  • ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL REGIONS IN GERMANY: The Swabian Alb is Joerg's homeland// We just returned from our visit to Germany. It was a short week filled with happiness and laughter because we were over the moon to see our families again. We tried to film as much as possible but sadly our time there was too short and we would have loved to show you more. We still hope you like the video. Today we share Joerg's homeland with you, the beautiful Swabian Alb. We also visited one of the most beautiful castles in Germany. If you ever visit the area, make sure to visit Castle Hohenzollern, we can highly recommend it. Kirsten & Joerg x

    My grandparents left Prussia when the Kaiser was in control. They came to the US we have no records of our family that was left behind. My grandfather sent clothes and money during WW2 however they never reached our family and were stolen by the Nazis. All records were saved by the church and that was later burned down. I so love seeing Germany through your eyes!

    Loved seeing the backside of the castle sitting high up on the hill. It is so surprising how people knew how to find the best places to build. It is as though they had such ability to know how they would stand out the best, and just be seen as the loveliest of all else around them?

He loves that type of topography and scenery , just gorgeous! Although we do have the Pinelands here in New Jersey, US. He photographs quite a bit in our local forests but he has gone West to our HUGE National Parks for hiking and photographing bears and bison etc and of course for the amazing landscapes. Being nosey is kind of a thing especially with older people in the Swabian lands. They want to know what everybody is doing. If you have an old Swabian woman living on your street, she'll probably know you better than you know yourself

This has brought back wonderful memories of our trip to England and Germany three years ago. We stayed in Oxford for a week, then took a plane to Stuttgart and rented a car. We drove to the small village of Boll, where we had a room in a hotel for a couple nights so we could visit the castle Hohenzollern. When we got there everything was closed and no one was there. We could see the Castle on the hill from the parking lot, so we went up and spent the afternoon at the castle. So this was the very first thing we saw in Germany. Joerg, you grew up in a beautiful place. Kirsten the shuttle bus was great...we never would have made the walk up that hill.

    • @KirstenJoerg

    Thank you so kindly for taking us on your wonderful journey home. Germany has such lovely things and it's wonderful to see the castle, though how odd that you cannot film inside it or with a drone?
    The out buildings of wood so remind me of New England. Though my area is obviously Heavily English, as we don't have as much stone (and tile roofs are not really seen here in Massachuessets) the barn/outbuildings feel very much like Old New England barns.
    Whilst we are stuck at home, thank you for taking us out into the world! I'm a bit spoiled in my own ocean view, one of the reasons I've started sharing it on youtube, as I felt I needed to make a bit of an escape for anyone stuck at home. In a way, it's how we all can do our part to boost one another's spirits during this odd times, eh?
    Thank you again for sharing it with us and Heavens I'd love either of those cakes. At first I thought the 'cheesecake' was a Tiramisu.

    • @KirstenJoerg
      @KirstenJoerg  4 роки тому

      Thank you! Yes but that's the same here in the UK, filming with a drone (it also depends on air travel etc.) or inside of buildings isn't always allowed. Hohenzollern is in private hands, hence we couldn't film there, it's different if it was owned by the state.

    Thank you for your interesting and very different approach to video making. I find it difficult to believe that you are German, your English is impeccable, better than many English people and has no trace of an accent.
