Very useful - thanks for sharing. Having moved jobs recently I underestimated the time it takes to learn new systems and where/who to get info from like I did at my last company! Also, I think I will start marking tasks with (20%) so I don’t forget 80/20!
Hi Paul, become a huge fan of your content recently. Please can you cover exactly how to move from audit to a commercial role post qualification? I know you’ve touched on it before but would love some more guidance on this! Thanks a lot
Make friends with the finance team of your clients. And equally as important, make friends with your colleagues. Not just in audit, tax and corp svcs but fm other depts too. They would know of possible openings.
And, keep in touch with your friends. True story - a college friend introduced another schoolmate into a Fortune 500 pharma. She stayed in that company for ten years. I myself helped another friend to redo his CV - he got into that IT MNC he was applying for and was there for q a while. Trust me, networking is the most effective way; it's not what u know but who u know. The chances of securing a position via mass applying are pretty low - more likely than not, your CV gets trashed asap.

Much needed video to watch during my lunch break on a stressful day 🤣😭
