Would it be that hard for the LEO to just say "you're right, sir. I'm mistaken you don't have to provide me with your name" and leave it like that? Of course not, cops have this mental state that they're never wrong and will throw out lie upon lie to get law abiding citizens to give up their rights.
"It depends on how long you stick around?!" Where do officers come up with this stuff?! If I didn't see and hear it, I wouldn't believe it, yet here it is, on video. It never ceases to amaze me what comes out of their mouths.
The issue that bothers me about the police is that they are sworn to uphold the law and follow the law, but, time and time again, bend and possibly break the laws they are sworn to uphold when it works out to their advantage, or to obtain information not by legal or moral means. This is what is truly appalling. To bend or break laws because they ARE the law.

It was also pretty funny when he said "hold tight" and walked away refusing to answer what I presume was your relevant question, "Am I being detained, or am I free to go?" I've heard that gibberish about "inserting yourself into this situation" before, and it fails so often you'd think LEO's would get the message. And, just because I'm a cranky old guy, when the hell did the detectives become "his"? "When my detectives get here....." Sort of like confusing ownership with something else. And except for that guy at the Buffalo New York airport, I've never seen a video of a bald headed cop acting like anything but an idiot. Something in the water maybe?

You are required to show ID for a crime. No crime was committed so no ID. So what does the officer do makes up a crime. To get around the stop and ID law.
Hiible v. Sixth Judicial District of Nevada (2004) requires a lawful detention upon reasonable, articulable suspicion the one to be identified has committed, or about to commit a crime (see Terry v.
