That tool looks like a spindle roughing gouge and should never be used on bowls, emd grain can snap that tool easily... due to the metal made from flat bar not solid round steel like bowl gouges!

Nice! I have begun to see that Parkside tools can be of use to us happy amateurs. If I had the space for it, I’d consider adding one of these lathes. Turning looks like a good deal of fun.
Aldi in Australia has sold this lathe under the Ferrex brand. Thanks for providing an example of something that can be done with this lathe. Note that it doesn't come with any wood turning chisels. Also, as others have mentioned it comes with an unusual M18x1.5mm headstock thread.

That looks very good, would you say that it is worth buying one for light work and how can I get hold of one . I live in Almeria Spain 🇪🇸. Thank you . 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Thank you dude! For small jobs I recommend it, you can buy it on lidl website for 79€. Keep in mind that the part where the gouge rests will break at some point, you have to be able to make one for yourself. For the rest, buy it!👍👍
hi.I bought it for 44eur reduced sale.the rest broke instantly, motor staled due moving of cooling fan inside,i also broke bearing in tailstock(this was completely my fault ) ,motor on low rev has no power at all.I still belive is good for that price ,so can learn basic thing .i recommend it for really smaller diameters too.
No! I'm a beginner wood turner in Cz who bought one. It's an under powered piece of s**t. Don't waste your money. I hope I'm not too late with my comment!
As a newbie to wood turning, I bought one of these lathes, knowing that it's little more than a toy. I tried some practice cuts on apple branch stock and was immediately disappointed by the motor power. Anything more than maybe a 1mm cut and it stalls out. :-(
It is true that this lathe is not very powerful, but something can be done with it. I recommend that you increase the speed, this lathe has more power at more speed.
Lo tengo, para iniciarse al torno y su acceso a más bolsillos, vale la pena a pesar de sus limitaciones. Sin embargo, para proyectos más ambiciosos tipo Rocha KRG, ya hay que pensar en maquinarias más sofisticadas.

With a proper lathe I would agree. But with this lathe I doubt it could brake a finger nail it is so under powered 😂
quite possibly the motor would just stop turning. It sounds like it is bogged down.
