I first found your channel when my top loading Whirlpool washer started malfunctioning and the lid lock came on. I couldn't get my clothes out. I'm really, really grateful that you showed how to do the right-right-left-right trick, etc. (which worked on the first try!). I'm still not ready to call a repairman. I want to try to fix it myself. (Grappling with a shower handle that suddenly died, so that takes priority.) Anyway, because of things I learned from you I can trick the washer into more or less washing a load of laundry, so I get by. Occasionally, though, the lid lock comes on and I can't get past that point. What worked for me one day was (out of frustration) I lifted the locked lid the fraction of an inch that it allows six times. It worked. Perhaps it was a fluke, but maybe you can play around with this idea some day when you have a locked lid. Generally I can use your tried and true method and it works, so I haven't tested this idea yet. Thanks for sharing your knowledge so generously. Your videos are great.
For those too lazy to watch the video, basically you just smash the glass with the crowbar and then reach inside and pull the handle. Works like a charm
Wish they would use the design feature of the Maytag Neptune washer. There was a green or red chord near the dispenser. If the wax motor lock failed or there was control panel/motor control problem, you pulled the chord to open the door.
You are my goto guy for washing machine information. I am really interested in this Profile One and Done all and one unit. It would be great to here what you think about it.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Hey Ben you did a super job on the GE Review. Thank You! I am going to get one. I was thinking about putting it on my charge. But I have that Maytag Bravo mvwx655dw2 on my repair list first. Its supposed to be Commercial Grade or Grade Technology but it sucks. Does not get my cloths clean. Now it is not draining properly and leaving the cloths very wet.. I am going to fix on it BUT I WAS WONDERING if you can convert the spin plate to the agitator? maybe it will wash better then.
Top loaders that don’t have a drum brake (or some other method to stop the drum) will have lid locks as required by federal regulations. Well designed top loaders will only engage the lid lock during spin cycle.
Any recommendation on dehumidifiers? I'm tired of dropping $300 every 4 years for one There's a ton of reviews out there, by they all seem to be made in China .
What would happen if a pet was in there? Stuff happens! I'm so frustrated mine wont unlock. My clothes have been in there since the ice storm. I didn't know the washer pipes were frozen and put a load of clothes in, hit start and walked away. Now only the lock light is on, and a motor sound. No code will open the door.
I have that first maytag washer in the video and I hate it. That locking mechanism is what ruined the washer. Next week I'm getting a speed queen tc5 with no switch. I'm hopeful that machine will last longer than the maytag piece of junk.
So in a true emergency, which i wouldn't even want to elaborate on, there is no quick way to open these machines. I find it ridiculous and a bit horrifying.
Hello my friend, I need some advice. I want a 1950s refrigerator, I found an old Hot Point can I get parts for older refrigerators??? What should I do.🤓🏌️🤡
My whirlpool front load, 2yrs old, won't spin dry heavy loads. The other day i put 6x towels in it and it failed to get the water out of them. Any tips?
Wow. That video was way more useful than the others I've seen. Thank you so much for reuniting me with that lost load of jeans!

I don't have a washing machine but I still love your videos.
Wth 😂 but why?

Thanks Ben I appreciate and thank you for the content.
My pleasure!

Ben Freeman, fixing an appliance that's only gone Half of its Life.

Amazing! Thank you good sir 🫡
Thank you very much for the valuable information you post.
It be some good stuff! 😜
We were able to unlock via the top with a hook method. Opened w/o issue. But, now seems like it won't lock to turn on. ANy ideas?
Why are they locking a top loader? For the algorithm! I always have questions as the vid goes on

Love your channel!!!!! So, beating it with a hammer isn’t a step?
Not on new ones. You run the risk of screwing the computer boards up

Umm may I ask about a defrost heater in a Frigidaire refrigerator why would a heat defroster fail .... a question that I never see answered on UA-cam

Power strip plug-in maybe is the cause of the lock.
For the algorithm!
Not working for mine at all.😢

Exactly
I think in an emergency you would be prying the door open. Screw the machine.
Here in the UK my Blomberg had a little plastic thing that you can pull and it opens the door if it ever gets stuck

What should I do.🤓🏌️🤡
You aren't going to find handles, drawers, or shelves. Replacements absolutely exist for, say, cold controllers, compressors, and thermostats though.
@@bensappliancesandjunk Thank you, what's the best old refrigerator that you can recommend???

It could be a unbalanced load, add something more heavier clothes with it , like couple of jeans.
If this only happens when you wash towels, run an extra Drain & Spin cycle.
