  • MIURA, Kanagawa Prefecture--Here’s a mode of sea transport with plenty of horsepower, and one that is going down a storm with holidaymakers--horse riding in the surf.
The idyllic “Sea Swimming with Horses” summer-only tours are offered at this beach by local company Horse Trekking Farm Miurakaigan.
Some holidaymakers can even enjoy “tail surfing,” in which they are carried along through the water clutching onto a horse’s tail.
The tours take place in shallow waters of up to 1.5 meters, and beginning riders can feel at ease joining in, according to a company official.
Yuka Yoneshige, 24, who lives in Sagamihara in the same prefecture, smiled and said, “The horse I rode did a good job despite the heavy waves. It was fun.”

    134号線車で通るたびにお馬さん’sいないかな、と海岸線に眼が行きます。
    お目にかかれると、ちょっと得した気分になります。
