    NOTE: Rod bolts should be 43 foot pounds, not 35!

    If I recall correctly, the two 'missing' bolts are where the rear belt covers are bolted to the pump. Check wherever you put those covers, the bolts should be with them.

    Hi guys. Really enjoy watching your videos. Have a CaymenS and enjoy doing a lot of the servicing work on it myself thanks to people like yourselves that take the time to make these fantastic educational videos. Keep up the good work. Mick. Northern Ireland

      Love it. So far it hasn't missed a beat. I like to change the oil every 5k miles for peace of mind. Thanks to all the fantastic videos on UA-cam I think I am quite confident to carry out most maintenance on my car. few weeks ago I replaced the rear sShocks, Springs and Top Mounts. Worst part of the job was removing the inner plastic panels for access to top of struts. Next job is replacing front Control Arms and Wishbones. 👍

      Yeah, I've heard the interior portion of that job isn't much fun!

    When they say you should install the oil pump as an alignment aid for the crank girdle I think they mean install it WITHOUT sealant and torque lightly, so the face of the girdle against the oil pump can slip under it as you torque the girdle into place. With the sealant on it as shown in the video, even if the oil pump bolts weren't torqued down all the way (I'm thinking they were though...), that rapidly curing sealant can prevent the girdle from mating with the block properly.

    With the balance shaft delete do you need to use a different timing belt?

    If I remember correctly, the 944 and 928's had issues with a tendency to chew our thrust bearings.

      It’s mainly the #2 rod bearing, haven’t heard much about 944 thrust bearing issues. Not sure on the 928 though.

      928's have a bad reputation chewing thrust bearings out, on the 944 less so.

    Hey guys, I just wanted to ask why you are deleting the balance shaft?

    • @BoostBrothersGarage
      @BoostBrothersGarage  7 років тому +2

      That's a fair question, and I don't have a great answer haha. The main reason is just to make everything simpler. One less belt to worry about, less seals to worry about, less rotating mass etc. If this was going to be a street car only i would have kept them, but being mainly a weekend and track toy I don't mind the extra harshness. My interior will be mostly gutted, no HVAC, manual steering etc so it's going to be loud and full of vibrations anyway! Thanks for watching!

      Oh okay, that's valid. I just wondered, I mean I know it will drop a few pounds off of the front and reduce parasitic draw horsepower wise. I didn't realize it will mostly be a track car. That makes sense. Keep up the videos!! Great stuff!

      The main purpose of deleting the balance shafts is so you can break things like the oil pickup tube and the fuel injector rail.

      I found far more people with real world experience who had ZERO issues than those who had any.
      I will be reinforcing and supporting the pickup tube. As for the injector rail, if it breaks I'll let you be the first to say I told you so.

      Yeah, look at the tons of factory four cylinder engines that never had balance shafts that run hundreds of thousands of miles with no issues. I only asked because I like that glass smooth thing, lol.

    Sometimes you gotta go backwards before you can go forwards! If you don't mind, do you think you could message me I have some questions about the build I'd like to know more about it. Because it's what I dream of doing!
