encounters on the ranged, and then I would use that I would stand switch and use that dash to get up close, mainly the shit out of them, then stand switch again and use theencounter power to back away, shooting and rinse and repeat back-and-forth that way. I never was standing near them that long and I would use up my encounters on one then switch to the other and then back-and-forth.
for fighter always commander's strike so you can get the most of your daily power, it's one of the strongest bursts of damage
Ideally you have someone else in the group who can apply that physical damage debuff, a rogue or Barbarian can. But yeah, if you don't, then you may be better with commanders at least for the Arti call
It's Reave, Commander strike, a particular paragon (which boots daily power by 400 when CS is used). That gives you 5% damage boost on top of 1500+ magnitude dailies (2500 if you are using a particular one).
I use a similar tactic with Reave + CS + Anvil of Doom boosted (1300), it's basically a mini nuke. My item level is pretty low at 30k and I have been able to do 150k in one move in a high roll

It seems clear that the devs haven't learned anything and it's a huge part of why I quit the game (not the only reason, the constant reworks were getting tiresome also to the point the game started feeling like a chore instead of being fun, after working a long day the last thing you want to do is feel like your going to another job lol) I'm sure I'm not the only one who just got fed up and then the melee class was becoming obsolete in end game, I enjoy playing melee (Rogue was my main) but I couldn't get into new end game trials unless they were friends and even then people got frustrated in the new content because you were the weakest link, everyone wanted wizard DPS, the last time we were viable was VOS. A well designed game should not cater to one class only but be balanced so that every class can perform somewhat equally and be viable. Everyone said create a wizard, but I didn't want to play a class that I didn't enjoy. I think I heard the game was laying off devs and rumor that it could shut down eventually & permanently, every one of us who quit the game and stopped investing in the game by purchasing VIP and occasional ZEN store purchases hurts their revenue & bottom line, it's not good business practice to drive away your customers and over the years that's exactly what they've been doing, they're a victim of their own demise. I was thinking about coming back to the game but after this video & seeing nothing has changed I won't. The Bard minstrel does have defensive boosts/offensive boosts. Use the gambler feat instead of storyteller. You get the 2 extra songs that make a huge difference and should move the bard to the easy slot.
I wish this game had more races, multiclassing, and less restrictive in weapon types
You'd think whisperknife rogue would perform well in fights where you downtime is high due to you needing to avoid mechanics as you'd be able to throw your dots up then dodge around a bit then get back in.

you can't maintain that effect or provide that much security for your team? do you even play the bard?
combine the level of difficulty to maintain all buffs and the amount of buttons to press to cast heals versus other healers, you have a much more challenging time doing your role, versus other healers!
@Aragon- it is challenging need to maintain 2-3, 4 if you're pushing it. Even at that it's not hard to maintain the effects of Curtain Call, especially in this dungeon, with the multiple ways to gain AP. there's other factors like your teammates ability to not stand in the red, you can still do your job efficiently.
It's very justified because it can't shield the tank whenever it pleases. The paladin and the warlock can repeatedly shield the tank in a very short period of time. For example when they're needed to apply a shield for the stun and apply a refreshed shield for the tankbuster.
You can't make queues without a paladin, or at least a Hellpact warlock that can shield the tank but you can make queues without a minstrel. The warlock has the added benefit that it can be a healer or a shielder depending on who it is partenered with. So yes, I would say the two should be ranked above the bard for this module/trial alone.

Obviously having a paladin makes it easier, but that still doesn't cancel the fact that the Bard can still out perform when done correctly. You should watch a previous stream I even solo heal ADOM, Gus had a bard for his 6 man Moondancer run.
I'm convinced you see 1 person (aragon) say or do 1 think on a PREVIEW video, and expect that to be the one and only way to play the trial when that's not the case. It's very possible, and extremely easy. I'm surprised with all his keybinds he can't find a simple way to play the bard and make it efficient.
Bard is clearly top tier because of the buff he provide, 2 pally is not as good as a paly and a bard combo and no other combo beat that one. Bard is also the better one for melt group. The fact that you even consider the cleric in the same tier as the bard make me believe you have not played much of it. In the new trial I keep giving the full 15% dr/dmg + the debuff armor + grace, vistani while also shielding people with bigger shield than pally (other than its single target) because there is so much add you can shield everything so easily. The auto heal at 50% also pair very well with the pally.
I can see why paly is first but there is absolutely no way why the cleric is even in the same tier than the bard lol not even close to it and even the warlock. They both should be dropped one and bard moved up once if you rate it on that content.
Look at it like this. If you need to solo heal the trial, what would it be easier on? Bard and Cleric are okay. Neither will have an easy time at it. Bard has buffs, but harder to play, needing to learn songs etc. Cleric is easier but you need to be fast with bastion to save ppl

I have been playing a lot of DDO lately after giving it a real go and wanted to get into this game the same way. Your guides and lists are helpful.
I bought enough slots to make alts of every class and I will mostly solo due to time constraints in daily life.
I would assume that all the dps paragons for those classes that have alternative choices (tank or healer) is the way to go, but what about the classes that only have dps choices? Are the paragons you pointed out still viable as a solo character or should I go the other path? Oh and I know it's not a big deal to some people, but the word Melee (spells ME-Lee)
is actually pronounced May-LAY. That's the correct pronunciation.

I find when trying to animation cancel on Warlock, I actually cancel the Encounter. Most of them are so slow and spongey to use.

@@gampie13 I can say that warlock shouldn't be that high on the list when you look at regular DPS rankings and the way canceling is used to (supposedly) get 25% damage output. AoE just looks cool, but it is too weak, ripping out the curse cannot be impacted by canceling or high regen. I've seen only few that were aspiring to have top tier and even they had significantly less damage than wizards. I gladly would give up the canceling for improved timing and mechanics on warlock hellbringer.

I'm glad I stopped playing cleric completely... The class has both bad support (good heal, but no mitigation compared to both other healers) and requires to be very good at mechanics to be able to compete damage-wise. I also like tanking better, but that's another topic. Warlock looks much more interesting and fun to play compared to a cleric. I'm happy with my barbarian tank, even before the changes it was fun, now it's still fun but also viable

what happened? 😮 when i played the game some years ago devouted cleric as one of the original classes where really good just using astral shield and divine armor to grand a really good shield and have had another spells to reduce allies damage and increase damage on enemies.
My Arcanist is always on the damage board, even when her IL is 5-6k lower than all the other DPS.

aoe at wills don't necassarily make warden better than hunter. that's like saying whisperknife is better than assassin in there since they have shuriken toss. warden simply has too many flaws to keep up with hunter. plus this trial isn't solely aoe, there is a large focus on bursting down lieutenants and captain.

i wished the warlock dps had an attack to pull enemies together, would help alot with croud control.. although for aoe its probably still pretty decent compared to other dps classes..
btw does anybody know where to get those balloons seen at 6:44, or where they have been obtainable? drives me crazy everytime i see them cause i cant find anything about them ^^

I don't understand why you only list the damage classes once. The ranger has two damage paths, just like the mage and rogue
Hmm, the main reason is because both paths deal damage, and so you would just switch to whatever path is better. So I didn't see the need to rank the other path, when it is just going to rank lower. However they have recently improved, particularly the rogue whisperknife, and are working on Ranger Warden. So in my next ranking, I will most likely show how they compare

But pre mod 15, melee the king of dps due to CA only apply around target.. hence GWF, TR and fighter dominate.
@@Aragon- , LOL , why not make the logical adjustments early on. Melee does more damage but takes greater risks. Ranged , a little less damage but are safer further away from danger. The path they chosen only leads to constant meddling with updates back and forth and we as player have to constantly change our focus depending on meta for each module.

Seriously, I see people asking for things to be nerfed on classes they don't play because it's supposedly 'too easy' and they get jealous over nothing, the last time was the DC healing word heal by the Warlocks who wanted to be the best healers by nerfing the DC. That's just what they tend to do, they see one class who appears to be easier to play or do more damage etc than them (the fact they may be good at playing and building a build doesn't matter, they don't even think about that) and their first reaction is 'nerf it please!!! wahhhhhh!!!!' I totally agree with u, it should have been the other way for years, don't nerf it, bring other things up to match.
So really my comment was just that when the CW was put up the top on 'easy' with a spotlight on it people are going to now ask for it to be nerfed because 'it's not fair' and they want the CW to be the same difficulty or whatnot that their preferred class is. That's just how many of their minds work.

You say Rogue is melee, but Whisperknife is missile, and so are several Assassin powers. And with Whisperknife you can use Vengeance's Pursuit to teleport into melee range, Stealth and use Lashing Blade or a Daily, and then roll backwards out of the red.

you just can't play whisperknife in any meaningful way at the moment in master content
if you're trying to say rogue is ranged, it really isn't in any viable way, which is all that matters. the only semblance of non-melee is potb, but even that's still mid-ranged. but that's one of the factors that makes it our lifeline for sure. whisperknife as a whole doesn't work in moondancer, it's only viable for normal dungeon aoe. and the only ranged things about that are blitz, which is great, and... at wills, which are more or less negligible damage with how weak they are compared to the rest of the kit.

Rogue is mid-range, yes. More like 40 to 60 feet, not long-ranged like Wizard and Ranger at 80 feet.

I do not think you have the first idea about any of the Whisperknife's capabilities at all, either ranged or AoE.
And I think that this is because ever since the WK stopped being the Perma-Stealth King of PvP in mod 5 or 6 or so, everyone's been saying that the WK is shyte and have never played it.

So they have nerfed melee, buffed ranged. Bottlenecking you to play what they want you to play. Ranged.

I agree Vanguard is not the easyest to play. But most squshy its not. Those extra stats equal 25% also dig in regenerate shield. With the right build and player survive its best at. And it really shines in solo bosses. All tanks are good. But squshy its not.
You notice it when you are using maxed build and you can get all the stats high already. Fighter doesn't have anything extra, like paladin with 30% damage resist daily and Barbarian with 35% HP daily. Fighter only has 20% HP daily. This is what I mean. You feel squishier when having to take massive tankbusters.
@Aragon- lol you can build a Max fighter but apparently you can't play one. Pally main but it's obvious the pally tank is the most squishy tank you see it really when you Max all three and run them in the identical group only changing your tank. Pally has great auras for buffs and many reasons I prefer but dig in is simply easier and more effective than having to trigger and then guard to avoid stun and you have maintain both Stam and divinity so as for tanks I disagree rest is reasonable. I rate barb as highest potentially but not in my personal performance yet with exception to mtos 1st boss come and get it
@@BirdsRntReal I solo tanked mdwp last mod. All alone. Taking it directly. Whitout dig in and those extra stats i can use earth examble and other things to focus on. I get more survive. I really doubt my pala in that mod whould even be close taking all that damage solo. Its also a delay in on off tab. If anyone else could do it. Maybe barb. With solo healing build. Thats a maybe tho. Then again it depends on what criteria we are judging. Best shield. Vanguard by far. Best rotational barb. That berserk immunity is awesome. Best versatile paladin. About squishy, thats one thing Vanguard is not known for. Ask end game Vanguards if they think they are squishy. I like pala much. But in my honest opinion its maybe the most squishy in terms of overall tanking. Barb had aggro problems. But thats fixed. I actually want palla tank to get a little buff. Honestly
@Jan.Martin.Brenden I think the pally is fine bc I run everything deathless on pally generally but most pallys are struggling bc new trial requires the big guard and well anyone saying otherwise is dumb, the pally big guard requires two buttons instead of one and two resources to conserve while facing the appropriate direction. I do fine I have 10,000 hours pally tanking but people watching aragon gonna say hmmm he dumb n doesnt play any tanks. He does but come on no one I've ever met thought his videos were more than click bait

Warlock is harder to play especially with the animation cancelling. The ranking isn't right in my opinion. And even with ani cancelling, if u play against a well skilled cw, hr or tr, there is no chance to be number 1 dps as a warlock.
