I had a phobia of them when I was young. Now they are one of my biggest hobbies. That's how many of us siren enthusiasts (yes, there is such a thing) got started.
Same here. I used to here these sirens in war films sounding attack and as a kid I was scared but now I love these mournfull beasts as to me thay are our friend but the stupid government axed all the flood sirens in Norfolk and Essex and north Hampton. Douse Boris Johnson realize that not all old people have smart phones who relied on those sirens. Will he do the same in Tod and other places and Broadmoor let's not forget they have been axed in favor of one single electronic siren witch I like but it will never beet the sound of 13 sirens with shutters sounding hi lo EVER. I felt the same way when I was growing up and I love them too, but if I was to hear one go off unexpectedly I think I'd piss my pants! Every time I've visited the UK I'd wait for one to sound.
Let's consider what this could mean... 1. The Germans are bombing us 2. The Russians are nuking us 3. A psycho finally escaped 4. Our house is getting swept away
sounds like a 10/12 port chopper with a dual shaft universal motor, following sirens that could be: carter, castle's casting, not likely a CLM. most likely a scatter of secomaks/klaxons gp6 sirens
I'm pretty sure they are Carter sirens, they are situated in the 3 main Calder valley towns, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge (this one) and Todmorden. During high water levels the whole valley whales!
Whilst the flooding is not good, on the flip side, listening to those moaning minnies all running together sounded pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing the video, and hope you wasn't badly affected by the swelling river ;-)
Hi. I would say sirens sounding on both 50 and 60 hz as there is a high pitch dual tone siren in Plymouth UK that has 60 hz but all the other sirens on that royal naval base are 50 Hertz so I love them both and are as creepy as heck but now I love the creepyness of these sirens in the distance or a couple of yards away with ear defenders on😊
@@emedee5961they are not the same sirens they are x cold war secomak gp8 sirens plus 2 klaxons. They are a GP12 and a GP10 and castle castings never made sirens in WW2. It was GENTS and CARTER
yeah i would say your right about the panic part and the creepy part too. man when i first clicked on this vid my neck hairs stood up lol! i wasnt even there and i got scared lol
The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel Uhh I'd probably say Castle castings only reason is because the Klaxons have a different howl to Castle Castings. The Gents'/Carter sound similar to the GP8. The sirens in this video sound a lot like Castle Castings.
These are a mix of castle castings, klaxons and secomaks. The one on top of the school is definately a secomak though, as you can see in this photo: twitter.com/EnvAgencyYNE/status/905346112973877249/photo/1
+mulattokid johnson Probabaly not actually. Sirens like this are still in production to this day and it is very likely that these sirens are actually not that old.
Great siren recording. These sound to be Carter sirens are they? Nothing like a 10/12 port dual toned siren to tell you the shit is hitting the fan LOL! I hope your home had no adverse effects from this flood. DAS.
@Jack P no I didn't as I know klaxon have the GP12 the GP10 and the CS8 sirens but they stopped making the GP8 a few years back as there was a report on the GP8 sirens week sales so they needed a better version so thats why the klaxon GP12 siren took over
im watching this video as in real time, as im typing this, an FS STH-10A is going on 3 minutes of attack about half a mile away. it penetrates the windows of my house. I made multiple videos on the siren.
British style sirens aren't that loud. They're puny compared to most American sirens cause the placement of sirens is very different. I prefer Europe's style of placing many small sirens all over the place while in North America you tend to see one huge siren many miles from another huge siren.
British sirens can be louder then you think. Some british sirens can be 150 DB as the sound can travel for miles and I mean MILES. Yes they are smaller then the sirens in america but I tell you now that I heard one of these sirens up close and they are DARN LOUD
They are WWII sirens, hauntingly beautiful sound, gets you in the pit of your stomach, especially when the river looks like a writhing serpent about to devour you.
@@SazzleCam not ww2 these are cold war era castle castings sirens. Castle castings never existed then as it was carter who built ww2 sirens. Is the water so post to be that high???? Or, the Germans are going to bomb is!!!!! Sounds exaqualy like ww2. Soooo scary sound, thunder bolt sirens have a not as scary sound as this.
because the dual tone thunderbolts are supercharged they have a very distorted sound and I love that buzzy roar plus when they are sounding in the distance it makes them more scary because of the sound when they rotate and the attack tone douse it for me as well as the steady tone as I love how thunderbolt sirens can be set at different pitches and also the hi lo wail of the thunderbolt 1003 echoing all around. another grate siren is the mighty ACA P50 as it also has that unnerving distorted buzz because of how loud it is and the supercharged ASC hurricane

OMG, this sounds totally like the Germans are coming to bomb us. It sounds sooo scary when they turn them of..
Probably not #3 as Broadmoor's sirens are different to this.

also, ruined underwear
and now north korea has launched a nuke
the scariest part is what their original purpose was

It's like a Tornado siren, floods are effecting Lancashire and Cumbria even now
