Everyone carrys a pearl of wisdom in them.
To sit and speak with them, you may actually be able to add their pearl to your own collection, and be a little better well off.
But sometimes, you come across a person with a treasure chest full of pearls.
To sit and share with that one, you can walk away with a world of wealth.
For you Cody, I hope you are well sir!

At 17 I was homeless, over a decade ago & it still haunts me.. The loneliness, felling destitute, depression, hopelessness, isn't nice when you've no one to talk to - that don't want something from you, to rob you or beat you up while your asleep.. You shouldn't make light of a situation you evidently don't comprehend.
How long do you think you'd keep your guitar? Go sleep outside on winters night and tell me you'd keep your guitar over a blanket or food.
not everyone is Sea Sick Steve.

I hear you. I am an American, and I almost became homeless overseas in a foreign country of Scotland. I was getting very close to being destitute in a foreign country, and with very little funds to get back home to America where my money and home was. Nobody helped me so I had to street perform to raise enough funds to get back to the airport. Its no joke, and trust me I was scared I would never go home again.

Oh man now I understand how some people are homeless with choice and how some people are homeless WITHOUT choice depending on how their situation is or how it unfolds. Damn.....This is a good story. It unfolds a new leaf on how I see some homeless people. God Bless you all out there. : )

I homeless. All my adult skills are insufficient to squire a house. job and health care.
I live with my chidren. but without my son and daughter, I have nothing.
I am 59 and there is no place to start over.. When you lose employment, you lose identity. I'm not into the government fixing everything; but, how many citizens can become destitute before you lose the country?

Nice. Although I will disagree on the spring water comment. Most of the purest water in the world is sourced from springs. The water that is 'treated' is often worse for you than contaminated spring water. Just because it doesn't make you noticeably sick doesn't mean its good for you. Depending on where the person is in the world they could easily live off the land, not everywhere in the world is a sprawling metropolis. 'Rich and bountiful' would be defined differently depending on the person.

It has been said, When people go hungry, the governments taxes are too high.
When people become rebellious, the government has become too intrusive.
When people begin to view death lightly, wealthy people have too much
    which causes others to starve.
Only those who do not cling to their life can save it.
Knowing you don't know is wholeness.
Thinking you know is a disease.
Only by recognizing that you have an illness
can you move to seek a cure. Cleverness must learn once more to step down.

Where can I check your claim that "they start the day by getting drunk."? Presumably you mean all of them?
I think we should look after those who cannot do it themselves regardless of whether it is because bad luck, bad health, social injustice or what ever. I further believe it would be beneficial to society if we could get these people back to work thus creating structure to their lives, getting them off the streets and making them into productive members of society.

Regardless, the problem seems to be a little more complex than what i can try to fix; i cant imagine what it would be like to live without sufficient money to eat and sleep, let alone fuck all which is what this poor soul was given. Being native is tough, real tough.

@ndyt being irresponsible sometimes has nothing to do with living paycheck to paycheck. i'll admit there are irresponsible people squandering money and are then forced to live paycheck to paycheck. but you can't judge the people as a whole for being irresponsible. for some this is inevitable as they don't have the job security to live a comfortable lifestyle. i agree with you about attacking the problem at the source. but what about the meantime, they still need help do they not?

What a waste if could 3% of the money spending on weapons every single human bean on this earth could have is own decent house and 2 free meals per day. When we all are going to realize that in order to find who we really are we must first learn to trust in each other. This idea that a human bean is sinful and have to be controlled with guns, laws, and that everything have to be recorded, policed is madness. People remember who you really are! I consider the other stuff and my self like entertaining. The Universe we live in is a fantastic illusion where good people define bad people, black defines white, light defines darkness. Is far from me the idea to change all negative in to a positive for 2 reasons. the first reason is because I playing this game to be God would be foolish and the second reason is that is obvious that the only purpose of this life is to be alive. Funny how cleverness is creating so many challenges.

@HConstantine, if we give them free homes and alcohol then we would have to give it to EVERYONE! I wouldn't want to work if I could have it all that for free. They already get food stamps, medical care, education, extra. I think that's enough. Free homes and alcohol is too much. And no, Jesus would want me to sell EVERYTHING I own and be homeless.
    Matt 19:17-21 “sell your stuff”

This is why abortion should be legal. Not because this man is any less of a person compared to me, or anyone else. People say that everyone deserves a chance at life, I agree 100% with that ideal, but this man was NOT given a chance at life. He was fucked by a family that did not want to carry the burden of parenthood. He was denied life the moment he was conceived.

@blazedstranger, 1) living paycheck to paycheck is irresponsible. 2) very few homeless people are not addicted to a substance or mentally challenged. I never said they shouldn't have or sympathy. I just think that you have to attack the problem of homeless people from the perspective that they are addicts and will need that sort of treatment. Just giving them money or some other handout wont help them in the long run.

A house can burn down, leaving you homeless. One can lose a job that was very scarce in the first place thereby leaving them without cash, then homeless. No one vows to suffer, its simply misfortune. And if you watched the video you would have heard the man say he was basically neglected by his family, so if anything they caused him pain.
