for all the critical people: Kurtag is famously (or better said infamously) strict with ANY musical score. especially with big masters, like Mozart. if he wanted to play this piece not as an homage for his late lifelong partner and wife on the death anniversary day, then he would have played it differently. and even that performance would be 1000% accurate and highly musical as possible. otherwise this man can't play music. once he explained why he gave up on a concert pianist career: his technical abilities could never match his musical expectations. even later at his life, he played piano only if he could play the piece (even his own ones) rigorously perfect. (check the Kurtag: Perpetuum Mobile interpretation by him on UA-cam) is this recording a Mozart piece reinterpreted/recomposed by Kurtag? definitely. it is the one and only version/interpretation that should exist from this Mozart piece? no, but it will be one of the most touching one, ever played.
Imagine Schubert playing Bach at the piano. Yes, it is the same here. I had the fortune of hearing him and Márta live in 2011. Best performance I´ve heard.
The spedd is perfect. Us students can progress with an extraordinary Maestro like Mr. Kurtag. He understand Mozart better than many. It is a wonderful execution of one of my favorite sonatas.
@Valerie O'Brien I think this is a beautiful and thoughtful reinterpretation of the piece. The title of the performance is "Mártának", or "For Márta", in memory of Mr. Kurtág's wife. It was recorded on the one-year anniversary of her passing.
@Valerie O'Brien - György Kurtág is one of the world's greatest composers - and by extension, one of the world's greatest musicians. Who are you to criticize a performance played by a 94 year old genius in memory of his wife? How you , or I, or, for that matter, Mozart would play it is completely irrelevant.
Even I don’t know much about Kurtag as a pianist I can clearly hear and see that he is a master of the piano but what I really want to say is I love him and music he is playing

I think he plays perfectly from a pianist's point of view too ...
아내를 위한 연주인건 어떻게 아셨나요? 혹시 다른 연주도 있다면 들을 방법이 있나요?
Sublime, heavenly, celestial. Kurtag is amazing. 94 years old!
He plays this very beautifully
It’s nice seeing uprights being played, their distinct character is refreshing to hear.

I love the sound of this upright piano. This man has such a beautiful touch.
95 years old Hungarian composer. I am not expert, but he is a well respected contemporary musician
@@hidvezso75 To you as Hungarian may it be said: He is the greatest living composer.

Großartig gespielt. Man spürt, wie sehr er diese Musik liebt. 👏
Genius. Thank you dearest Maestro. Only genuine master can make an upright piano sound so divinely.
It's so nice to see him play Mozart with this much feeling! Really astonishing, and very beautiful :D
Es gibt keine Worte. Mozart. Kurtág. Wunder.
Einverstanden ... Woerter fehlt. Himmlisch gespielt.
Gyönyörű gondolatok - magasztos érzelmek - gyógyító zene! Köszönet a közzétételért Gyuri bácsi!
Can’t belive a man can make an upright sound grand

He is substituting fingers to hold the bass, looks strange at first but it's very common!
