My mom would always make a super easy broth by poaching the chicken breast in water, adobo, and sazon and sofrito. Then she would use the chicken breast in the soup itself. It always made such an amazing broth. Soooo much better than using box broth and not that many more steps. Lol

You can buy noodles made with squid ink already instead of doing the food colouring thing if anyone is thinking of trying something similar :D Same with adding some avocado or spinach to the egg yolk if you're trying to avoid artificial dyes!

This works a LOT better at 400*. It is also a lot less greasy if you microwave the pepperoni for about 45sec on med-low on a paper towel and pat off the grease. It's also better if you egg wash the flaps before you fold them over AND afterward, you'll get a much nicer finish on the tops. I also like to add crumbled spicy Italian sausage (pre-cooked and drained) along with diced onion, some crushed red peppers, and oregano.
I made these. Family loves them. I find that the greasier ones with the pepperoni gives more color to the outside of the skull, which makes it look like there are random bloody blotches. I like it! Happy Hallowe'en!

Rick Helmick soy sauce is a great idea! For the green you could also add just a bit of puréed spinach, I think a little would go a long way and it would maybe change the taste a bit less than avocado- good luck!
