Custom Laundry Basket

- I made a custom laundry basket and sized it to a specific space in our bathroom. It's made from some pine/spruce leftovers, joined together with pocket holes, completed with plywood panels "upholstered" in cloth with a pattern that we liked. It's an easy project, but I had to plane and rip the boards for the stucture all to the same section (25x60 mm / 1x2.4 in). Starting from milled pine boards would have been much quicker but, you know, I had to use up some scraps that were eating up space...
It was the first time I used pocket holes joinery and I have to say that, for structural joints, I'd not use it again because it's not as accurate and dependable as I'd like it to be, while it's very handy to attach panels.
My tablesaw's top is very small and I had to add resort to creativity to get the plywood panels cut to size.
For finish, I used an inexpensive spray gun to apply white paint to the structure and panels. Well, it made a mess with overspray, the results were pretty awful, and I had to finish the job with a brush. Most probably the operator was at fault but I won't use this gun again.
I'm glad you have all your fingers. Please use a push stick in the future! It can be made with your wood scraps.
You are not kidding! That was my first second and third thought when he was pushing that wood close to the blade.
One spot of chuck in that wood or buck from the blade and he's losing fingers, if not half the hand.
Beautiful job,but looks kind a heavy,but for the rest,love it!....🥰🥰🥰🥰.
Looking to made one!..👏👏👏👏😉😉😉😉
This is satisfying and it almost put me to sleep
It looks attractive. I wonder about the functionality. I did not see where it was breathable. Smelly cloths in confined a space will be a problem. A pull on the top and some torsion hinges improve the functionality. Some pocket holes are visible--makes a comfy home for vermin.
It's been in use for a few months now and it does not smell bad :)
That said, adding a few holes on the back would be very easy.
@@DariointheWorkshop agreed.
@DariointheWorkshop I watched the whole thing wait for you to put a cloth bin inside.
Are you just pulling out the dirty clothes?
