    Being a fellow Brit, and not being able to (probably ever) afford a property, I feel like I can live my property dreams vicariously through you! It looks better and better with everything you're doing! :)

      Bunny Flick why? Is it too costly? Don't lose hope

    • @lexm17
      @lexm17 6 років тому +4

      Jayeeta Bardhan very costly, mainly in the south. In the north where i live it is much cheaper but i live in the most expensive area in my county so i will probs never get to live there which is a shame cos it's gorgeous as we're surrounded by the countryside and we have pittoresque villages and towns

      Gracie I am sorry for you guys😬😬😬 I recently moved to US from Russia (thank God) and was able to buy a nice house in California after 3 years of hard work...so don’t give up. I am so thankful for all the opportunities this county gives me. I am sure with hard work and good education you can do things!

    You've done an amazing job with the house, I don't know many people who'd have taken this project on. You've achieved a lot in a relatively short space of time. I've enjoyed watching the journey.

    Everything is really coming along. It always takes more time then you think. We have been at ours for 3 years now and it is finally getting done. There is something really satisfying in knowing that we did it all our selves and for very little money. As and when is our motto.

    I honeslty admire you positivity! I started the renovation of my home more or less in the same period as yours. Watching your previous videos I thought yours would've been ready by now, while mine is gonna take at least another month, so I was like "oh lucky her!". But then watching this right now, makes me realize that it takes time and that I have to be patient. It's so hard though, I can't wait to move innnnn!!!! Btw you're doing an amazing job. Can't wait to see it done!! xx

    Are you sure it's ok to not have a shower curtain? I have that sort of shower door and I had to put a curtain on to cover the rest of the bath side as water was getting everywhere.... Anyway the house is looking amazing! Must be so exciting to have finally reached the decorating stage. I'm also amazed at your ability to thrift/find cheap or free items too.

    • @HermioneChantal
      @HermioneChantal  6 років тому +16

      I definitely will have to test it out, if it needs one I’ll pop one around it 😀 my nan has one like this and it seems to keep the water in, but I’m a bit nervous about it, so thanks for pointing it out as I’d completely forgotten that I was going to test it. And thank you for the lovely comment 😀

      We had a glass panel like that at our old apartment, and as you said the water got all over the wall and it basically made the paint come off in a bunch of spots. Considering the wall behind the toilet is pretty far, i don't think you will have this problem with your shower. I would have maybe tiled all the way up to the ceiling though. The house is coming together slowly but surely !! It will look so wonderful in the end ! Keep up the hard work :)

    Another tip for finding things that I do myself is when you buy drinks (anything at all like an iced coffee or a juice) that come in a glass bottle, some of the glass bottles are quite nice if you can just take off the label. I don’t own a vase but I have these small cute looking bottles that hold a flower or two and look really cute all over the house. People comment on them and are very surprised when I tell them it’s just a drink I had and saved the bottle.
    FYI I live in Australia, it might not be as common for things to come in glass over there, not sure to be honest.
    Also another edit...a tip with the bricks is to use them to outline garden beds, not sure if you have enough but old bricks should be cheap to come by, and it looks really nice, if you put them in with a bit of mortar (or whatever it’s callled). My dad did this with old bricks in the garden of a house he built.

    Call me crazy but I think it would add some neat charm and character of you painted the doors something other than white. Like it makes sense for the inside to be white and match the rooms but I think it’d be neat if the side facing the hallways was a different color

    Fortunately I grew up with parents who did it themselves and was given a brush and can of paint by Poperdoo at age 8. I started right then and there at the door...... At the end found myself finishing that lovely floor,it was, and at the only window. Yelling to my Dad,he told me to climb out said window, where I would dry corn and he got the ladder to that wide porch to the back door. Never chiding or laughing,this was the start to my fearless future. I do so love your progress reports. Thank you from Pa,USA.

    Hi! I really like what you’ve done with such a beautiful house and how is everything coming along, BUT (hehe) as an architect I cannot beleive how could you install that lighting fixture in the middle of the archway in the entrance... I think that architectural detail would look so much better untouched! I recomend that you put the light either in the entrance hall or in the wall on the staircase space (for that you would need another type of fixture though)... anyways, i congratulate you for what youve achieved! You should be reslly really proud!

      +Hermione Chantal great! I'm excited for the final reveal...the house is looking beautiful. Sadly I'm not good in construction so I don't have any idea for you on how to cover those gaps 😖

    • @Cynthiaa315
      @Cynthiaa315 6 років тому +15

      What tend to happen is that wood contract and expand with the season. Because it is the warmer season it is going to contract. This would be the perfect time to pull the planks up and put them closer then add a little extra on the ends. It is tedious but worth it. There is no cover need to cover those beautiful pieces of wood. Just fill in the gaps.

    • @belle4078
      @belle4078 6 років тому +2

      Hermione Chantal my floorboards sometimes have gaps too, so i use wood filler. Not sure if it'd work on your floor though

    The house is looking great, really coming along well.
    The shed/lean-to in the back garden, just a thought, but have you had it looked at, as my concern is that it could possibly have an element of aspestos. If it's stable it's not a worry so much but it can be expensive to have it removed if it's starting to break up.
    Hope it's not aspestos and it is just concrete and metal.
    Sorry if I've upset or panicked you, I just thought it better you have it checked out.
    Keep doing what your doing, the house will love you back for years to come. X

    How do you best remove a dado rail? We need to do this in our house we are buying and any advice would be very welcome! Fab video btw!

    It's looking incredible! Where are your up stairs bathroom tiles from?! They're exactly what we are looking for when we renovate our bathroom! They look completely flat?
