Be the cowboy is a synth pop album that is SO GOOD, most of her famous song came from that era (Nobody, Me and my husband, Washing machine heart) I would love to see you react to it honestly 😭
Puberty 2 (my personal favorite) it’s an album full of beats and some rock songs I would say(? And it’s actually a perfect album honestly
Bury me at makeout creek it’s an album were the main genre is Alt rock and folk, it’s ONE of my faves too BAJSJS, it has some of my favorite songs from her like Townie, Francis Forever and First love/Late spring and the synthesizer in that album is for me the best part
Retired from sad, new career in business is her second album and it’s very much orchestra type, it’s more slow and honestly it’s just as perfect as the other ones
And Lush (her first album) is THE ONLY ONE I haven’t listen yet 😭 but I’ve heard some songs like Liquid Smooth and Brand new city and those are beautiful🙌
Oh god listen to it right now! It feels very open and jagged in the best way possible. Just raw emotion. It consistently makes me feel so intensely. Even after listening to it to pieces.

Lush is a complete different vibe almost alternative jazz influences, you really should check it out. It sounds like creepy lounge music if that makes sense. Comforting yet alluring yet, dangerous in a way
i love that mitski subverted expectations w this album….people tried to pigeonhole her as “sad girl indie” and she rebuked that and made another phenomenal album with emotional and musical range that was still a cohesive piece of art
the best way i’ve ever been able to describe mitski’s voice is like a pond: still and clear with depth
personally i really like "bury me at makeout creek" it has that noisey guitar signature that mitski was known for

puberty 2 - stiil punk rock but with more other things and sounds, one of my faves too
be the cowboy - synth pop, soft rock and more
as you can see it seems her albums come in pairs when it comes to genres, laurel hell continues with th synth pop but now with disco influences, her songwriting is also on another level
I'm here for all Mitski content. Great picking on some stuff as well. Mitski is one of my favorite artists and I hope I could see you listen to her previous works.

Put this on randomly the other day and was immediately in love with it. Its such an amazing piece of work. Cant believe this is at the bottom of ppls album rankings...each to their own I guess. Cant wait until this arrives on vinyl.

its my least favorite (i still love it though). her other albums have more variety, and im not the biggest fan of pop music.

*"I Guess"* is a little her albums story. She's been making music for a long time and while she lives for it, it's also wrecking her. She's said in many interviews that she's getting burnt out on being famous. I think her music and gut wrenching emotion has resonated so deeply with her fans that people have been putting her on a pedestal and pigeonholing her into "sad girl music." She shared that she was going to quit music in 2019 but she had one more record on her contract. This album seems to be a reflection of her music career and what it demands of her. It's a goodbye to celebrity and a hello to her authenticity I'm really happy and excited for her but also heartbroken. I'm grateful to witness artists open up about the truth of having to produce for capitalism and how that effects creativity and choosing to prioritize thier well being and happiness.

the only heartbreaker is ten times better live trust me it was an amazing experience i got to see it in detroit and i was just blown away
