I like it to see here that you got great respect for the teacher. You clearly show that you can be humble and open to the teaching. And I see that you value the time that you have together. Reminds me of great time spending with good people together, doing some serious things.
oh yeah, also, you are a teacher yourself at Berkeley University, but this shows that you can also be a good student. So this is nice to see that 'ego' for a musician is absolutely unnecessary. Of course when you play your parts there is some kind of personality to it, but it is all for the sake of a beautiful sound. And that's it. I like your movies so if I see an update I just watch it, cause it is some form of entertainment but also with a hidden gem to it. So thank you dB!
Wow how great to hear Adam sing that Schlossberg after all these years!!! Right back in Room 333! He was 65 when I started studying with him, and all that energy is still there -- just those three notes. And how long he takes on the concept, and keeps at it. That "long line" "play through the sound" w/ his arm out, his body moving, leaning forward, w/ that crooked finger leading -- That is seared into my brain forever. When I finally "got it" one day on Schlossberg #95 - it was like "Oh! THIS is what he means!". And everyday, everyday, everyday, doing routine as he taught it to me and learning it all over again. Man. That process seeps into and guides everything my life. It's not just trumpet playing. I'm not sure I'm quoting him exactly but he said "learning the Trumpet is a great way to learn about Life." I had no idea what he meant the first time I heard him say it (probably in Trumpet class). But I do Now!
So many memories!
Wonderful!!!!
