- Well, here we are. The perfect combination I was talking about has been found. This is 2935 MX09 EKP on Route 5 connecting Mold and Ellesmere Port, and the small towns in between. This is one of those Pulsars with a slippery Voith, so the amount of kickdown in this one is insane. I also believe this is my longest video (not including streams).
You will see many moments of kickdown and redlining (all marked down below), some were unfortunately failed attempts however the ones that worked sound brilliant. In the eyes of a lot of people, this is Chester’s best Pulsar. Personally, there’s 1-2 that are better, but I’m still in no doubt that this is a strong performer and much liked by drivers.

Sounds great, i miss these we used to have pulsars on my local routes now they are all Enviro 200 MMC's People took them for granted!
Aw, that’s a shame. I’m sorry to hear. I will admit that Enviro200 MMCs are just as good as these under the right driver, but it’s hard to come by. Hopefully there’s one by you who can do so!

Nuh uh the Voith is definitely used to this driver if I saw this exact driver I would of asked him or her to absolutely belt it.
Well, he floors everything to entertain himself! Got a fair few videos with him driving 🤣
This is amazing! 😍 Still yet to tick one of these off myself 😅
Thanks mate! I can highly recommend these to you, just a shame they’re not in London. If you want a suggestion, there’s a few CX58 MK1 Pulsars in Hemel Hempstead which have came down from us; a couple of which I’ve ticked off myself before Bolton closed last year. They are absolute machines which have been well cared for and I know for a fact you’ll love them, especially with this type of performance!
Superb driver!
Big Kudo's to him to drive a Pulsar like that... The voith already seems to got used to his driving by doing downshifts before kickdown hit. (ooor he had the foot on the brake that causes alot of confusion in the computer)
Great vid!
Thanks! I’ll pass this onto him.
This bus has a slippery Voith as it is so it often goes into kickdown without the driver’s foot on the floor, however with his foot on the floor, it still made a huge difference in terms of acceleration.
Hopefully be back with more from this legend…
@@welshbusenthusiast2210 There was this VDL overhere (couple of them) when there was 1 driver driving them things you know he'd drove it.... They would be very confused the next day doing kickdowns without actually kickdown... one time the voith went ultra crazy and did the unthinkable at 2000rpm it did a downshift into gear 2.... that was truely insane when that happened... did i record that.... no i didnt i regret that XD
@@AllianceB95 Unfortunately, that’s not really how they work. It all depends on how much acceleration is used and how the Voith is coping at that present moment.
@@welshbusenthusiast2210 Also the loadsensor ;)
@@AllianceB95Ah, that makes sense. I’ve looked into this and it turns out I was wrong. The bus does in fact get used to the driver.
👌👌
Pulling these out as much as I can! Just a shame I can’t get an MMC like this on video as easily as hoped.
