It looks cool, but the reason they don’t come that way from the factory, is because the LED’s for the outer brake lamps are the only lamps in the taillights that are bright enough to be used as a turn signal. The remaining LED’s can’t be seen very well in inclement weather or direct sunlight, since they’re only bright enough to be running lights.
It’s not like on some BMW/Audi models, where the entire taillight LED has two stages of brightness.

I agree! It’s a stupid law/rule you cannot have signals on a moving part/hatch. Then how does the Audi Q get away with it? The lights on this are all on the hatch and move with it.
The reason they don't is because the running lights aren't bright enough to be seen in fog or poor weather.
Notice how sharp and piercing the brake lights are? The running lights are not like that.

Best quote "There's a lot of stuff you could mess up on your car" Having to use 2 devices to code speaks volumes, one to code and one to read (correct coding procedure) otherwise you'd get lost part way through...unless you can read German everyone raise your hand if you can.

OBDeleven giveaway submission - So I don't have a Golf just yet, but I plan to within the next few weeks. Already been looking around and have done a lot of research, just contemplating if I want a GTI or R edition. I live in CA so 90% of the time I don't think the 4weel drive is a must. But no matter what I know I'm gonna get a used car because I plan to do significant modifications to it and likely void the warranty pretty early on. Getting the OBDeleven is going be one of the first modification that I would be doing .

Question: The factory brake lights in NA seem to use the EU turn signals (the clear bit) in red as well to give a bigger brake light/turn signal. Does the clear piece contain only red LEDs or can they be switched programmatically to amber?
if you want amber turn signals, i think you need a completeley new european spec outer housing, repin of the connecor, and programming. i might not be 100% correct
@@albertlam1249 makes sense that they would only include red LEDs I guess from a cost perspective but anything is possible lol. Connectors are probably the same the though which would mean if you get an EU tail lamp the amber LEDs would come on with the brake light. I've seen an Audi that had that conversation recently and it did this.

Ideally the horizontal bars should get brighter when pressing on the brake and dimmer when releasing when parking lights are on

So, the lights that you have blinking now are the DRLs, right? What light are on when your headlights are on for normal driving? Not breaking or blinking. The comments in the Reddit post said he had no lights on at night so he revereted back, and that does not seem right.
Only scenario of all tailghts off is if you use 4ways. They are DRLs mine are on all the time Scandinavian style, and they all blink when signaling. Most signaling occurs when braking IMO, so I think the car is plenty visible even fully coded to blink outer and inner.
I totally would pay money to have you code my GTi. LOL

I labeled the long coding of module 09 with OBDeleven. I was thinking that it was like in the golf 7. A time ago I see that my labels was in the OBDeleven of another cars....
In the golf 7.5 the long coding of module 09 is all 0. All the programming is by adaptations.

I'm just looking to do the first part of the brake light coding and I have read others completed all 3 parts your tail light might not be bright enough for day time which I can't confirm but could be safety reason where they might not see you put your turn signal on.
This is so sick. I hope I can figure out a way to similarly code my mk7 GLI!
I just want to point out that this modification is very dangerous, as the tailights that are used for turn signals now are a lot dimmer than turn signals. Hopefully people stop doing modifications without even knowing if they're legal.

Hi, I just followed your steps but thought you were activating rear DRLs to be on all the time.
I have the European tail lights and they already light outwards. Now the brake light flashes on the side that is indicating.
Is there a step through to reverse what you've shown?
I understand doing a hard reset isn't a good idea.

How are you going to indicate when your daytime running lights are on at night time ? Doesn’t make sense
I just did this but when hitting my brake lights during the day only my top and other ones come on not all of them
If you want all on enable Scandinavian DRL also. I never coded them to be brake lights. They are on as rear DRL for visibility/style.
I have just noticed that the inner light will blink only if car engine is off, once ON only outer will blink with signals, do u know how to fix that plz??

so how did the lane assist change feel? Hate how it bounces off the lane lines super late. The adaptive cruise works so good I let the car drive its self practically in stop and go traffic. be nice to have it stay in the lane better as well.

Why is your hazard lights (4way lights) red and your brake lights are kinda orange colour?? Maybe its just the lighting in the video 🤷♂️

Hey - Netcruzer, thanks for your videos, I got the next gen pro and done a ton of little things, I did the headlights so the turning signals are with drl's and they still blink properly on turning signal. - I like it, however I don't know how to change it back. What I would like to do is set them to be on "only if I select the daytime running lights" on the dial or on the central unit.
If you have the knowledge to have this mod done I would appreciate it. thank you. I have the 2017 MK7 R in Canada.

Look on forums or search for Tiguan tail light coding, as each vehicle is different. Good Luck!
Would you happen to know if new top signals, would work to brake as well? Like a second higher intensity? Does that make sense? Kinda how the original brake/signal was, but now in the “new” top signal.

Great video! I’m wondering if you also have the high intensity brake light (flashing brake light) with these settings as well? I have this coding done as well as the high intensity brake light (through OBDeleven “apps”) but it doesn’t seem to work. I’m not sure if the euro mod caused it to not work or if it wasn’t working before.
How have you tested high intensity? As far as I know it rapid blinks rear lights under hard emergency braking. I enabled it but have not verified it works.
Netcruzer RC TECH CARS my rear window is kinda dirty so the brake light refracts across it. I was driving down a road with no traffic and did a quick stomp on my pedal while watching through my rear view mirror

I have not heard to that one but it likely is possible. Many many fields in the lighting canbus module.
I would love to learn how to do some mods or the canbus. I just bought my 2nd golf, I got a mk7.5 high line with R-Line Package. I have the Australian version of the car.
Hi, great video! I'd like to ask you a question. I just bought the same car in Europe and I want to change my rear turn light from amber to red. The part seems to be the same but my turn light is actually your big brake light when the video starts and it's amber. Is there something about changing color of led from amber to red in the obdeleven? Thank you!
You have euro dynamic signals, highly desirable in North America. You cannot change the colour of them that I know of.

Lox Wilson ah, yeah UA-cam doesn’t allow photos on UA-cam comments. As for how to change it to red, that might not be possible without physical changes. But look on OBDeleven and VCDS forums for help, see if anyone else wanted to do what you are trying.
You know it says adaptation and not adaption right? I’m sure someone else pointed it out by now, I just noticed it in a few of your vids I’ve been binging.

It's now a year and a half later (after this video and OBDII still hasn't got all the updates done so the OBDII Pro works "completely" some functions work but not all, talk about taking their sweet time
After watching your other video I came back. Is this stock or is this the "Scandinavian drls" and stock brake / flashers?
Scandinavian DRL means the LED inner and outer on rear lights stay ON all the time. So yes I have that enabled. Then I manually coded it to use the LED inner and outer as signals too as shown in this video.
You wouldent possible have the code schedule for the lane assist. I cannot find it to buy in appstore.. i have a b7 2014.
Use forums to search. I don’t know the coding for your car.

Just love how every car today all differ in height. the way they light up etc. Some cars the brakes are near the ground or way too high. changing for cosmetics is not a winner in my boo

You need PRO access in OBDeleven. No credits for this it’s custom long coding. You can also use VCDS to do this.
