Very underrated and important skill set. A lot of players focus on combos and offensive pressure, but at a certain point you run into someone who can slow the game down and manipulate you with proper spacing and punishing alone.
Always valuable video, I have similar concept many times ago, but some of the detials and ideas are not accurate enough than your explanation, your explain really wash my brain and clear my mind. 😁
I always argue with my FTG friend on one topic is, I always believe that 'anti-air' is not a passive skill although lots of people saying this and including some of my friend, I always says its all about mind distribution, and the option and the style they choose. If the 'anti-air' is a passive skill, then some world-top player like Punk or someone else would anti-air on 100% rate in SF6, but we can see them also get jumped in sometime, this is because they are not really expecting or choosing to focus on air. This approves my concept, only robot treat anti-air as a passive skill. But your video are far more in details.😁
@@mengyangbai1348 This is completely true. Even players like Punk are somewhat looking for AAs. If it were that easy to do automatically they would never miss.

@@mengyangbai1348so there are “read/reactions” and then there’s “actual reactions” (something that will never hit you because there’s not enough mental stack) actual moves that require reactions and are countered 100% of the time don’t have enough going on to work effectively. Read/reactions are the reason people jump on you and also the reason certain moves have a telling animation but you can still get hit if it’s the right frame and doesn’t look exactly like the move you’re looking for. This is why when Nez said what he said about whiff punishing with the same move it works. You’re not looking for the exact move most of the time. That’s absurd and doesn’t happen often unless it’s a specific move that has a specific range and even then you’re guessing by distance. Jumping is “reacted to” because the animation is obvious, (you’re not really reacting until they’re at their peak of the jump, so they have to have frames to leave the ground and frames to come down) but as we see here even then it requires a read as well. We had this major argument in the NRS community a few years ago.

where would you say projectiles and jumps fit into all of this?
Good question. Light and medium flickers are pokes. Think of them more as long normals. spark/shoot is fairly different from a normal fireball. I wouldn't recommend playing a fireball game off it. You can pretend to, though, and bait jumps with empty spark. Spark/shoot is designed to be anti-fireball rather than an actual fireball mostly. It's very good for dealing with the fireball game in that sense.
I've watched a lot of different guides on how to play characters across different fighting games, and yours are truly among the best I've seen; thank you for these. If I may make a suggestion, it's sometimes hard to follow along with the combos while being new to the character, even with the input history on the screen. It may be harder to flow with the commentary while doing this, but if you could say the combo as you're doing it / as you're describing it instead of saying "do this", I think it would be very helpful. Either way, I'm super excited to see more of your content :-)

The MK and 2LK nerf, is already pretty bad, and they destroyed HP into charge flicker... ED was not even close to op tier like Akuma and Bison
I was a shoto player and i enjoy the shoto gameplay, but after trying out Ed it just doesnt feel the same. I dont mind the nerfs ( in fact i think he deserved them ) but the killrush nerf is overkill. Hope they fix it next patch
Honestly, the only nerf I'm alright with is the s.mk recovery and arguably od blitz being -4, so u can't fish for lvl2. If they didn't want u to combo c.lk ch to c.lk at least fix his s.lp. If they r expecting people to now check with c.lp into c.lk, , ed will be eating more DIs now cause c.lp is not cancelable. Depending how much u delaying c.lp jab check. Back sway nerf is uncalled for, it is almost pointless to bait DI now 90% of the time. You will have to forward kill rush either grab or DI. C.mk if they add recovery frames to this at least giv him more range for the move to not whiff on crouchers. S.mk is kinda wateva nerf, I already hate using this move outside of whiff punishing since it's so slow (medium button with heavy frames), always getting ch when trying to poke with it. Lvl2 nerf, it feels like they r trying to make pick between Drive gauge damage vs hp damage. Ull hv to go for less optimal damage if u want to burn out so you get to the last hit faster, while if u do dream combo ur goin for damage. I dnt think this character is dead but definitely less stable. Bad nerf designs imo

@@yui360 revert back sway to exactly how it was before. Perhaps improve Ed's 4f buttons to help compensate for cLK being nerfed. Largely improving the range of sLP. The rest can stay, even though some of it is a bit silly.

@yamsSMP I disagree he game plan seems relatively unchanged. You just get away with less. I'm just about 1800MR and still doing okay. Maybe people just have had enough time to figure out have abuse his weaknesses yet, but it seems okay at first glance. He basically has all of his combos, which is why I play him personally

Capcom: a good neutral-based character? in my modern fg? I don’t think so.
Nerfing the back sway for me was the most insane uncalled for nerf, practically a whole dimension of his gameplay is now easily countered. Just taking away what makes him unique as a character. now you can practically spam di against him any time you cancel into any flicker version. I honestly would have preferred for them just to delete level two then whatever this nerf was
I said something similar to this to a friend, haha. I would take 0 meter gain on level 2 combos 10 times over than this. Legitimately removing a part of the character's identity and it wasn't something that needed to be changed at all.
@@NezsFGC Yeah, I just hope they realize the mistake they made. I don't play Ed for his level two so it's kind of disappointing that he's balanced around it, I think he should be balanced around flicker, that's his defining characteristic and one of the most unique moves in any fighting game, and they're taking away what makes him so special for something that should just be extra if anything

Honestly, I’d say the changes in clk (doesn’t combo into intself on counter) and Od blitz -4 were pretty unnecessary. One of those would be acceptable but both in tandem really affect Ed both defensively and offensively, specially considering he’s got bad lights. I honestly think the changes were unfair specially considering what was done to other good characters like Akuma. Maybe I’m a bit biased, but I felt it was unfair
yeah and in addition pc clk doesn't combo into smp, meaning eds 5f punishes got a lot worse
