I love that David now has a cardboard DM screen. It just shows you need practically nothing but dice and your imagination to play this game. I heckin love D&D and this show is a pleasure to watch 😍
Getting caught up. D & D Role Play is not my jam. However, I am a Slop Goblin, so I hung in there and this is awesome! I really appreciate Adam’s added notes of rules, so I know whats going on. This is Slop Goblin approved, by me!
That was a FANTASTIC way to do backstories!! My heart was in my throat for so many moments and Rory's??? David's descriptions during that sequence were so on point, I was covering my face, leaning back, and even jumped with how intense it was! Everyone did such a fantastic job and the characters' personalities are shining through in every way (especially Victor's anime boy coat twirls and epic one liners!). Y'all are doing a wonderful job! Also, not to say I called it when I didn't say it aloud, but Alistair has always been a little sus to me. I've never fully trusted him so hmmmmmmmm what will be revealed later on??
Thank you for this well-told story. Dreams as a way to include backstories and foreshadowing, excellent narrative choice. Everyone brought depth to their characters. I now look forward to Mondays.😜David, I am stealing your "Detect Magic" flavoring for my own characters.
I’ve got to say, the sound quality is so fantastic on these episodes. I can’t imagine the logistics behind filming these! Also, LOVED the dreams, that was fantastic. This world in general is interesting, I can’t imagine creating a home brew setting but god damn is it fun to watch and learn about.
Hi, Adam here, editor guy, you have no idea how much you just made my day with this comment. I worked very hard to get the sound to be a good as it could be, it’s a lot harder than our normal videos with just me and Jay. Thank you 😁
@@BonusActionRPG When I say I've watched a lot of Critical Role and Dimension 20, it's an understatement. These episodes go toe to toe with the quality in sound. I've watched them with ear buds and with speakers and it's fantastic with both. So, you should be proud because it's a high level of professionalism.
Well, this episode really looséd dreaming of backstories right into the world, right? Eh? Yeah? Aw-right! I'm a barbarian at heart, and the dual-misinterpretion back-and-forth energy between Bar'b and Todd is fuelling the dim li'l recesses of my rage-driven soul. Don't worry Marlon! They don't care about your stature - the fact that you headbutted a multi-headed monstrosity to death is enough for them! Hmmm... a barbarian shadow monk... less about stepping quietly from shadow to shadow than ripping through the darkness to close with your foes... ... ...if you'll excuse me I have some character stats to consider...
Another fun episode. Cool narrative technique in the dream sequences, really interesting way to explore current character psychology as well as backstory. TBH, I am used to getting slightly longer doses of D&D from other live plays, but I can see the upside of doing shorter sessions each week, easier for people to swallow & digest each tasty story nugget 🙂 (P.S., I very rarely skip ads, except for specific instances. I know how important that revenue is - especially to smaller channels)
Tbh, I've fallen off many of my other beloved actual play series because I just don't have the mental energy to watch that long every week anymore. I think between Sword AF and now Bonus Action, these shorter sessions definitely hit the perfect time scales for me.
I wasn’t able to comment to the last episode but I’ll say a bit from last episode. Great combat with chimeramaid. I’m still confused about Marlon’s stats because of low attack bonus and low AC still baffles me. I’ve addressed it before but I still don’t understand. Cute moment with Victor and Rory at the end of that episode. For this episode, quite a reveal that Todd is an amnesiac by magical means. I like the flavoring with Bric’s spellcasting. I’m a big fan of flavoring to fit the theme of character builds. I always love dream segments, nice to see a little bit of maybe young Victor’s past. But at the same time ooof. Bar’b’s dream was a little unsettling, I don’t trust the old fairy at all. That’s definitely not gonna bite them in the future. Bric seeing the Forge Giant was pretty cool and putting into perspective what his journey will be and etching his cup signed by his ancestor is pretty cool too. Cool seeing Marlon’s backstory with his training with the Shadow Dancer Monks. I don’t trust Alistair with how he’s running things and not revealing everything, especially with the fact he knew that the Z knights were involved and knew of Victor history with them. Rory’s dream was interesting the fact it was a recent event and was pretty unnerving with shadow figure that appeared to him. Is that his Warlock patron? And coming to that Alistair has been lying maybe. He’s not trustworthy so it’s possible. Todd’s dream was interesting too, was Todd a wizard or spellcaster of sorts? Very interesting that he was experimented and they don’t know what’s the cause of his amnesia blockage either. It was confusing just like he is 90 percent of the time. He’s almost always confused haha.
Fantastic place for a character check-in, but this really isn’t helping my ‘I don’t trust Alister’ problem. What do you want all those artifacts for buddy?
I got to this episode a bit late, but I *had* to make time for it before tomorrow's new episode! So here are my most urgent thoughts, in order, written as I watch: - Todd! But Todd's brain, though! Wasn't expecting anything like that, especially not so soon! I can't wait to see where that story goes... - Bar'b is so incredibly wholesome, and must be protected at all costs, but... fey pacts, man. They're a bitch. I only hope Bar'b gets to the end of hers mostly intact... fucking fey, man. - This whole "I'm going to write my thoughts as I watch" plan has fallen apart, because I was too enraptured in the story to stop and write stuff....... - The world needs more Todd & Bar'b interactions, there can never be enough, these two are hilarious together 😂
Hi, first time viewer here. I just finished Rory's dream (1:01:31) and oh my god do I have theories: - From the second minisode, I had the thought that Alistair might be trying to restore his divine/clerical connection to the sisters via collecting all the artifacts? And this dream might prove it. Bc we have the purple sister speaking to Rory about truths and lies and mysteries, and what role Alistair plays in all of this. If the plot twist is not Alistair, maybe Sterling is a Big Bad? Maybe it's both??? Also, do we know which sister/deity Alistair follows? If it's the purple sister, it could be her as Rory's current patron (who is Celestial? I think that's the term?) and she rejected Alistair or the War separated them... Arghhhh that small plot is driving me crazy. - Could Rory and Kasha (female teifling chasing after Victor) be related? As weird as that sounds. - Rory and Victor are my favorites so far. - Todd... watch him turn out to be a badass who keeps his carefree attitude toward life. I just think that would be funny. - Bar'b... if there's anything I know about the Fey, it's that you don't say your name around them and that you don't thank them. The fact that she did both says that the Fey might have her more than we know. I can't wait to see what happens next!!!
Rory’s internship was definitely with pay but he just assumed it was unpaid and they just never bothered to rectify his misunderstanding

Thank you all for providing another great episode!
BAM!
I love that Bric shit talks his ancestor, then asks for an autograph.. 🤣
And Rory's dream was wild af 😶
Another great episode ❤️

I'm a Bar'b GIRL! When I thought I couldn't possibly love Rory more....

Why did I hear this episode title in David’s voice singing Wheels of a Dream
