There *was* landscaping, look at the older photos on roller coaster database.
but before it was removed it looked like crap
I don't think it was removed, just not maintained and things gradually died back over decades. The grass and a few bushes and small palms looked good. Not much room for fronds or branches that may fall on or crowd the track.
