He needs a couple more wins at lightweight atleast. He won the belt from oliveria and he’s only defended it twice against a featherweight. He needs to fight gaethje and someone like Dariush, Poirier or Gamrot. You can’t be the greatest of your weight division when you’ve only defended twice to the same man who is a whole weight class below you. After two or three defences against proper lightweights then give him that chance at the welterweight belt.
Islam is a class act, the respect he showed Alex after the fight shows it. I'm a fan of both fighters so it's bittersweet either way for me. Hope Alex doesn't rush a return fight, He should take some time.

This guy is like a super enhanced version of khabib, strong as an ox wrestling, jui jitsu, submissions, grappling, leg kicks, stand-up, defence. Possibly the best well rounded fighter we have seen. Charles is similar in terms of being well rounded but also takes damage, it’s like Islams defence is so elite he barely takes damage on fights, only the first fight with cook have I seen him take that sort of damage. Props to volk for being who he is as well and showing up on 10 days notice

I think he’s a more well rounded Khabib, Khabib seems to have a bit better wrestling but Islam can keep the fight standing and still be very dangerous. He’s scarily good at everything.
