I loved undiscovered country. I actually think it deserves 3rd place though. Wrath of Khan will be 1st for me, the oyage home is number 2, undiscovered country is number 3 and generations is number 4.
To be fair, star trek the motion picture was leaps and bounds above the original in a lot of ways when it comes to how they put the film together and the graphics and such. It was also a lot less cheesy and set a tone far more serious than previously th hought. Then we get wrath of Khan which was phenomenal in all ways and we wouldn't have gotten that without the motion picture. *shrug*
He based his ranking on trying to be cool and follow the mainstream opinion and obviously haven't really invested in the movies The only TOS odd numbered film that's arguably bad is the Final Frontier and even that movie has it's good moments
My favorite is “The Voyage Home”. A commandeered Klingon vessel, the crew having to rely on its wits and resourcefulness, time travel, no enemy to battle but a set of problems to solve... and the original cast. What’s not to love?:)
The punk song “I Hate You” (from the bus scene) is so perfectly written, I was blown away to find out not only was it written just for the movie, but the writer never wrote a punk song before. I’m not a Trekkie myself, so I always recommend IV for fellow non-Trek fans.
Jason Bean it’s a fan favorite for sure Time travel back to earth plus WHALES and plenty of funny one liners. What’s not to love? I’m from Iowa I only work in outer space
Undiscovered Country I can watch over and over, the end sequence where Bones and Spock operate on the Torpedo and Kirk delivers his best clenched fist "FIRE" is just the peak of everything that is star trek.
The scene where Kirk comes to Spock with the mission and Spock gives command of Enterprise to Kirk is probably the one that best defines their relationship.
My List 1.) First Contact 2.) Wrath of Khan 3.) Generations 4.) Star Trek VI 5.) Star Trek IV 6.) Star Trek 2009 7.) Star Trek Beyond 8.) Star Trek III 9.) Star Trek Into Darkness 10.) Star Trek V Insurrection is hard to rank because the story isn't bad, but it was such a huge step down form First Contact in production quality and storytelling and remains an uninteresting film. Glad to see & hear Star Trek: Enterprise being acknowledged as hitting its stride when it was prematurely cancelled. Personally, I find Insurrection worse than The Final Frontier; it just had a TV Movie feel. Even Sir Patrick Stewart & Brent Spiner expressed dismay over the fact that they were reworked back into their season 1 personas. Star Trek: Nemesis does have a familiar look because it took elements from Star Trek II & Star Trek VI. For me, the best Star Trek film was Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. It was a fitting finale to classic Star Trek's cast & a sci reflection on the end of the Cold War in the real early 1990s.
Christopher Lloyd was the very first Klingon I ever saw, and he scared the shit out of me! Or at least the Bird of Prey did with the way it was introduced.
13) Nemesis 12) Generations 11) Insurrection 10) The Final Frontier 9) Star Trek 8) Beyond 7) Into Darkness 6) The Motion Picture 5) The Voyage Home 4) The Undiscovered Country 3) First Contact 2) The Search for Spock 1) The Wrath of Khan Yeah I get that TSFS seems too high, ST '09 too low, Into Darkness not low enough, etc... but it's my list!
Finally! Someone who gets how good the TNG films are. Yes, the Kirk movies are great, but it's long overdue we recognize how great The Next Generation movies are too. First Contact is amazing. It visually explains the origins of the Star Trek universe, and the event that leads to the Federation in 100 years. Generations plays like a 2 hour episode but it has some interesting ideas. I agree, Nemesis isn't that bad. It came out when I was 12 and I loved it at the time and still enjoy it to this day.
I’m glad you bumped up IV, because I think a lot of people wrote that one off, because it’s the “fun one” However, this list needs some major addressing. Putting Generations and Beyond above Undiscovered Country is Oof size infinity.
I tend to rank them in tiers, bad movies, watchable movies, and Great movies and as long as they're within the right tier, the order is down to personal preference, but this is my order. Personally, there is two movies that I love that most people rank lower than I do, but I can see where people have issues. Bad Movies: 13) Star Trek Nemesis 12) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 11) Star Trek Into Darkness 10) Star Trek: Insurrection Nemesis is at the bottom of the list because it was the final blow for the golden age of Trek movies, but it has it's good parts (Hardy is good but not great, and the battle is the best small fleet battle in the entire franchise). STV is obvious, it's just bad. Into Darkness is one of those movies that is subjectively bad for dozens of reasons but is objectively an OK movie, regardless, I can't watch it without hating on it. I LIKE INSURRECTION, I think it's watchable and it meshes well with the franchise, UNFORTUNATELY, it plays better as a two part episode than it does as a movie. Watchable Movies: 9) Star Trek 2009 8) Star Trek: The Motion Picture 7) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock 6) Star Trek: Generations 5) Star Trek Beyond Put these in any order you like, they are watchable and enjoyable. ST2009, is at the bottom of my this list because repeat viewings if begins to fall apart with repeated cliches in much the same way that Nemesis does, the difference is it's a more enjoyable movie. TMP may be boring but it's not bad. I tend to put Insurrection here, but I know that is the one thing people will truly take offense to for whatever reason. Great Movies: 4) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 3) Star Trek: First Contact 2) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 1) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Personally, I'd rather watch VI than II, but it's arguable as to which is a better movie. Also, go back and watch First Contact, The Undiscovered Country, and Generations, those three have held up to the ravages of visual expectations better than the rest of the franchise.
13: Insurrection 12: Nemesis 11: Final Frontier 10: The Motion Picture 9: Generations 8: Into Darkness (were they get good) 7: First Contact 6: Beyond 5: Star Trek 2009 4: Voyage Home 3: Search for Spock 2: Undiscovered Country 1: Wrath of Khan
So, Undiscovered Country is diminished in quality by “most of the movies that came after it” being better. And then you go on to put four out of the seven movies that came after it BELOW ST6. Either you have a wildly different definition of “most”, or your logic really doesn’t track.
#1, 2 & 3 were right on, but you lost it after that. #4 should be Undiscovered Country, #5 Search for Spock and #6 Beyond. After that, it doesn't matter.
I actually liked Insurrection; it's one of my favorite Trek films. However, my favorite film to date is the Voyage Home. There are also a few moments in Beyond that are very well-done. As a whole film, I'd probably rank it about the same, but those few moments would rank much higher if they were stand alone.
I love that this list didnt instantly put generations and nemesis at the bottom like so many other have, generations being above undiscovered country is flawed in my mind but I simply would have switched there positions, otherwise, this is the correct order
You forgot Galaxy quest… ;) I loved undiscovered country. I actually think it deserves 3rd place though. Wrath of Khan will be 1st for me, the Voyage Home is number 2, undiscovered country is number 3 and generations is number 4. Maybe I just like the old star trek better… which is weird because I grew up with generations. But I have always enjoyed the movies. I feel like watching wrath of Khan and then In search of Spock and then voyage home is a well spent afternoon. Lol With the exception of the recasting of kirstie alley, that a whole series feels like one story to me and is still one of my favorites to watch to this day. I personally like generations better than 1st contact, but I can see your point in that 1st contact was a bit more tidy and had a lot of fun action base. I've never seen nemesis and I don't really want to… so yeah.
Watch whenever on tv in order of preference: -First Contact -Undiscovered Country - Voyage Home - Khaaan! Still like and will usually watch if on TV in order of preference: -Generations - Star Trek (2009) Consider to be ok and might watch on TV if I was bored: -Search for Spock -Into Darkness Kinda bad and would have to be fairly desperate to watch: - Final Frontier - Nemesis Would never find an excuse to watch: - The Motion Picture - Insurrection
It's a serviceable list. I don't have the love of Khan that most have, but that being said the only thing I would change would be to switch 1 & 2, since to me, First Contact is the better of those two.
Agreed, First Contact can be watched repeatedly while Khan (although admittedly entertaining) follows the well-worn plot of Powerful Villain person ultimately vanquished by sentimental favorite/hero.
Before watching, jots down correct order. Watches and prepares to argue and judge. *later* Not bad, not bad but no way is Star Trek Beyond better than Star Trek reboot and definitely not better than Undiscovered Country. Dude... you trippin. "Remember there is no right order except THE WRATH OF KHAN MUST BE NUMBER ONE of course!!!
I was mildly surprised/pleased to see some love for Generations. I am not sure why it's gotten so much hate over the years. But I will say Nemesis is worse than Insurrection (which was more of a long TV episode than a movie). Nemesis was just clumsy and tired. I can't rank ST: Into Darkness because it's the only one I never bothered to watch and the description here reinforces that.
13. Star Trek In To Darkness 12. Star Trek (2009) 11. Star Trek Beyond 10. Star Trek The Motion Picture 9. Star Trek Insurrection 8. Star Trek Generations 7. Star Trek Nemesis 6. Star Trek First Contact 5. Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan 4. Star Trek 5 The Final Frontier 3. Star Trek 6 The Undiscovered Country 2. Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock 1. Star Trek 4 The Voyage Home
the Final Frontier is the bottom of the main timeline though,.... mind you, "what does God need with a Starship"" is one of the most quotable lines ever
@@nickyhf1861 That's The Search For Spock. The alien in the bar says it. I always chuckled when he said it, but didn't realise the song was actaully named after that quote! Looking at the date the song was recorded, it was only 1 month after the film's release, so might be true!
Generations as #4? Are you off your rocker?!?! I was willing to forgive you overrating Nemesis (despite the huge plot holes and that utterly unforgivable Troi mind rape sequence) but Generations is bland crap from a Paramount Studios who LITERALLY cared more about marking the date they could tear down the TNG sets than actually having a good script. Not to mention the utterly awful and embarrassing way they killed off Kirk, or how stupid that entire setup was. I'll just tell myself you were trolling for comments (like mine) because there's no way a reasonable person would consider Generations the 4th best Star Trek movie.
Wow. This is surprisingly close to my personal ranking. Which I totally didn't expect. You just need to swap number 1 with number 3 (No, WOK does NOT have to be at the top) and I'd also swap the last two spots but then, yeah, then you get my list.
MY middle of the list would be quite different, but your end line alone of "there is no right order, except wrath of khan must be number 1 of course" grabs a like button smash from me
ST VI had it all. Friendship, thriller, bid of comedy, emotion, dark and bright moments, revenge, shakespeare, politics, Kirk-fist-fight, McCoy-surgery-skill-action, Spock-logic-action, geez, even Sulu and Chekov had their moments.. TWOK was just dark, dark, dark, one-dimensional and bloodthirsty drama. Destruction, death, suicide..Don't get me wrong: I find it am excellent movie nevertheless. But I could watch the "undiscovered country" all day long. TWOK.. Not so much.
My List : 13) Insurrection 12) Nemesis 11) Into Darkness 10) The Motion Picture 9) The Search For Spock 8) Generation 7) Star Trek 6) The Voyage Home 5) The Final Frontier 4) Beyond 3) The Undiscovered Country 2) First Contact 1) The Wrath Of Khan Yeah it's TFF on my 5th place, people just misunderstood what this movie trying to deliver
First contact is probably my most favourite star trek movie because it carried more than just action and drama but fear as well as the Borg were a really scary villian, basically space robot zombies. It's the only star trek movie I've rewatched several times.
Personal Ranking: 1. Wrath of Khan 2. First Contact 3. Undiscovered Country 4. Voyage Home 5. Search For Spock 6. Reboot 7. Beyond 8. Motion Picture 9. Generations 10. Into Darkness 11. Insurrection 12. Nemesis 13. Final Frontier

I have to admit, I was scared towards the end that they were actually going to put First Contact above Khan. Thankfully they made the logical choice. ;)
Star Trek Beyond is the absolute worst Star Trek movie ever made, don't understand how you can put it anywhere other than near the bottom of the list. Especially, how can you put it above The Undiscovered Country, The Undiscovered Country was one of the best Star Trek movies.
Somebody picked the worst 2 and top 3, then threw the other 8 in a hat and laughed because they knew ST fans would go nuts. Seriously, nobody on earth has Generations that high....unless they are high.
Insurrection is one of my favourites. Not because it’s the best. I recognise it isn’t that great. For me it’s nostalgia. My dad taking me to my first Star Trek move.... watching it on vhs until the tape broke.... major guilty pleasure of mine.
Finally someone who was fair to Star Trek Nemesis as being alright, rather than terrible. ALSO HOLY CRAP TOM HARDY. I haven't seen Nemesis since a long time before Dark Knight Rises and Venom and whatever else makes me recognize him these days. Crazy.
80's baby here, back when movies had depth, substance, structure, musical score, innovation etc. Every age group's list is very different (purist vs the low attention / intellectual), so here's mine. For me, the debate doesn't even start until #4. 13 Insurrection 12 The Final Frontier 11 The Motion Picture 10 Generations 9 Beyond 8 Nemesis 7 Into Darkness 6 The Search for Spock 5 2009 (Kelvin) 4 The Voyage Home 3 First Contact 2 The Undiscovered Country 1 Wrath of Khan
Wrath of Khan is #1, I agree with you there. I was disappointed when First Contact put a personality behind the Borg. Big mistake, in my opinion. But Wrath isn't just a great ST film, but a great film period.
Agreed Wrath is great, but if you know TNG a personality was injected into the Borg with Hugh, causing a massive disruption of the Borg species. First contact develops this in an intriguing way, imho.
How I'd rank these films: 13. Insurrection 12. Final frontier 11. Generations 10. Original motion picture 9. Nemesis 8. Into darkness 7. Beyond 6. Search for spock 5. 2009 reboot 4. Voyage home 3. The undiscovered country 2. First Contact 1. Wrath of Khan
My ranking is as follows: 1. Star Trek: First Contact 2. Star Trek: Beyond 3. Star Trek (2009) 4. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 5. Star Trek: Into Darkness 6. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 7. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 8. Star Trek: Generations 9. Star Trek III: The Search For Spock 10. Star Trek: Nemesis 11. Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 12. Star Trek: Insurrection 13. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
1. The Wrath Of Khan A+ 2. First Contact A 3. The Voyage Home A 4. The Undiscovered Country A 5. The Motion Picture A- 6. The Search For Spock A- 7. Star Trek 2009 B+ 8. Beyond B- 9. Insurrection C+ 10. Into Darkness D+ 11. The Final Frontier F 12. Generations F
My personal favorites The Voyage Home The Search for Spock Undiscovered Country Yes, Voyage Home deserves far more credit than it gets. It certainly ticks the most "Trek" boxes on the list. And yet, because everyone puts Wrath of Khan on the pedestal instead,... we get revenge as a primary element of every single Star Trek film since Undiscovered Country. We needed more lighthearted adventure.
K1productions I also really like The Search for Spock which doesn’t get enough love. In the Voyage Home they were clearly all too old so the sentimentality and the ton of jokes and the very feel good whales subplot were perfect. I agree about them putting Khan up on that pedestal. It’s good but I have no particular emotional attachment to it
K1productions sure they came later but I saw those maybe only once maybe twice so I hardly remember ☮️😀 There are a ton of movies pairing way too old guys with way to young for them woman so we should not expect anything resembling reality
Insurrection wasn't the best by any means, not sure it deserved that low of a rank. Then again I may just be being nostalgic and also I thought F Murray Abraham made a good villain. To each his own, though
I agree, I've always thought Insurrection is the most underrated of the Trek films. No, it's not a *great* movie, but it's one of the rare Trek films that feels like it really captures the humanistic spirit of the show.
1. Wrath of Khan 2. Undiscovered Country 3. The Voyage Home 4. First Contact 5. Beyond 6. Search for Spock 7. Generations 8. Star Trek (2009) 9. The Motion Picture 10. Insurrection 11. Into Darkness 12. Nemesis 13. The Final Frontier
I actually like into darkness unlike 90% of ST fans, I thought the acting was great, especially Cucumberpatch. I get it might not align with your ST hierarchy but as a stand-alone it is great.
@@tomleonard830 I agree. I it was the weakest of the reboots because it relied so heavily on a plot twist that everybody had already guessed and then they tried to hide it and it just didn't work. I like Cumberbatch, I think hes a great villain, I just don't think they should have made him Khan. Honestly the whole thing works a lot better if hes not Khan. And if you don't take the rest of star trek continuity into account, you're right it is a great movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it, then I realized the continuity issues and it kind of killed it for me. My biggest problem is the in movie in consistencies. It took them how long to get to the edge of Klingon space? And then maybe all of 5 minutes to get back to Earth? There are issues there.
My list: 13) Nemesis 12) ST V 11) Generations 10) Insurrection 9) Into Darkness 8) TMP 7) ST III 6) ST IV 5) ST 2009 4) Beyond 3) ST VI 2) First Contact 1) ST II
I only spotted your comment after saying the same. Also, Meyer directed Undiscovered Country which rank as my 2 fave ST movies followed by First Contact and then surprisingly ST Beyond.
@@dustyV-y6z not sure I understand why it's so hated. yes Picard and Data stole the show, but the story worked. Plus, I'm biased toward anything Romulan focused.
Biggest problem with Motion Picture was that it was a Special Effects driven story. What makes Trek good is Character driven stories and Motion Picture failed to do this.
Nickolas Meyer directed The Wrath of Khan. Harve Bennet was producer. Meyer had not done much directing when he got the job, yet he directed the best 3 movies.
There is some really good stuff in Nemesis, the badass Scimitar, the cool looking new Valdore Romulan Warbirds and the Enterprise E being seriously badass against the more powerful Scimitar
Ian Samuels That’s a good point, the battle had a sense of realism in how the Enterprise put up a fight against the Scimitar, unlike JJ Trek that just has outrageously powerful vessels beating the shit out of the Enterprise. You also get to see the crew working together seamlessly and showing their expertise, which is quite rewarding after a decade of seeing them together. The plot of Nemesis is terribly contrived, but that battle is the best that Trek currently has to offer.
Decent list, with some interesting placements. Here's how I'd rate them. 1: Wrath of Khan 2: The Voyage Home 3: The Undiscovered Country 4: First Contact 5: Beyond 6: The Motion Picture 7: Generations 8: Search for Spock 9: Nemesis 10: Star Trek 09 11: The Final Frontier 12: Into Darkness 13: Insurrection
VI is my favourite for sure but IV is hilarious as well as being the only one I saw in theatres. I love the Abrams trilogy and I’m saddened that there will be no more. I could and have watched all 13 films over and over as well as the shows... I grew up with ST and it was time well spent with my grandfather. I only wish he lived long enough to see at least the first Abrams film
My list 1 wrath of Khan 2 search for spock 3 first contact 4 the voyage home 5 undiscovered country 6 motion picture 7 one of the new ones lol 8 ghostbusters 9 barb wire 10 the news
Uh, because it was. It was at the very least the best "Trek" of all the reboots. It held far more firm to the underlying Trek elements than either 2009 or Into Darkness, and told a relevant socio-political message at the same time, without it being too over the top. And I really dug the references to Enterprise era and the MACO's, and even gave a simple explanation to what happened to them.
@@teslagrooms1165 If not liking it is your opinion, that is fine. But when you start with "how can any sane person say..." then you stray into attempted objective (rather than subjective) statements and unfair accusations of intelligence. This is far from just simple opinion. Its like the old "you are not a true fan if you like this" statements that are not only unfair but objectively false. No Trekkie has any right to tell others that they are any less intelligent or sane than you.
@@k1productions87 Well I wouldn't consider myself a Trekkie since I've only seen the reboots so you're opinion probably matters more then mine. My message wasn't meant to be taken literally
Maybe it's due to my age when I saw Star Trek VI but I'd rank it as a quantum finish with Wrath of Khan. (Though I think Khan is slightly better.) It's got high stakes, intrigue, humour and a really relevant story. I certainly like it better than any of the TNG films and Star Trek beyond.
I can't put it above First Contact. But I recognize that because I had more investment in the Borg before the movie, and I had no idea who Khan was when I watched Wrath of Khan at 6. So that's what I blame that on. But, even still I would put Khan 2nd for sure.
The things the original Kirk and Picard movies have in common: The first movies’ uniforms are different from the rest of the movies. The second movies are the best. Two consecutive movies are directed by the first officer actor including the third.
I think Star Trek The Motion Picture is underrated. It's the only Star Trek movie that is true science fiction. Unfortunately for the movie, Star Wars had come out, and people weren't interested in a long slow drawn out science fiction space movie. They wanted more space fantasy/western. The Motion Pictiure has an amazing original concept for the time the movie came out, which was right on the heels of the Voyager space probes being launched, and it deserves to be treated better. I think it should be compared to 2001 A Space Odyssey in terms of story, not it's production value. Had The First Star Trek movie had come out in the 60s and it looked like it did when it actually came out, then it's production value would be on par with 2001. Again though, Star Wars had come out and changed the effects world forever. The original movies story was so good Star Trek 4 is basically a rewrite of it, with time travel, whales and one-liners. A quick summary of both movies. A giant space ship shows up in Earth territory, and is going to destroy the planet unless it gets a signal from a lost source, and it's up to the crew of The Enterprise to find it. The Motion Picture needed command codes from NASA. Voyage Home need whale songs. At least VYGR had being a massive A.I. that didn't really understand it's own origins, or what life was, or why life was precious, to justify it's actions. The aliens in Star Trek 4 were gonna wipe out a species they knew was sentient, because they couldn't hear they favorite music any more. If it weren't for Final Frontier, Voyage Home would be the dumbest Star Trek. That being said, 4 is a good movie, in it's own way. They took one of the dumbest ideas, and wrote a well polished script, with a bevy of fantastic and hilarious one-liners from the whole cast. The acting is solid, for Star Trek. Even Shatner delivered and he may be the worst actor to star in the entire franchise. (Jennifer Lien who played Kes in Voyager. A character so bad they killed her twice.) The most amazing thing about 4 though is Leonard Nimoy's directing. After the debacle that was Nimoy's previous turn as director, with the travesty that is The Search for Spock, a great concept and story ruined, by horrendous acting and just down right awful directing. I find the fact that they Nimoy direct a second movie, mind boggling. Some how though, he not only pulled it off, he managed to lead 4, into of the most loved and endearing movies of the franchise.
Generations is not only too high on this list, but should never be higher than Undiscovered Country. My top three are: Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, and First Contact. (2009 honorable mention).

Yeah, putting Generations above Undiscovered Country is pretty wack.

Undiscovered Country is my favorite with the possible exception of Wrath of Khan and followed closely by The Journey Home
Generations was so disappointing
WHAT???
ST Generations better than ST The Undiscovered Country???
Right?...?????
This whole list is a mess, The Motion Picture being lower than Into Darkness, what a joke
Any list who doesn't put the JJ movies at the bottom is wrong.

No way First contact (with those convenient stupid Borgs) is better Star Trek II.

Wrath of Khan was definitely the most memorable one
KHAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
I'm not sure why ST 3 isn't more liked. It has Christopher Lloyd!
I! HAVE HAD! ENOUGH OF! YOUUUU!
I really liked this movie
Christopher Lloyd was the very first Klingon I ever saw, and he scared the shit out of me! Or at least the Bird of Prey did with the way it was introduced.
I completely disagree with his placement and description of Into Darkness...
That twist on the spok/kirk warp chamber bit was just amazing.

"Transparent aluminum?"
First Contact WAS amazing!!! Love that film!
I’m glad you bumped up IV, because I think a lot of people wrote that one off, because it’s the “fun one”
However, this list needs some major addressing.
Bad Movies:
13) Star Trek Nemesis
12) Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
11) Star Trek Into Darkness
10) Star Trek: Insurrection
Nemesis is at the bottom of the list because it was the final blow for the golden age of Trek movies, but it has it's good parts (Hardy is good but not great, and the battle is the best small fleet battle in the entire franchise).
Watchable Movies:
9) Star Trek 2009
8) Star Trek: The Motion Picture
7) Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
6) Star Trek: Generations
5) Star Trek Beyond
Put these in any order you like, they are watchable and enjoyable.
Great Movies:
4) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
3) Star Trek: First Contact
2) Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
1) Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Personally, I'd rather watch VI than II, but it's arguable as to which is a better movie. Also, go back and watch First Contact, The Undiscovered Country, and Generations, those three have held up to the ravages of visual expectations better than the rest of the franchise.
Putting Beyond and Generations above VI is absurd. And though I love IV, it's also not better than VI.
13: Insurrection
12: Nemesis
11: Final Frontier
10: The Motion Picture
9: Generations
8: Into Darkness (were they get good)
7: First Contact
6: Beyond
5: Star Trek 2009
4: Voyage Home
3: Search for Spock
2: Undiscovered Country
1: Wrath of Khan
Personally, any list that doesn't put into darkness at the bottom is wrong
ikr. Compared to "Into Darkness," Star Trek V looks like a masterpiece.
I would switch Generations and Undiscovered Country but otherwise i agree
I actually liked Insurrection; it's one of my favorite Trek films. However, my favorite film to date is the Voyage Home. There are also a few moments in Beyond that are very well-done. As a whole film, I'd probably rank it about the same, but those few moments would rank much higher if they were stand alone.
Harve Bennet did not direct Wrath of Khan.
I love that this list didnt instantly put generations and nemesis at the bottom like so many other have, generations being above undiscovered country is flawed in my mind but I simply would have switched there positions, otherwise, this is the correct order
You forgot Galaxy quest… ;)
I loved undiscovered country. I actually think it deserves 3rd place though.
Watch whenever on tv in order of preference:
-First Contact
-Undiscovered Country
- Voyage Home
- Khaaan!
Still like and will usually watch if on TV in order of preference:
-Generations
- Star Trek (2009)
Consider to be ok and might watch on TV if I was bored:
-Search for Spock
-Into Darkness
Kinda bad and would have to be fairly desperate to watch:
- Final Frontier
- Nemesis
Would never find an excuse to watch:
- The Motion Picture
- Insurrection
The only one I'd change and put in the top 4 is the undiscovered country, it is more personal opinion but one of my favourites
It's a serviceable list. I don't have the love of Khan that most have, but that being said the only thing I would change would be to switch 1 & 2, since to me, First Contact is the better of those two.
Yup, same for me. Wrath of Khan, for me, was top tier B Grade. Too campy, but really enjoyable anyway

Welcome aboard Brian!

Star Trek Beyond had the best and most realistic "Travelling at Warp" effect ever.

Star Trek Beyond is the absolute worst Star Trek movie ever made, don't understand how you can put it anywhere other than near the bottom of the list. Especially, how can you put it above The Undiscovered Country, The Undiscovered Country was one of the best Star Trek movies.
Star Trek 6,is one of My many Favorite Films

Yes, Voyage Home deserves far more credit than it gets.
It’s good but I have no particular emotional attachment to it
@@batgurrl you want clearly too old, look no further than Final Frontier. At least in Undiscovered Country they start acting their age LOL

I agree, I've always thought Insurrection is the most underrated of the Trek films. No, it's not a *great* movie, but it's one of the rare Trek films that feels like it really captures the humanistic spirit of the show.

I actually like into darkness unlike 90% of ST fans, I thought the acting was great, especially Cucumberpatch. I get it might not align with your ST hierarchy but as a stand-alone it is great.
I liked the story, especially switching the kirk and spock roles at the end. But for me it was still the weakest of the reboot movies.

Undiscovered Country WAY too high. The effects, the story, the action, the mystery... was all there. Movie was fantastic.
From the first six films, the even numbers are great!
If AbramsTrek insists on being on this list, they should be listed first.

I know that 09 isn't quite true-Trek, but goddang I love that film. Marathoning all of the movies now in the wake of Picard.
How can any sane person say that Star Trek Beyond is the best of the reboots? I know it's his opinion, but still...
@@k1productions87 That's fine. You can have your opinion and I'll stick with mine
Fairly close to how I'd have ranked them. Nicely done.
The things the original Kirk and Picard movies have in common:
The first movies’ uniforms are different from the rest of the movies.
A giant
space ship shows up in Earth territory, and is going to destroy the planet unless it gets a signal from a lost source, and it's up to the crew of The Enterprise to find it.
First contact was amazing. Nemesis and insurrection were such a letdown. Can't argue with the top spot
Bah! They all suck!
