    Steve, that's Fantastic. I get the same thing going on with on lookers in disbelief, Btw, I want to clear this up, My Mossberg 835 is a rifled slug gun, However, this world class accuracy from something you made yourself at pennies on the dollar. I don't believe that these can be beat from other molds available on the market. The Hydrant slug is a go getter as I had put four shots through the same hole @100-yards. I still have the fragmentation slug to put to the test, I'm hoping for good results with it even though it has a attached wad of a home brew. Ya, I remember you running out into the parking lot after shooting those hydrant slugs for the first time, tears of joy and dancing, deliverance from a lifetime of discouragement and struggle, the chains were broken, bondage was gone and you were set free, even some of my viewers think that I cherry paced that video @100-yards, however you confirm what is true. Good shooting buddy, Dave

      Steel Punisher 69 - One of those guys I recall walking down to the 50 yard targets (he's an NRA Bullseye shooter practicing his slow fire 50) and lamenting about the big groups I was getting at 50 yards with Lee and Lyman slugs, his reply to me was "Hey, it's shotgun slugs - that's what you get.." He was going down the line telling other shooters the good news - I think that's why a lot of 'em came over to check out the terrain... Have a great day, FC Steve

    Steve this is awesome! All the slug shooters and hunters out there owe Dave and yourself a great debt for bringing this to light. And James as well for making these readily available without delay here in the U.S. That paradox has got to be a real hammer for hunting.

      Nick Ross - Don't forget a certain Nick Ross...You recall my testing with damaged tail wad compression zones...the accuracy wasn't any better than with Lee or Lyman slugs once those damaged compression zone wads were shot. Your reinforcing clips make the difference between "same old, same old" and "Wow, wow". Otherwise, we'd be seating those wads by hand and rejecting every second or third one. King Arthur would have said to you "Well done..." Best Regards, Steve

    I got a load from ballistic products that was giving me about 8” groups at 50 yards with the 7/8oz lee slug at about 1500fps...I could reliably hit milk jug sized targets out to 50 yards for pennies on the dollar compared to factory slugs, And I thought that was amazing and probably the pinnacle of what I could ever expect from handloaded slug accuracy. And now new technology and ideas advance the possibilities!

  • @boomerrangerron
    @boomerrangerron 4 роки тому +1

    Steve, just simply awesome shooting and you can really handle recoil! I shot some handloads yesterday and got 1 1/2 to 2" three shot groups at 50yds using the THUG SLUGS and the DGS slugs from BPI! So glad you introduced me to them! I'm loading them in Fiocchi primed hulls and my 12 GA pump liked 25 Grs of Green Dot best! But they shot 30 GRS of HERCO just as effectively! I solved the loose filling problem years ago with expensive gold caps and onlays! So I can handle up to 1900 FPS with ease! Keep up the great work from the hot lead zone!

Paradox is listed as .724 diameter for all driving bands/belts, where as the "Italian" (aka the Fire hydrant), is listed as the front side driving band being .724, and the rear driving band only .700?

    More to the point is , I have found hollow points work better than solid / flat points on deer . On bigger game it is possible that solid points could be as good or better . It's more where you hit them , than what you hit them with . Also on deer > 200 to 220 grain HP work just fine . I have never had HP slugs to test . The issue is the ( too strong bullets ) zip right through & do less work than you would think . Might be good for shooting 2 deer with one shot .

    • @danoneill2846
      @danoneill2846 5 років тому

      What I have seen many times , if you only hit them in the ribs , heart , lungs .. more often that not , unless you know your shot was on target , you wouldn't know they were hit at all , they run 50-80 yards & drop . The only time I have seen them drop at the shot and or show they are hit is with a 308 hollow point / soft point ( 150 gr ) or if you hit some bone or spine .

      @@danoneill2846 What you might have missed is the Frangible Slugs. Its the same slug with a different plug (the Thor's Axe channel shows them), they cut about an 8 inch path of ruin inside a deer on a side shot.

    • @danoneill2846
      @danoneill2846 5 років тому

      I have seen them do that , I just looked on this channel for a link & couldn't find it . Same with cast handgun bullets , it's more complex , but for deer or around the house I think it's worth it . For large game like pigs or bear solid points are likely better . I have only hunted deer , they don't fight back , if I was bear hunting , I would not shoot for the ribs , they may be dead on their feet but they could still get to you . @@johnparrish9215

      Dan O'Neill - No doubt that is the reason the Russians developed the Frangible slugs - they disrupt and break up into 125 grain segments on impact. Antonio - Eezox is available from Amazon and also from Bullberry Barrel Works. It's more expensive than a lot of other products, but you don't use much of it per treatment...Clean your gun by using a tight fitting patch with Eezox - follow up with two looser fit dry patches and let the stuff dry in your barrel leaves a bonded surface. The US military is using the same stuff in a dry applied form, the reports are that it is stable from way subzero to hot enough to boil - and fouling, copper and light leading comes off easily. I've been using it for a couple of months now, and the stuff grows on you.... Best to ya, Steve

    Really Nice work Fortunecookie45LC! Incredible results from the Russian slugs. I guess we cant get them anymore though because of the import ban of Brandon's. Uncle Jim and 6 shooter Texan have been experimenting with the 7/8 Lee Keylock slug and 3D printing a tail wad that glues into the keylock base and they seem to be pretty accurate so far. He calls them his HOBO slugs as he cuts the center crimp out of Winchester and Federal store bought ammo and then puts these in after draining the factory shot. No crimp needed and are holding well, because of the factory crimp edge still on the case. Here is a link. ua-cam.com/video/wTbkVFIS0TE/v-deo.html he has a few videos on these. I thought you would have to have rifled (spin) on these slugs to be that accurate. Anybody can make these with a 3D printed slug cutter and a Lee 7/8 mold and Casting pot. No Reloading machine needed! Total cost = almost nothing as you get 1 1/8 shot back for your 7/8 slug! Just a fun way to start into 12 ga reloading!
