I remember this on PS1... the most breathtaking intermission ever in stage 5 to space.... as well as the smoothest mid level transitions.... I always loved landing back at our Airborne Aircraft Carrier... which sadly they removed in later versions...
That was a cool touch. As long as they made it skippable I think people would like if it returned.
I used to love playing this! this version, which was basically Raiden 2 had my favorite weapon, the purple or "toothpaste" laser!

@@Edgarovski Nah, this guy was an extremely skilled player in a bunch of old school games ( and had been playing this game for about 6-7 years on and off). A lot of his strategies were extremely helpful in routing this game, especially in the 1st loop.

"Tiger heli" was the first of this kind of games with air to ground (tanks) as targets?... and the duality of machine gun and bombs?
Then came Twin Cobra. It was one of many inspirations for the Raiden series.

hey serious question, i remember back in primary school in grade 4 (2005) i played a game that was a lot like raiden but better quality graphics and stuff. the computer it was played on was the schools eMac. I was wondering if anyone knew what it was?
+John4300akaBspaz The Raiden III and IV are Taito TypeX/X2 hardware, tewy run on pc-based hardware, therefore actually it's playable on domestic PCs, although you need to tilt your monitor sideways.

You're not a human being! Strange, the PSX version ends and loops at the level 8...
In both versions, level 9 only appears if you have not died or used a bomb the entire game.
+Marisa Aki in psx version you can access level 9 if you didnt use bomb in level 8 boss

practice. the games patterns don't change so you run through it enough you'll learn strategies when to pick up power ups, which weapons to use, missles, how to NOT run through all your bombs early. plane position. just putting in the time.

kokojepry If you kill it, there's a chance that the last item drop in 1-6 will be a bomb. But if you let the first carrier in 1-2 live, the last carrier in 1-6 should drop a guaranteed shot item. This lets you switch to laser just before the sixth boss; laser makes that boss a lot easier and will get you a better time bonus.

@Keith Courage RX-78-2 this is only true for Raiden II. DX's bomb choice is based on what colour the lightning is during Course Select.
Shame that you don't change weapons...
why? purple beam is weak and blue beam is only good against bosses
More variety. Using one weapon throughout is boring. And it's neat to have players adapt.

You should have went with the Giant Purple Electric Beam of Death on this game.
power wise it's the weakest
red spread shooters covers space... missles add power
blue laser delivers power... homing missiles add cover
plasma can do both but doesn't have the power of the other 2. notice how he uses the spread against bosses. plasma beam won't kill the bigguns as quickly
@@frankystrings , not if it is at full power. Also, the way that I play the game, I trap enemies inside of that beam, thus ruining them in all manner of ways, and it also does a damn good job in neutralizing projectiles that can be neutralized.

Ive watched a few of your other vids and I like them but I have to call it. You definitely use TAS. A few times in this vid you were clearly hit by enemy fire but didn't die.
