I'm a fellow Aussie and got back from Peshwar and Kabul last week. If you are still in Afghanistan it makes it so much easier to get into Tourist spots in Kabul like the Ziarat-e Sakhi Mosque, or areas like Bamyan if you have an invitation letter from a tourist guide who's got you permission for areas otherwise you might be refused to go into some good spots. The Taliban are really strict on security so please be careful of filming them or women without permission but I'm sure you know that.
Honestly its an incredible country, only there is risk involved, if your willing to take the risk, in my opinion its worth it! Definitely hands down one of the most amazing places I've been to.
Welcome to my homeland, enjoy your time. Anything you see there is original and organic. Missed home for 10 years Southern California. Enjoy the real fruits and natural nutes and vegetables. People are extremely hospitable, just believe your comment scenes. We have all kind of people, I think you found a great person as a guide.
Hi Chris, as an Afghan when I was working in Kabul i was having the same experience travel over this route. It is a very unique experience, gives you the feeling of being alert and always making your way out. Then it was a normal thing. I hope you have enjoyed your stay and btw that was the best video I saw because it was in its orignal form. I wanted to see that and it remined me the old days.
Thank you brother, i appreciate the kind words! Yeah it is still to this day one of the most amazing experiences of my life, that chunk of land between the border and Kabul is really something amazing, like nothing I've ever seen before
@@farandbeyond I dont know from where i should start. the taxi driver is good but still he didnt conveyed the right information. i am from the same area and before 2004 this area was the most peaceful area around pakistan. All things goes wrong when USA war on terror came here and our so called stupid president musharaf destroyed everything. this bad taliban is also the USA and President musharaf creation. search for naik muhammad. the Pathans (pushtoon) has a culture to protect their guests over there life you can watch the movie "Lone Survivor" 2013. The same mistake has been repeated by USA and President Musharaf. He has done a deal with Naik Muhammad for sending back the foreign guests staying there since Russia war in Afghanistan. while in the peace deal the US predator UAV hit naik Muhammad when he has assured that in 2 or 3 weeks they will send back the foreigners to afghanistan but they cannot surrender them as it is against pashtoon culture. and the stupid President Musharaf takes the admission that he has hit the naik muhammad who was the Leader of Pakistan taliban made for the Russia fall back by USA. Then the local people got angered and bad people like Baitullah mehsud took over the pakistan faction of taliban and they in return start bombing pakistan army and people. and about this area drugs issue this too was the fruit of Russia inavsion on Afghanistan supported by USA for the financial support of war. These people are all very good people. All they need is education and jobs and you will find them the most peaceful people on earth. See still there is severe poverty no education. Once in 2019 when i went to the Tirrah valley to visit my Ancestral hometown. i saw one school near our home which has got only two teachers one is 7 standard pass and another is 9 standard. the teachers didnt even have passed the school and are teaching there. basically children there dont go to school and start doing petty jobs from the very early age. This area just need education and all other wrongs will be absolutely zeroed.
Thank you, Chris, for sharing your experience with us. The Torkham border can indeed be chaotic, but I'm glad you made it to Kabul safely. The white drink you encountered near Kabul is called Doogh, which is similar to Pakistani lassi; however, we prefer it simple and sour. Your attempt to eat with your hands was interesting. Your host suggested it as a way for you to experience something new since you’re used to eating with a spoon. You wouldn’t have offended him if you had eaten with a spoon. Also, the green dish you had was okra. When your host brought you yogurt, he was indicating that we often eat yogurt with our food-it’s an Afghan way of dining. The white dish you had was either plain yogurt or a pressed yogurt we call Chaka. In hindsight, using a spoon might have made your meal easier. Cheers

13:44 guys, whoever want to travel to Afghanistan keep in mind that you don't HAVE to wear traditional clothes in Afghanistan, i donno if it's the same in Pakistan but you're okay with your normal clothing in Afghanistan! The people in there wear traditional clothing because it's much cheaper compared to normal modern clothing and you can put on that stuff if you don't wanna attract the people's attention too much otherwise there is no rule to make you wear those! I am an Afghan!
Not once did I see someone in normal clothing, I spoke to a guy from up north who told me, in his town people wear normal clothing, but he also said, if he goes to places like Kabul or other areas that are heavy with Taliban, he wears the traditional clothing, because everyone else is! I’m just relaying what I understand and what I understand, looks to be correct. Not to mention Afghanistan is more dangerous than Pakistan, so as a guest there, you want to minimise attention, which in turn minimises risk.

Thousands of your countrymen were massacred in that road that to Kabul. I am talking about Anglo Afghan War. But Subhan Allah those people never thought that one day thier offspring will be passing through this road safely and securely.
We were actually talking about that on the way to kabul, imagining how they managed to make it threw that terrain! Its rugged and hard terrain, its not surprising they had to retreat! Going up against people who knew the terrain all while trying to move over that terrain, its a sure loss in my opinion!
@@farandbeyondAfghans are also tough as they are used to this rugged terrain and wars of 44 years And there are examples of their bravery and hospitality even with the enemies ❤

Crying to pay 12 dollars for a 50km ride. When you easily spend 20 dollars on a pizza at home. Come on mate😂
I've been waiting for the keyboard warrior to show up! This is for you, buddy 🏆.
Clearly, you're not a traveler, and you don't understand the dynamics of travel. All bark and no bite from your soft couch at home, while working a 9-5. You do your Job and you let me do mine yeah!
Exactly. That’s what I was trying to tell him. If you are that stingy or don’t like those people to make a few dollars extra, why traveling there. The $9 rent is for locals, not foreigners; excuse me SIR!
@@shehzadzamurad9188 yeah embarrassing these cheap westerners
That's Ocra what you are eating towards the end.
Orca?
Orca means killer whale in English haha what is Orca?
Which dish?
@@farandbeyond No, OCRA

Thousands of your countrymen were massacred in that road that to Kabul. I am talking about Anglo Afghan War. But Subhan Allah those people never thought that one day thier offspring will be passing through this road safely and securely.
Yeah thank god times change aye 🙏
We were actually talking about that on the way to kabul, imagining how they managed to make it threw that terrain! Its rugged and hard terrain, its not surprising they had to retreat! Going up against people who knew the terrain all while trying to move over that terrain, its a sure loss in my opinion!
@@farandbeyondAfghans are also tough as they are used to this rugged terrain and wars of 44 years
And there are examples of their bravery and hospitality even with the enemies
❤
Welcom may hoom
Thank you brother
