- Homeowner and restaurateur Sarah Huggins shares a look inside her stylish and laid-back family home. See how bold design moves helped transform the space from ’90s drab to modern and on-trend.
The kitchen is an important space for Sarah, as it’s where she works on the menu for her new restaurant, Mary Be Kitchen. Bold patterned tile brings character to the space, while two-toned cabinets in light grey and off-white add subtle contrast. An office nook in the middle of the kitchen creates a work hub for Sarah. The original dining and family room was combined into one large great room where the family loves to hang out. The dining room was moved to the front of the house, and is spacious enough for entertaining guests - and enjoying everyday family meals. As a mother of three, Sarah wanted a retreat to unwind in, so she kept the master bedroom minimal and muted.

This design has so much personality which I find quite refreshing. While most other houses featured on this channel, are designed elegantly, they feel sort of generic and safe. No bold choices whatsoever. But this one, this one is special indeed

Trust me..when the kids get older..friends will be around and you will be cooking for more than your family. You get to a point where you just love the family vibe of mates coming and going and how much the family home changes to suit what is going on.. Put your running shoes on... ;)

i went on a marathon watching of HGTV house hunters US and it was disapointment at the end of every episode as the buyers seemed to choose the worst home amongst 3 every time but watching these Canadian houses are like a breath of fresh air, love them all...

I love the house and their style. The beginning of the video feels really awkward. Why is it silent at the beginning? The cheery music was nice. Feels weird.

It kinda feels like she watched a ton of House & Home videos before filming this or whoever wrote the text (with her) clearly loves to use the same phrases over and over again .. haha :D
Lovin' the living, office, kitchen area and especially the lamps & tiles in the kitchen. They look great. The fake marble fire place in the dining area too.
One thing I couldn't bare is to have a bathroom like that. It looks so empty & dreary. Don't wanna be rude but the first association I had was an open / prison shower with it being open like that & "clean". But other than that it's great. Her grandpa sketches / portfolio are awesome. ❤️
I love the home except the dining table set and the chairs look too plain and uncomfortable. The chairs are low and do not match the dinner table which looks dated.

The off white/ecru or grey doesn't really complement the grey of the backsplash/wall or other colors. Its not terrible just doesn't complement - not the same tone. Grey/ taupe when off can sometimes just look a bit off especially if the taupe /ecru/off white is warm based and the grey more cool
I like a lot of things about this house especially the tiles in the kitchen but I don’t like the open shelving that feels very narrow when they could have just used two open shelves. Also that office feels like a missed opportunity. They could have moved the office to the front of the house and had a great study and put a banquet against the wall and put the table across from the kitchen I love the bedroom and bathroom. I’m basically just nit picking because the space overall is great.

IDK what you call that kinda 'chandelier' over the dinning room table, but I am so tired of seeing it in every single reno. Couple that with geometric tiles, faux fur throws, and a muted color palette. All home renos tend to look exactly the same now.
She is right. Dinning room is over rated.The reality is we don't have the time to receive often. It's a " dead" space. It's a elephant in the house a dinning table , chairs& co. The counter& stools are way eunugh on daily basis. And if visit/ guests comes a foldable table is more then ok. No need to such a decorum. Better use the space of dinning room for something useful 365 days/ year.
