    Hey friend you should start thinking about prices per weight ;)

      Agreed! Price per weight is a much better indicator of value, especially for sets like this, which have many small pieces. Of course, if weight isn't available, then it can't really be calculated.

      @@kentslocum dont be so sure about small pieces ;) Bricklink designer program encourages the use of big pieces!

      @kentslocum Рік тому +1

      @@Mind_the_Brick I agree that a piece limit encourages larger pieces in theory, but it is clear from images of the set that a lot of that piece count went into the very detailed exterior.

    What about difference between original submitted designs and final designs approved by Lego? Does anyone sees any differences? Is it possible Lego just kept original design?

    • @cpafol
      @cpafol  Рік тому +3

      For the Bricklink Designer Program, they by and large keep the original submitted designs the same as the final designs approved by LEGO! I discussed this in my interview with the Old Engine Train Shed creator! The only thing they change is to ensure that the sets are up to structural and integrity requirements, as well as eliminating ANY and ALL illegal building techniques.

    When does it get charged to our credit card once we do decide to pre-order? Do we get charged only after it hits 3k mark or once it’s shipped? Thank you

    • @cpafol
      @cpafol  Рік тому +6

      While I haven't personally purchased a BLD set before, I talked to someone who has in the past, and they mentioned it's the same process as a normal LEGO online preorder!
      They'll put a temporary hold on your credit card when you preorder, it'll go away after a couple days. Then, once the product ships, it'll charge your card again.
      Also, I've been notified that using PayPal is a pain as they can only hold the funds for 30 days, then you'll have to reconfirm the payment information when shipped.

    • @kylokev
      @kylokev Рік тому +2

      @@cpafolDang. That's a bummer about PayPal. I hoped I could do the Pay in 4 option to lessen the financial pain like I do with big LEGO shop buys 😅

    • @cpafol

      @@kylokev PayPal should still work, I believe! It will just ask you for your information again when they actually ship the product. At least that's my understanding.

      There certainly were some bangers last year! But between the 3 series that have already been revealed, I think there's a pretty good mix of real life buildings, fantasy, and some whimsical sets. For me, it's Old Train Engine Shed, Brick Cross Station, and the Art of Chocolate!

    You should re-think your 10 cents per piece being a great value thing. Most Lego sets now beat the 10 cents per piece average easily. The only Lego sets which consistently cost more than 10 cents per piece are 4+ sets, licensed sets like Jurassic Park, Marvel & Star Wars, and some city sets with lots of large pieces that nobody buys.
    Comparable Lego Ideas sets that are not licensed are always better value. A-frame Cabin - $180 for ~2100 pieces. Viking Village - $130 for ~2100 pieces, Jazz Quartet - $100 for ~1600 pieces, Globe - $230 for ~2600 pieces, Medieval Blacksmith - $180 (was $150 before price hike) for ~2200 pieces. That's not including things like GWP, cashback sites, double VIP which you won't get with Bricklink.
    I'm shocked at how pricey these are. I don't think all the sets are going to hit the 30,000 production run limit.

    • @cpafol
      @cpafol  Рік тому +1

      It's certainly no surprise that all the sets you listed that go over the $0.10/pc. threshold are licensed sets; I think the rebuttal is right in your statement there. I think it comes to down unique part requirement and sizing of parts. Some of those SW/Marvel/ and especially Jurassic Park require some big unique pieces (lookin' at you Dinos) that the non-licensed sets just don't need!
      Also taking into account that the BLD are limited to a specific list of parts would also lead me to believe in general that they will be cheaper for LEGO to make, and they pass some of those savings on to us, thankfully.
      I definitely don't believe that $0.10/pc. is a hard and fast rule, but I definitely think it is important to have some metric or threshold when comparing products en masse. And as of now, until LEGO starts publishing the weight of each set, it's as good as we're going to get.
      All my humble opinion of course
      Which BLD S1 sets do you think will reach 30,000!!
