I was the kid with the cool dad. The reaction we got back then was crazy. It seem like everybody back then love the Mustang. Fun times.

I’ve only just found this now but what a fantastic story! AND what wonderful custodians of such an iconic car in history! I’m in Australia & my first memory of any Mustang on our roads was late 60’s or very early 70’s! I fell in love there & then! Now in my mid 50’s I have a 1968 GT390 fastback in Acapulco blue. It’s still LHD & I love driving it in good weather of course. It’s never been restored & has a beautiful 50 year old patina. Again, a lovely video👍🏻😎

There is just something magical about the mustang. As they walked down the street, I saw the limousine inching its way looking at addresses. When it came to a stop in front of the house, the two began a new rant. Pointing and carrying on. I was more than uncomfortable. But I went across the street to check, and sure enough my dad hadn’t locked it. I punched both locks down, asked the chauffeur to wait a minute as I went around the house locking all the doors. The next morning my folks woke me asking where I had parked the Mustang. My dad had only himself to blame, I was pissed my graduation present had been stolen. Instead, my dad bought me the ugliest 1976 blue, LTD coupe. I really hated that car.
That is the most amazing story I have heard, the old mustangs are better than what's out now, back in those days quality control was a thing and the Ford motor company took pride in what they built, today its embarrassing what Ford has done, they have a new mustang that's all electric and it it's not a mustang it's an electric SUV.
This is most definitely not the first mustang sold, but this is a cute story and I’m so glad the owners got it restored. Surprised Hagerty doesn’t know this.
Everybody of a certain age has a mustang story. Basically, it was just a rebodied Ford Falcon, just looked much cooler. What I'm glad to see is that they restored it to original, no hot rodding, no nothing it didn't have originally, tho it is often a good idea to upgrade the brakes to disc brakes.
Wrong, uses Falcon parts but nothing else is the same as the cabin and engine is further back. As for hotrodded? It has the wrong airfilter for that model so probably a 4 bbl etc.
@@ldnwholesale8552 um say what? It uses falcon parts... duh that's what I said. A wrong air filter makes you think it had a 4 bbl? That's mighty presumptuous of you. It probably has whatever period filter they could lay their hands on, doesn't mean crap about what carb it may or may not have had at one time or another. At any rate it's not sporting headers and a big carb and all that typical crap now. You must be a cop, making such huge leaps with your assumptions with no evidence to back it up that's how cops work. Make an assumption and make you prove your innocence.
I can't believe how ruined it became. It is stunning. You two look so cool tooling around with the top down. I had a 69 meadowlark yellow one with black convertible top. Where is it today?
First Mustang sold AND it's a one owner car. That's just cool. Glad they kept it and restored it.

I just ran across an article about this car. I love it soo much, and I hope they are doing well.🥰🥰
My all-time favorite car is the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang. 👍 I loved the story and was wonderful; she still has the car.
That is the most amazing story I have heard, the old mustangs are better than what's out now, back in those days quality control was a thing and the Ford motor company took pride in what they built, today its embarrassing what Ford has done, they have a new mustang that's all electric and it it's not a mustang it's an electric SUV.
Love that beautiful mustang
This is most definitely not the first mustang sold, but this is a cute story and I’m so glad the owners got it restored. Surprised Hagerty doesn’t know this.
What a beautiful Stang.
Beautiful car and it makes me want one.
Totally ran that stop sign at 2:46
Beautiful car , great story. Thanks
damn love mustangs. i have had 4 over the years. my favorite was my 2001 gt.
I thought Brian Williams bought the 1st one.
It was out of the first run for sure. The first run of Mustangs off the production line were all convertibles.
He helped build it.
@@fposmith That was a joke. William's got caught with big lies.
Great video!!
Mom and dad had the first Ford mustang car when I was a little boy. DETROIT!!!!!
Hagerty, you have good stories. Smiles to yer team... Oh, and good comenters too... :)
Wow! that is incredible
amazing... its so well maintained as well!!
well after he restored it I guess...
I bought the first mustang but , January , 1964, never took ownership. Uncle Sam sent me to Nam. My Mustang was repossessed while I was away.
Awesome year 1964and a half. My mother's birthday tooo#!!!!
I can't believe how ruined it became. It is stunning. You two look so cool tooling around with the top down. I had a 69 meadowlark yellow one with black convertible top. Where is it today?
Driving a convertible everyday to work through Illinois winters couldn’t be the most practical thing to do. No wonder it got beat to hell
Awesome story.
2:47 Cuz who needs stop signs right? lol
Ha! 5:40, how cool is that, the clock still works!
It will still work, even if the owners are dead......
The owners are still with us.
Well... it'd be lame to RESTORE a car and not repair/refurbish the freaking clock!
That little 260 sounds pretty stout.
Haha the dealer sold it early
same thing with my 66 mustang 289, police pull me over just to look at it lol
Me too, 69. Or was it all of my girlfriends they were looking at
Awesome camera work st the end of the video
Only dream to own this rare beauty
My grandad has a mustang in a barn, I'm not sure what year it is, and I don't think he has driven it since the 80s. I'll ask him next time I see him.
2:47 Blew the stop sign.
