They have to put in crazy work to get selected as an umpire for the MLB and they'll likely spend some time down in the minors for on the job training. Unfortunately once they're in the umpires union a lot of them get lazy I.E. Angel Hernandez and they can't be fired for it.
@@lysergicpillamyd483 Umpiring has moved to performance based ratings and Angel Hernandez had improved his ball/strike accuracy every year since it began being tracked. Hard to fire someone who statistically improved every year 🤷🏼♂️ i know I know social media tells you he’s never gotten a call right in his life but I hate to inform you you’ve been manipulated for clicks and views
@@Ravensflock68 I think you need to follow your own advice 🤣🤣 umpires are human. you casual fans are so insufferable just bitchin anytime a pitch isn’t in that little white box on the TV. remove that white box and you wouldn’t know a ball from a strike on borderline pitches. y’all talk like you have any judgment worth a shit in this sport 😅💀💀
I suggest following the catcher wherever he goes. Dead center with the catcher. This is how Pat Hoberg had done it, and that is how he had accomplished the perfect game.
He's not really dead center with the catcher though. He's still on the batter's side of the catcher's helmet, but he follows the helmet as it moves instead of staying inside corner the whole time.
One tip for you is just to have some fun but to be real when you put your hand up for a out when your behind the plate for a strike call don’t do that point with like a gun type position in your hand and say strike! Just a tip you don’t have to do it but I would suggest it
@@shaun2258Not really true. I got into umping like a month ago (I’m 20) and have probably done 20-25 games. I hit kids with the lawnmower on called strike 3s and am very emphatic on close calls (particularly tag plays). As long as you know the rule book well and have high baseball IQ to understand different scenarios/situations, you can add flair to many of your calls when you want. There’s nothing stopping you. The main thing is just to be as accurate as possible. You don’t have to look like a damn robot when calling strikes/balls.

I love your channel and content and have been subbed for a while, but come on you have posted this same video atleast 10 times in the last 2 weeks. You gotta get creative with content like maybe try vlogging a travel game you umpire or something but this will lose you subs
Did they teach them to throw players out of the game if they hurt his feelings . Or throw out the manager because a fan shouted something to hurt his feelings?
Everyone in this video is already better than Angel Hernandez
We love Angel😭😭😭
he's retiring either today or tommorow right?
Yea let's Gooo@@ET_Jervis

My dad is an umpire and one piece of advice he would tell you is to be a little closer to the catcher when calling balls and strikes.
That’s awesome! Appreciate it!
@@theumpirechannel No problem!! I hope you make it to the big leagues
@@theumpirechannel I try what Pat Hobert does he follows the catcher so we can be set up more with where the ball likely will be coming
No way they had these dudes doing formations 😭😭
Lmfao

Yeah but that’s also why when he’s off he’s off the entire game

*ball, nowhere near strike zone*
Angel hernandez: "strike!!!"
Umpire combine 😂
I really believe you can be an mlb umpire ❤️❤️
Thank you I really appreciate it!
It’s been awesome watching you go pro🎉
Bro is prob already better than most MLB umpires 😂
Yo, just a suggestion but you should get a strike three call
It’s the drill they do, they aren’t gonna have umpires doing wacky strike 3 calls. The goal is to see their strike zone.
Good luck man, go get ‘em ⚾️
Hope it works out! God Bless you
May need to get some gains in too my guy.
Wake up babe, new Umpire Channel post

Angel Hernandez failed
You should be creative with the strikes tbh
Appreciate it! They want it pretty standardized at the MLB camps but definitely when I'm umpiring at other places
