God forbid a character with no overhead and no plus on block normals, plus on block non charging specials, with the slowest DP and worst jabs have safe pressure and neutral
It was abuseable tho? He was hard to whiff punish and was just too safe on his stuff. That being said, I think he will get buffed much like Dee Jay and JP next patch
@@jtsnow4331 Ed's 5mk was never particularly hard to whiff punish, it's just most characters have low reward for doing so, because 2hk is the only thing that will connect.
That's a pretty bad faith interpretation of this. His 5lp is fine, 2lp is great. His DP is slow but it feels easily the best in the game imo because it's active basically forever. He still has pressure and neutral, obviously. Lots of characters lack plus on block moves, you work around the drive rush system for your unga Bunga pressure but sure yes, you're probably more suited to a character with them if that's what matters to you. Eds mid range is still godly, it's just not free. Can't believe the level of tears coming out of this community. The changes are fair. Start earning your points, they're not gonna be free anymore.
Nerfing the back sway for me was the most insane uncalled for nerf, practically a whole dimension of his gameplay is now easily countered. Just taking away what makes him unique as a character. now you can practically spam di against him any time you cancel into any flicker version. I honestly would have preferred for them just to delete level two then whatever this nerf was
I said something similar to this to a friend, haha. I would take 0 meter gain on level 2 combos 10 times over than this. Legitimately removing a part of the character's identity and it wasn't something that needed to be changed at all.

I don't play Ed for his level two so it's kind of disappointing that he's balanced around it, I think he should be balanced around flicker, that's his defining characteristic and one of the most unique moves in any fighting game, and they're taking away what makes him so special for something that should just be extra if anything

One of those would be acceptable but both in tandem really affect Ed both defensively and offensively, specially considering he’s got bad lights. I honestly think the changes were unfair specially considering what was done to other good characters like Akuma. Maybe I’m a bit biased, but I felt it was unfair

I was a shoto player and i enjoy the shoto gameplay, but after trying out Ed it just doesnt feel the same. I dont mind the nerfs ( in fact i think he deserved them ) but the killrush nerf is overkill. Hope they fix it next patch

I definitely agree. Offense is already so absurdly strong in this game yet their direction continues to be to take away defensive options from characters and system mechanics.
capcom has officially lost the plot imo. their entire design philosophy just promotes luck-based, degenerate play patterns while they nerf options that actually add something engaging to the gameplay. street fighter doesn't even feel like a real fighting game anymore. this trend of fighting game devs making every modern game a high-damage gambling simulator needs to end.
I only played every night 20 match a day no more and last night I played against 15 Ryu's 🤣🤣🤣 this games are killing him self every time there's a patch people run to the character that got buffed that's sucks
ironic that the game that's all about staying out of burnout has officially burned me out. i just can't keep playing this game anymore. it's pretty much put me off of fighting games a whole. i don't see myself playing this game in the near future unless something big changes. thanks for the ed content though; one of the only interesting characters in this boring ass game.
Honestly, the only nerf I'm alright with is the s.mk recovery and arguably od blitz being -4, so u can't fish for lvl2. If they didn't want u to combo c.lk ch to c.lk at least fix his s.lp. If they r expecting people to now check with c.lp into c.lk, , ed will be eating more DIs now cause c.lp is not cancelable. Depending how much u delaying c.lp jab check. Back sway nerf is uncalled for, it is almost pointless to bait DI now 90% of the time. You will have to forward kill rush either grab or DI. C.mk if they add recovery frames to this at least giv him more range for the move to not whiff on crouchers. S.mk is kinda wateva nerf, I already hate using this move outside of whiff punishing since it's so slow (medium button with heavy frames), always getting ch when trying to poke with it. Lvl2 nerf, it feels like they r trying to make pick between Drive gauge damage vs hp damage. Ull hv to go for less optimal damage if u want to burn out so you get to the last hit faster, while if u do dream combo ur goin for damage. I dnt think this character is dead but definitely less stable. Bad nerf designs imo

@yamsSMP I disagree he game plan seems relatively unchanged. You just get away with less. I'm just about 1800MR and still doing okay. Maybe people just have had enough time to figure out have abuse his weaknesses yet, but it seems okay at first glance. He basically has all of his combos, which is why I play him personally
I agree, but most of these nerfs are pretty fair imo... i don't know, it always felt like the game was 2x easier using Ed. Not the end of the world, we've seen characters get nerfed, only to get those nerfs reversed. Let's hope for the best.

I was a shoto player and i enjoy the shoto gameplay, but after trying out Ed it just doesnt feel the same. I dont mind the nerfs ( in fact i think he deserved them ) but the killrush nerf is overkill. Hope they fix it next patch
