    I think that one thing worth thinking about with Gemini's replacement is that it's kind of a stepping stone coaster for the park. It's a middle point between their family coasters and their thrill coasters. In my opinion, whatever replaces it should fill a similar spot in their lineup. I think that a really long family-thrill multi-launch would be a great replacement for it, something like Big Bear Mountain or Cheetah Hunt. A GCI around 110 feet tall would be able to take this spot in their lineup too.

    I only count it a coaster if it is on RCDB If you ride a cloned ride, let’s use the Batman inverts at various six flags park, once you ride one, you have basically ridden them all.

    youd think its not looking great but gemini still gets some of the longest lines in the park, even with the dueling aspect(which hypothetically makes it 2x faster). Lowkey its a super fun ride i really hope they keep it around.

    I feel like they need to keep the dueling coaster in a Gemini replacement. I like the family boomerang is a decent idea but my creams would be: the first hyper dueling coaster (imagine dueling B&M hyper coasters) but space would be tight Dueling launch coaster (think west coast racers) or for a family friendly, a family vekoma launch coaster (big bear) that is also a mobius loop dueling coaster

Because then there ist the other big question about powered wiegand bob kart (for example Schwaben-Park, Rasti-Land) and summer toboggans. :)

    Lightning rod is an interesting one. Is chain rod a separate credit from the launched version? Is the hybrid retrack a separate credit from the wooden version? Personally, I rode Lightning rod in 2023 and I would count chain rod as a new credit, but I know a close friend who would count them as the same

    Personally, I don't care enough about credits as much as other enthusiasts do. I care enough to answer 230 when somebody asks me how many I've ridden, but not enough to go out of the way to ride kiddie coasters, which I don't care for, or count double tracked coasters or relocated coasters as separate coasters, which I also don't.

  • @MattMcIrvin

    (I have a dream of doing a coaster vacation someday that would just be a tour of Pennsylvania. Or maybe separate tours for Eastern and Western Pennsylvania. The state honestly punches WAY above its weight for coasters. Many enthusiasts might rate Knoebels' Phoenix, or Kennywood's Phantom's Revenge, or Skyrush, or something else entirely as the best--it's amazing that this is the competition. Of the few coasters I've actually ridden in the state, the best would be Fahrenheit--if only the line to ride it weren't so brutal.)

    • @coyotegames156
      @coyotegames156 20 днів тому

      Fahrenheit is a pretty underrated coaster, but definitely isn’t the best. Pennsylvania has a ton of amusement parks. The main ones would be Waldameer, Kennywood, Hersheypark, Knoebels, and Dorney. If only PA wasn’t so large. The drive between some of these parks is insane.

  • @MattMcIrvin
    @MattMcIrvin 22 дні тому

    (Maybe we should call the subject of this video "New England plus"? While I have been to Hersheypark, I haven't ridden most of the coasters that are currently there, so my experience is practically limited to New England proper, that is, ME-NH-VT-MA-CT-RI, and I haven't ridden any of the mountain coasters in VT. But here are my thoughts about that.) Boulder Dash has a great layout and an unusual use of terrain and setting, and I *want* to love it, but the last time I rode it, it had gotten so rough that it was kind of unpleasant. Since then, they've replaced parts of it with Titan Track which should help a bit, but not the parts that seemed the roughest to me. Go figure. I need to go try it again anyway. There are some other decent rides at Lake Compounce: a Sky Rocket II called Phobia Phear Coaster which is a lot of fun and was actually my favorite ride on that visit, an old woodie called Wildcat that used to be notorious for roughness but has reportedly been fixed (I need to try that one too), and a Boomerang that isn't too bad. Another noteworthy ride in Connecticut is a Gravity Group junior woodie at Quassy called Wooden Warrior, which I have not tried, but many love it. Wicked Cyclone is a masterpiece and I heartily agree with its place here as the best coaster in MA. It's my personal favorite coaster, period. I've never experienced the last lap being slow, so I think they did something to fix that problem. Mind you, I think Superman: The Ride is currently actually underrated by enthusiasts: it's a masterpiece too and Wicked Cyclone only beats it by a hair. But it does. NH is a genuinely hard choice. Roar-O-Saurus is a great ride, I've ridden it and I do love it, but I've heard it's gotten rougher in recent years (I rode it when it was almost new). Yankee Cannonball is a very smooth ride, but not super intense--it's a crowdpleaser though. I also have a sentimental attachment to Canobie's other major coaster, Untamed, a small Gerstlauer Eurofighter with some great theming. I think it's underrated and it actually may be my personal favorite ride in the state even though it's an off-the-shelf layout. But I realize this isn't a widely held opinion. Maine is NOT a hard choice. Excalibur was my most recent new cred and, God, I love that ride. It's really good and enthusiasts are sleeping on it. Since it's the only really major coaster in Maine, I doubt many people would disagree with its crown. I honestly enjoyed it more than Boulder Dash, though Boulder Dash is more awe-inspiring and SHOULD be the best woodie in the New England region, if only it gets the level of TLC it needs. What Excalibur actually reminds me of a bit is one half of Stampida, the CCI racing/dueling coaster at PortAventura in Spain. That ride probably was the inspiration for Hersheypark's Lightning Racer, but it's also a CCI, unlike Lightning Racer. But it has a twisty layout that combines airtime and laterals in a similar way, and if you took just one side of it and then made it a bit taller and more forceful, it'd be pretty close to Excalibur.

    It was hard to follow where you were saying things were at. Like I vaguely remember you saying one of the best coasters is in Indiana but I don't know where. And I think you said to ignore Kings Island but I'm not sure. And maybe there isn't anything in Michigan so you go to Cedar Point in Ohio? And I completely lost you on Illinois. @@kingscoasters Sad story: There used to be several roller coasters in Delaware and MANY roller coasters in Rhode Island, but not any more! I think in both cases, the coming of the automobile really doomed them. There was just too much competition not far outside the state that was now accessible. There used to be a lot of small parks in Massachusetts too that just died--now Six Flags is basically the only thing going in the state, aside from some kiddie parks. Many of those parks were trolley parks, built at the ends of trolley lines to attract ridership on weekends. Of the Boston-area trolley parks, Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH is the only one left standing--and I think it's because they saw early on that they needed to adapt to the age of the car. The Yankee Cannonball was part of that transformation--it's a parking lot coaster and always was, at least once it was put up at Canobie.

    Hades 360 may be the obvious choice for Wisconsin because it's the best coaster at the state's only major park, but don't sleep on the lone coaster at Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay, the Zippin Pippin. It's a wooden coaster that features a bunch of nice floater hills, punctuated with a shocking ejector hill near the end of the ride. It's a reconstruction of the signature ride at the defunct Libertyland theme park in Memphis.

      @@kingscoasters that is unless you look at past coasters. Rocky Point park used to be here and we had a few but they had a corkscrew coaster made by Arrow Dynamics.

    Storm Chaser was the 1st RMC in the US to feature the barrel roll down drop but the 1st RMC in North America to feature a barrel roll down drop was Medusa Steel Coaster at Six Flags Mexico. Medusa is also the only RMC I ever ridden so far

      I’m guessing you didn’t get a ride on Pantheon. Very hard to believe someone wouldn’t put Pantheon ahead of literally every coaster at BGW

    I grew up in the Tampa Bay area, and my dad was a manager at Busch Gardens (for 3 departments, in addition to being on the design team for Howl-o-Scream for their first 10 years of operation) between 1999-2009. I went in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2017, 2018, and 2020. My best memory: Howl-o-Scream, 2008. My second time going, I was 11, and I rode all of the rides at the time: Python (RIP), Scorpion, Sand Serpent (their wild mouse, at the time called Cheetah Chase, but renamed a few years later to avoid confusion with Cheetah Hunt, and unfortunately scrapped last year), the OG Gwazi (both sides, RIP), Tanganyika Tidal Wave (RIP), Montu, Kumba, and (at the time) a very new Sheikra, plus front of line access to all the haunted houses (perks of being the son of an employee) all in the same night. I It was an amazing experience, one of the best memories I have as a kid (clearly, considering I’m talking about it 16 years later), and when I last went to Howl-o-Scream in 2020, I wish it was the same. I understand, things were different because of COVID, but they really reduced the “scare factor” from what it used to be; in the 00s, nowhere was safe, not even the parking lot, restaurants, or bathrooms. If you were there, you were getting scared, and you knew what you signed up for. I love the direction the park has gone, shifting from more of an animal focus, to a thrill based focus. I’ve actively seen it over 20+ years; I did many of their safaris as a kid, and as an adult, and the animal interactions have definitely been reduced, but that’s not a bad thing. When I went there as a kid in the 00s, they had stiff competition as a zoo: Lowry Park Zoo (now called ZooTampa) was a few blocks away, and was objectively better even 20 years ago; The Florida Aquarium, one of the biggest in the country, is 15 minutes away; Disney’s Animal Kingdom, BG’s direct competitor, is 90 minutes away, along with all of Disney, Universal, Legoland, Gatorland, and the hundreds of other attractions between Tampa and Orlando. Their recent focus on rides, I predicted that years ago; they have to compete somehow. I haven’t visited any of the parks since I moved to NC 4 years ago. I have plans to visit all of them soon, especially since I now have 2 kids, and I want them to have these experiences while they’re still (barely) affordable
