I have tanks from 2.5 to 90 gals, and that's just fine for me. Information overload, product overload; I'm going to do my simply tried and true. I do, however like your approach; and will watch you when I can.

I can explain the slanted wall. Being from the area I know what goes best with wings and that is beer. Wings plus beer equals slanted wall. Easy math.

Doesn’t putting the skimmer after the refugium kinda kill/take away the tiny critters/copepods ?
Some pods might get sucked into the skimmer and most of the water passing though the skimmer section doesn't enter the skimmer.

Absolutely ! A fish room is a nice bonus and I've built plenty of sizable reef tanks w/out fish rooms
