Great vid 👍. Sambar are biologically hard wired to be hyper vigilant for close range ambush predation viz. tiger and leopard in their native habitat of India and Sri Lanka. IMHO, bowhunting Sambar is the ultimate test of a hunter.
I absolutely agree 👍
It takes a real experienced hunter to take a 60m shot at a neck of an animal without a rest and with a calibre that kicks as hard as a 338wm, especially in T3 lite! So well deserved! love all your content and appreciate the effort that you do in making these magical hunting stories. By the way that new hat looks awesome! will have to grab one.
Hey mate thanks for the comments and yes because that 338 is so 'lite' it kicks super hard and it is particularly hard to get it right at the range, but don't notice it when shooting at Sambar because I am in the moment! Yes the hat is not just some hat that I got and wacked a logo on it trying to sell. Like all the gear I plan to have I spent two years testing it and getting it right perfecting the right hat for our environment and so the deer also don't see it well and the birds don't give the hunter away and also making it the best looking hat on the market. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Duncan what a hunt mate what a stag preserving and what a reward man. Top stuff great ethics
Thanks heaps mate.
Great work mate, good to see your perseverance paid off, your perspective on hunting and disappointing to see the night cheats upsetting ur plans. Great hunting ethics and rewarded with a fine stag! Congratulations 👍
Thanks Matt, yes was a very interesting few days, I do believe that same big stag is the one that was standing 20 meters from me the night before that I could not see in the darkened light as it was only 150m from where it was bedded, if they had of come out ten minutes earlier I would of shot it with my bow, imagine that!
@@solosambarhunter good stuff yes imagine hey any bowshot deer is a testament to the Hunter. Might be worth seeing if a lightweight tree stands would work for your sit n wait hunts hey.
Sorry for your losses Duncan hang in there mate 🙏 door is always open phone is always on your never alone. Your adapting and overcoming stay strong 💪. you kept to your guns and it played off keep pushing brother wicked hunt
Thanks Zac for the kind words mate, much appreciated. Was a tough year.
Hi Duncan that was nearly as good as the movie ,and what a cracking stag as well keep up with the great videos mate they are great entertainment .
Thanks Rod, much appreciated, and thanks for the support.
Have just come across your channel, and see many have said this before, but your ethics and attitude to hunting are admirable and you are a great ambassador for the Sambar hunting community. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for those works mate, means a lot.
@@solosambarhunter nothing but the truth bro. I firmly believe our hunting rights will only survive in the long term if we hold to defendable ethics, including fair chase (on public land), reasonable meat harvest, and absolute respect for our prized quarry. Happy to see others like you take ethics seriously.
Congratulations on the stag Duncan great video and would have too be one of the most inspirational videos I've watched in a while...
That's so good to hear mate, thanks and glad you enjoyed it.
Spot lighters make ethical and morel hunters so disappointed in there lack of respect for hunting and what a treasured deer samba are great effort well done and well deserved
Well said mate, well said. Thanks heaps.
Brilliant work mate as per usual 👍
Thanks mate.
Congratulations mate. Well done and very respectful.
Thanks Dennis.👍
Really great the way you convey the emotion. Best production going around I reckon. We have all had a shit year but sounds like yours was truly one to forget. Keep plugging away mate. There is nothing else you can do. If you are low on work I reckon more than a few here would be willing to pay for guided trips in the bush..
Thanks for the nice comments much appreciated, yes I am actually on my way home from surgery for a disc replacement fusion on my spine in my neck so the year has not got better yet and neither will the next two months recovery! but as you said I will never give up! There is too much in life to live for. I plan to be fully functional next season. but as I can't really work on houses anymore, I hope to be running my day sambar hunting course once a week next year, had great success from the few I got to take out this year and really enjoyed it. It will all be on the website when ready. Thanks again for the comments.
What a great vid, so glad you were rewarded for your perseverance , beautiful stag well done ,enjoyed this vid immensely.
That's great to hear mate, makes all the hard work in creating it worth while. Thanks for watching.
Duncan I am sorry to hear of your losses bro, that struck a chord... I believe your father was there with you 100%, I often muster guidance and strength from some of my gone family members. Really enjoy your attitude and gratitude mate, it's bloody refreshing! What a stag, but fully agree it's actually not the only reason you're out there doing it
Thanks Jamie, appreciate the words brother, definitely been a hard year indeed. Hope to see you get to the mountains this year.
Thanks for making such great content mate
I really appreciate the honesty in your dialogue, it’s unusual to hear anyone talk so candidly and unselfishly about anything.
Well done
Thanks for the kind words mate, nice to know there are others out there that can relate. Glad you enjoyed it.
Congratulations mate sorry to hear about your loss, great hunting well done it couldn't of happened to a better fella🍺🍺
Thanks Andrew, appreciate the comments mate. 👍
Thanks for sharing mate, another epic hunt. All the ups and downs and the reward at the end. I think your parents had a bit to do with that one. Condolences and I hope they RIP 🙏♥️
Thanks brother, yes I do believe my dad was on my side that day.

Great job Mate, the way you produce these films is nothing short of A class producing, very well done and great stag.👍
Thanks heaps mate, I really enjoy telling the story and hopefully inspiring others to becoming good hunters.
Cheers mate I get out solo a heap I just need to become good haha well done.
I will be running my own one day Hunting course next year, if you really want to learn how to hunt these deer check the website next year, I will teach you everything.
Well done Duncan, an amazing hunter once said to me. "I don't want just luck and I don't want just knowledge and skill, I want 50% of both"
Seems to me that day you used your portion of both.
Onya mate, production was amazing for UA-cam. The effort you've gone to shows in spades.
Spewing about the spotlighters, they seem to be everywhere atm.
Thanks John, they are smart words mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
EPIC!!! That’s the best UA-cam vid I’ve seen in a long time. Congrats on a cracking stag. I know what you mean about sometimes someone’s looking over you, I lost my dad a while ago and feel he looks out for me every now and then. Cheers Ben.
Thanks Ben, yes they are always looking over us, the chain of events that led me to that stag was unbelievable. Thanks for the support and sorry to hear about your dad.
Good stuff mate! Really enjoyed this one! Really felt like a professional TV show!
Pity about the spotlighters, but the events and excitement of that last hunt will certainly wipe them from your memory. Nothing beats the rewards and memories that come from good honest hard work, something they'll never understand👌
Keep up the great work, might catch ya out there some day 👍👊
Thanks mate, yeah I have definitely learnt to not be put off by them, karma will sort them out. Happy to share a fire anytime mate.
Amazing watch. Thanks for taking the time to film and share.
Your welcome mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it.
epic Duncan another great adventure mate, i missed the old faithful beanie lol. so sorry to hear of your loss mate
Thanks a lot Rob, I cannot find that beanie anywhere! I think I may have dropped it in the bush.
Maaaate! Thats a cracking stag. Well deserved and well done. Bravo.
Thanks heaps mate.
Magnificent story mate 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it.
Solo samber huntre your the man!! Wicked video
Congratulations Duncan bloody good stag mate 👍
Thanks heaps, glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome work mate!! Loved some of the raw footage where you can actually see how hard it is to film by yourself and try and shoot. Annoying that the spotlighters almost ruined your trip and hopefully one day they are caught but you got rewarded for your hard work and perseverance!!
Looking forward to the next video 👍👍👍
Thanks mate, yeah trying to film and shoot up close and capture the moment definitely a hard but challenge.
Really well put together video mate. Congratulations on the hunt
Thanks 👍
Another fantastic video, thanks for sharing. Could you please let me know what the orange long sleeve top is you are wearing? Thank you
Thanks mate, the top is a hunters element bush coat, not sure if they still making them as I got it on sale for 50 bucks. I do really like it though.
Love your video. Amazing well done
Ripper vid mate really enjoyed the watch.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks mate!
Farken awesome well done 👍
Thanks mate.
You my Man, are Bad to the Bone!!! Congrats Legend
Ha ha Thanks brother, cant wait to see more of ya bow and arra action.
Ripper stag. Good content. Would you be interested in an exchange hunt in nz for a tahr or chamois?
Epic trip!
Sure was, thanks mate.
Great stuff 👍
Thanks mate.
Great video - well deserved. Have you thought of saddle hunting when ambush hunting? The Yanks are right into it and it may suit what you are doing and allow filming as well.
Thanks mate, yes that is how I have shot many of my Sambar with the bow up the tree stand, but I guess I am trying to always increase the challenge and get some creative camera shots from the ground which seems to be real challenge when hunting solo, but great fun at the same time. 🤙
Quality video as always Duncan, great stag! What video camera/camera do you use for filming? Cheers 👍
Thanks mate, I use the nikon B700, Panasonic FZ300 bridging cameras, also the gopro and my S21 Ultra for low light situations.
Awesome! Thanks for that 👍
Ime a mad kine sambar hunter hear were i live in NZ i shot meney of sambar stags mate. To get one with a bow like that is a real achievement .love your channel mate riper of a stag at the end beautiful animal congratulations . What caliber rifle do you have??.keep the videos comeing mate
thanks for the comments Dean, yeah I have shot many sambar with the bow and yes it is a serious task indeed, but trying to get really creative footage of doing it though seems to be an extra challenge which I am loving at the moment. I use a 338 win mag T3. 225gn ttsx.
@@solosambarhunter 338 win mag excellent heavy hiter for them big boy stags. I use its little brother a 300 win mag both excellent sambar calibers 💪👍
nice work mate
Thanks mate.
Legend!
Ha ha thanks mate.
Love this vid and all your others BUT… haven’t seen you shoot anything with the bow anywhere…Have you ever bowshot any game? Not taking anything awaything from your great vids but am not finding anything anywhere with you’re bowshot game.
Thanks Chris, glad you enjoy the videos, yes mate I would be up around 13 or 14 Sambar with the bow by now, that is not the issue for me, the trouble is I am so amped on getting a really creative bow shot with the cameras and doing that by yourself is a real challenge, but I'm loving it.
forget auto zoom
Awesome animal dude
Great vid
Cheers for sharing bud
