Dea Matrona are one of the best new bands around today. I’m so happy they are getting attention. Rockpalast has such a great history of amazing bands and this a great milestone for Orlaith, Mollie and drummer Jamie. Thanks for recording and sharing.
Always so talented before the pandemic, in playing live in the last year Dea Matrona has progressed a whole magnitude forward in their musicianship, their presentation and their R&R drive to the best band today. No pretense, no hype, no BS, just kick-A R&R the way it should be. They are the real 2023 inheritors of Ireland's greatest player, Rory Gallagher; he would be proud indeed. ps: please come to the US ASAP, you are much needed to show how R&R is really done.
I'm glad you checked them out again. This was a really good performance and an honor for them to get recorded for Rockpalast. They are making their name on Irish tv soundtracks too. They've had two separate original songs in two separate tv shows and for the Blue Lights show they had an original played in season 1 and for the season 2 finale they were actually on screen performing a Dolly Parton cover in a bar.
love the intro!!! Red button is as catchy as fudge.. i love Dea's Harmonies (especially in Red Button / Homeward bound) - thanks WDR - for the timestamps GREAT camera work WDR - THESE LADIES PUT ON AN AWESOME SHOW!! LOVE IT!!
Thanks to RockPalast for this excellent recording of Dea Matrona's recent performance at the famous EuroSonic festival . RockPalast has a long and venerable history . I remember watching all the big rock bands performing on RockPalast during the 70's . ☺ No record producer puppet strings here . Just a love of writing and performing classic rock , and these ladies do it in style !
Yes, they are very good and not very well known yet. However, they've been touring Europe and the UK as support and as headliners and playing festivals quite steadily the past few years and opened for some impressive names like Van Morrison, Status Quo, Eagles of Death Metal as well as Kris Barraas Band and Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiphlet who brought the ladies on stage to sing the Stones' Dead Flowers with him for most of the shows. They will be playing legendary Wembley Arena on September 28th on a mostly country artist bill so you can see they are very versatile with rock, blues, country and folk easily in their arsenal.
You want to hear Grammy performance check out Larkin Poe . They are true pro level instrumentality not this amateur stuff these lady's are doing . Vocally these ladies are ok but to shine they have to start using good material. This stuff seems uninteresting and derivative
Reminds me of the California Girls band. They played in an alley club in Old Town Pasadena that was packed every time they played. Yea girls, keep these videos coming.
Google Translation to English "The trio from Belfast with the two front women Mollie McGinn and Orlaith Forsythe have dedicated themselves entirely to groovy riff rock. Classic rock bands like Cream, Led Zeppelin, Joan Jett and Fleetwood Mac were the inspiration here, but also contemporary ones like Tame Impala or Royal Blood. In 2018, the two sisters Mollie and Mamie McGinn founded a band together with their longtime friend Orlaith Forsythe with the aim of combining hard guitar riffs with strong vocal harmonies of high intensity - authentic and not too "clean", but with style. Their Latin band name refers to a Celtic river goddess - a small nod to their Gaelic heritage. The band earned their spurs on the streets of Belfast. The local music press quickly takes notice of the young women and hypes them up as one of Northern Ireland's best bands of the moment. The songs "Stamp on It" and "Make You My Star" reach #1 on the Irish and UK iTunes Rock charts. Meanwhile, Mollie, the youngest of the bunch, has dropped out (Note, The youngest was Mollie's younger sister Mamie, not Mollie. ) and Jamie is now on the drums, but the trio carries on undeterred and is causing a stir on the European rock circuit. They have played support for Van Morrison, guested at the Reading Festival and the Leeds Festival and have now racked up millions of views on UA-cam."
Thanks, Thomas, in addition, they have toured Europe with Eagles of Death Metal, toured the UK with Kris Barras Band and also with Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett (who brought them on stage with him a cover of the Stones' Dead Flowers). They had also opened for Feeder and also for legendary rockers Status Quo. They have had their own headlining Irish tour and will begin their first headlining UK/IRE tour in May'23. In addition, they've played many festivals across Europe, won the Northern Ireland Music Prize award in 2021 for Best Contender (new comer) and Best Single of the year (Stamp On It). They've had a couple songs hit #1 on iTunes Rock charts for thee UK and Ireland. Recently Stamp On It was include in an episode of BBC series Blue Lights (season 1, episode 4).
It seems Oh Well has become a real live fan favorite. With only two covers in their live set, and more originals on the way as they are working on the debut album, I hope they continue to find room for Oh Well, not to mention their wonderful covers of Crossroads and Cradle Rock. Good 60s, 70s and 80s style rock is in good hands.
These lasses can certainly deliver the goods and the drummer ain't too shabby either. Excellent how they can swap and play both lead and bass. These ladies have a bright future with the right support and promotion as they will undeniably continue to develop into a must see live act.👍❤
The album is a great. Classic rock sound with hints of funk, jazz, pop and country. The reviews have all been favorable and it made nice UK official chart positions.
Ur performance will be better and better! Very professional as this times..😋 I´m waiting extremly 🥰for new songs, written at the back seats of ur car...for example in an old Innocenti Mini Cooper B39....

@@markholland1778 I believe the last time they played cradle rock live was at the ' Transmusicale ' gig last year . That full set is on UA-cam . It would be great if they added it back to their set list but with new original songs coming along I can understand that covers are taking a back seat .
The just announced they will be playing Wembley Arena September 28th as part of the NFL (American Football) Jacksonville Jaguars, "Jag Country" show in advance of the Jaguars-Atlanta Falcons game in Wembley Stadium.
@@groover5524 It will expand their audience too. American country music is not a totally foreign genre for them and the country and rock audiences often overlap anyway.
Although Dea Matrona sounded very good with Mollie's sister on the drums, now they should much better with this great drummer. Congratulations to the three of you!!!
In the US, it’s disguised as blues or country. My favorite American artists are The Ally Venable Band and Larkin Poe, often under blues. Also, Lynyrd Skynyrd type bands like BlackBerry Smoke and Whiskey Myers are sometimes under country. Rival Sons is a good hard rock American band. There are others, just don’t get mainstream attention. However, I do love this Dea Matrona band from Ireland. They are on the verge of breaking out.

Thanks, Rock Palast for the high quality multicamera shooting and perfect sound. Dea Matrona worth it
This mix needs a bigger bass sound.
AWESOME !!!!!!!! So damn dangerous ........
Keep it up girls!
This is the best live mix I’ve herd from these girls congrats to the sound engineer usually everything is partially drowned out by the drums
Love the fact that they switch guitar and bass between them!
Big deal.
Great live production and big sound. Very Balanced. Nothing more dynamic than a tight 3 piece band.
The drummer was very lucky to watch at such beauty 😍😍😍
These girls are on their way to stardom. 🌠
They are just amazing......great musicians, great voices, great lyrics.....love them......🥰🥰🥰😍😍🤩🤩🤩
I really loke the Oh Well cover -way back from the outdoor video posted a few years ago. Good to see a slightly new developed live way.
Orlaith and Mollie really complement each other, equally talented and wonderful in every way.
They are a super-team!
