I never understood the hate for Islam, his humility is through and roof after the knockout he didn’t run around like a mad man or jump off the cage he quieted everyone down and the first word out of his mouth in the interview was “alhamdulillah”.

I don't think he really had doubters...just many people (including myself) that thought his fight vs Volk was very close. He definitely made a statement with the 1st round KO. Wasn't 100% Volk, but still a worthy title defense.

With Khabib as the godfather of Dagestani MMA, maybe the Godfather of Muslim MMA, there's an entire generation of hungry Greco-Roman wrestlers, Sambo practitioners and Judokas who'll dominate the sport for at least a couple of decades. Eagle FC rules the roost in Eastern European MMA rn and they'll be the standard in that region for a long time.

You clearly have no idea about Dagestan, and whole Caucasus region. The talent pool in Caucasus have been incredible foe decades, dominating most Olympic combat sports. Abdul Nurmagomedov is just a very small part of much larger combat culture.
E.g. In Olympic wrestling it has been pretty much North Iran, Dagestan, Chechnya, Ossetia, or one of the small Caucasus nations picking up gold every year since at least 1980s (excluding rise if U.S wrestlers since post Soviet era).

Being Muslim doesn't mean you know Arabic. As a Muslim you have to know surah al-Fātiha from the Quran to be able to perform the obligatory 5 prayers a day and few praisings and supplications within the prayer, that's it. And people maybe know few words here and there, due to the fact that some Arabic words have been integrated into their language. Even in non Muslim countries it's the case, like in Serbian, we have many Arabized words, which the Ottomans brought to us, or even in English, like the words _Sheriff, Sirup_ or _Zero_

If anything Makhachev should be #1 PFP now, because he is more active and beat actual RANKED PFP fighters and is MORE active and beat them in their OWN game instead of beating them with their weaknesses like Jones did. Makhachev submitted the best submission artist in UFC and knocked out the best PFP striker, he's beating these all-time greats in their own game lmao Jones just beat Gane with wrestling when Jones knew Gane couldn't wrestle
Islam deserves it. While Volk didn't have a full camp, that doesn't mean he got any worse as a fighter. He just got hit with an absolutely brutal head kick that would've still knocked him out in a full camp fight.
volk having a full camp don't mean shite, he would've shown that he did not have a full camp In the later rounds if it made it to that point where he gets tired, but Islam finish him first round with an intentional head kick, camp or not, volk loses any second of the year.
Full camp would have 0 influence unless the fight went long, as it was already stated above.
Basically both fighters took the fight on short notice because Islam was preparing for oliveira not volk. He basically had to come up with something to deal with volk in 11 days

If this fight went beyond 3 rounds, Volkanovski, who had 12 days' notice, might be affected. Going beyond 3 rounds can be tough without a full camp.
However, the fight got finshed with a head kick knockout in the first round, and that kick was intentional, not accidental. So, there IS NO EXCUSE of short notice. This is a solid victory for Islam Makhachev. - Joe Rogan.
