Area Diesel Service have done the best marketing a business can do as far as I’m concerned. Helping all the major UA-camrs while recording their repairs and giving video tours. Even see some of the guys rocking their merch years later.
I’ll think of them first if I ever need a pump rebuilt.

YT recommended the Area Diesel injection pump rebuild before this latest video was up. It’s well worth the watch. Now I know two things: 1/ Area Diesel does high quality work 2/ don’t bother with a diesel injection pump rebuild at home. There a ton of specialized knowledge and tooling, and obviously way more complicated than a hydraulic pump or gas fuel pump rebuild (so don’t fool yourself into thinking this will be like “other pumps” you’ve rebuilt).

Area Diesel lads are serious pros for sure. First saw them tear apart a lift pump for Watch Wes Work and this old timer of a forklift that may have been from the Korean war era or something... Wes has a serious bit of engineering knowledge stacked up to his credit and he was like "Holy Cow guys... Wow!" lol Worth going back and looking over those forklift vids again soon for me [they were what hooked me on Wes's paage after all a few years ago].

Default colour for Isuzu is a mid grey for those who are triggered by those things.
Also a trick for brushing out holes. If you find the brush is too tight DON'T just pull it out twist it before you pull.
As for the time taken to do the job. It is always "Take as long as you need to do the job properly and not one second longer"

A lot of the things you do, Matt, may seem unnecessary to some, but no one can fault your attention to detail...a lot easier to make sure things are correct now while the engine is out of the machine and you can easily access it...some things can be a proper ball ache in a cramped engine bay.

Quit being so hard on yourself! You are doing a fantastic job, the cleaning outside was pretty much the proof that you have gone over the edge 😂. Appreciate the warped sense of humor, the little cracks made me snicker on a couple of occasions. You are doing what everyone Should, but some cut corners, and we all know how that comes back and bites you in the sit down! As far as leaks go…. Ain’t going to happen. Positive thoughts here, patience and double checking does wonders for the outcome. I remember clearly the first test hop in the first helicopter that I completely overhauled totally by myself (1984) and it was so good on the first start up West Chazy hopped out of the compound and were immediately running 70 knots across the field at three feet above the ground followed by the required vertical up to kill the airspeed, to the 180 back to the ground, leveling off at three feet and 70 knots. You can’t forget something that awesome. Back to a climb to 1200 feet, then chop the throttle to idle into an outorotation. Top of the green arc at 60 knots at idle. Perfect! Concentration, following proven practices, double checking EVERYTHING makes all the difference. You have this, it’s going to be just fine 😊. ( analytical response.) 😮😂😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Fun facts about piston and bore sizing.
On the block headface you can see some letters stamped. These are the original bore size and the pistons were selected to fit this size. A is the smallest size B is nominal and C is the largest in the standard size range. Some makers will go to D and E if they are having trouble holding tolerance for some reason.
When the rings are fitted they are all the same size regardless of bore size.
Some makers will also grade the wrist pin size in the piston to allow for machining tolerances too.
The plugs in the oil galleries are often a tapered thread and a loctite coating is applied at fitment.
When checking the crank runout you should fit the caps and snug them down because the bore is not truly round until the caps are torqued.
    Cheers Eric

And you clearly know that cleaning the oil gallery is very critical if you don't want to repeat the process again. Plus sealing the cast iron parts not only stopping rusted but all metal is porase and will seap so painting it is also a sealer. Great job on your project, can't wait to see the next video.

So a big shout out to them for their build/rebuild/creation of a pristine pump .
Block is looking fantastic, so the injector pump will match nicely. And you're right, given the amount of work you've put in getting to this stage it'd be a shame to cut corners , it'd be like building a lamborghini from scratch , then doing the paint job with a whitewash brush.

Had someone I know screwed in cam bolt and forgot to tighten it when he assembled his engine. Had to rebuild his engine again. When I was diesel mechanic, I never put a bolt in without tightening it or tagging it. I worked on a lot of Isuzu engines. We were a dealer for GMC and Isuzu. I really like your attention to detail.

Long oil galleries like you have there can be scrubbed out with shot gun cleaning rods and brushes. You can get the brushes in either bronze or stainless steel bristles. Most often the rods are long enough to go all the way through the block. You do very nice work with the tooling you have to work with.

11:40 "They've got some type of secret schmo" 😅 That just cracks me up, they way he says that. Pretty sure he's not impressed by the secrete schmo.

Highly recommend to take the extra bit of time and run a tap (unless it specifically says a "thread cutting" tap and the price is ten or more times the price of normal taps and dies it is a thread chasing die which are not labeled thus) on all threaded holes. You will be surprised how inaccessible they can be when you decide to add a component down the road for whatever reason. Actual thread cutting dies will many times have adjustments so that several passes can be made to cut the full thread rather than trying to hog it out at one pass.
