My dad was an executive officer for the Southern Pacific railroad. He ran what they call the communications department for the whole railroad (which was from Portland Oregon to St Louis Missouri). He was domiciled out of their general office headquarters in San Francisco California USA. I live here in the United States (of course) and wish he was alive to see your layout. I am retired now, 68 years old. In my late teens and early twenties I was a Brakeman for the Southern Pacific. Worked out of the Oakland California switching yard. Just wanted to let you know that you have a fan in me watching your work. Keep it going!
Hi David glad to see you are filling better and back in the train room. Thanks for running some trains for us. I see your help is back on the job. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the rebuild. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.
Glad to see you back David!!! Hope that your health is back to normal and that coping with your loss is going well... nice to see your cat back with you!!! Good luck with reconfiguring the track work!!!
Welcome back. I'm off to pick up your coal drag at my Ness River interchange, and move it on West. UP power. Have to do it a few at a time, can't fit in 31 coalporters in one go. Best from London.
Do you have the dimensions of the room your layout is in? its medium size room but you have done alot with it. Im looking to build a brand new layout but im trying to figure out the ideal Size room i would need for a N scale layout with multiple operations.
The main area or the original part of the layout is about 3.5m2 and the extension is about 2.5x3m. I’d have to measure it out to get you an exact size.
Ness river. Happy you are back. I just uploaded a forest mountain scenery video with the way I make my trees just now. Maybe check it out if you want to see a different forest scene.
Hi David - Really enjoyed the running session. How many carriages were in that rake at the beginning, unable to count them all? Counted 31 in the coal rake though. We all seem to alter our layouts at some time in the build LOL, I have yet to see what I will have to alter. Take your time putting out updates David, do them when you really feel like it, no pressure. Honestly time is a great healer. Kindest regards, Chris
Hi Chris, It was 43 well cars in total. They’re all Kato except for first 3 which are Micro Trains. I need to get some correct size containers for those units.
