- Zori and geta are two traditional kinds of Japanese footwear that are still popular and widely worn today. Since they don't enclose or restrict the feet, these sandals keep feet healthy and free from perspiration and various ailments like corns.
Both styles are made in a wide variety of materials and designs, and geta in particular are often crafted by artisans and beautifully decorated using traditional methods such as lacquer and gold ornamentation.

Wow this documentary is really good : I tough it would be a racist thing or full of stereotypes and all BUT NO ! Also yeah I bought some that's why I'm here
PS : be careful while wearing geta from online : some are not well made (since today it's more a traditional shoe than a casual) and just to make you know if they are actually well made :
1) The teeth are not nude, in order to not damage the wood there must be RUBBER or something else between the tooth and the floor.
2) The whole shoes must not be sharp or uncomfortable : it can hurt you and may collapse from your own weight or by hitting an object (like a rock).
3) The stripes MUST be tied at the last tooth and start (under) with an "iron seal" (there is screws to keeping it)
You are helpful, sharing that information on geta wooden shoes
@@JapanVideoTopics I'm so glad to have bought one pair, even after one year (if you take care of them) they still look young !
2 years after this comment and I'm just now learning you can tie the zori sandals. Them mf back straps keep slipping off 😤😤😤
Thank you for your comment! I bought a pair of geta, and that's exactly how mine are made, so I know that they are good! :)
Geta sandals look better with shorts. I'd be willing to wear some geta sandals with shorts and a haori during the summer.
I actually bought and wear one of those geta (including yukata), the flat ones. It's actually too hard to step on your feet, but I don't care if it's uncomfortable or too hard it's not complete without yukata.
Koronuru It's comfortable if you're used to walking on bare feet in your home which is the case for most Asians.
I need me some, the wooden ones. I like them already.
In Philippines it is called tsinelas.
I believe it came from Japan too during Japanese colonization in WWII
Interesting! Looks like our brazilian word for flip flops, chinelas
Who said you can’t wear socks and sandals?
Idk that’s how we do it in the town where I’m from, socks and slippers are common
I think that's referring to middle age and older men from wearing socks and sandals with kaki grampa shorts and a green tucked in collared shirt
LOL
thank you for this informative video :)
White robe with a Samurai sword are the only things that make it look good
It sounded like he was going to sing at the beginning when he first said Zori
Samurai brought me here
Jiraya anyone?
yes
1:13 that one is also commonly found in the Philippines.
Islander Sandals!
Before We're Havianas Created Nowadays
Isn't Islander sandals are mostly not rubber? I mean that one on that clip shows is Beach Walk Flipflops.
Oh I Get It....
@@Diyemmanuwel Yeah, I miss that Islanders Sandals tho', I used to wear one of those back then.
They look like regular flip flops lol
Ei. Improperly walking in geta and tengu geta.
0:29 where is that picture of a recreation of the zori from? I can’t find anything that looks like that from searching and they look so cool!
Very late, but I think they may be called woven straw zori
I used one of those.
Just have to say: CLARKSON!!!

It must be great to be able to have open toes in a real restaurant. I work at Tim Hortons, and the sharpest thing in the whole place is scissors. But sure enough, closed-toed shoes are mandatory.

Coffee Jack only if you yell out “kawaii!” at everything you see.
Wear them, you'll feel better at home, outside, and find another for the most important part, the coastlines.
What's so important about coffee? Them sandals could give you the reality of neatness is an must, clean too.
