I ❤️ my Norwegian he adopted us as an orphan. We took him to the vet and we're astonished he was a 7 month old kitten! He's tripled in size now. He's a sweetie 😺😸💯
Animals choose their people. My current buddy, a Norwegian Elkhound, bonded to the dog I had when he was born. The breeder had my older Elkhound ('Dash's great-great-grandmother) in the whelping room with 'Dash's mom and they just bonded. Aani taught 'Dash "how to be my dog." Aani had picked out my mother, as Moose had also picked my Mom, and Grey had before Moose. I think the previous dogs sensed that Mom was in frail health and that she needed them.
I have both a Norwegian and a Main coon. They are so different but the Norwegian is the leader, no contest about it. The Norwegian goddess is very teritorial, loves people around but on her terms and she sets her own boundaries. She didn't accept the main coon easily, it was definitely her house, but she protected the main coon when she felt threats around. I'm her hooman, but she adopted my partner as well, however her loyalty towards me is extra special. When sick, she is the one that comes to me and doesn't bother me asking for food or play moments, she just sleeps next to my head and licks me. She doesn't intrude, lets me do my things but then, I do need to pay special attention to her. She's incredibly smart, protective and I feel like I'm her baby, while with the main coon is the other way around. The main coon is also wonderful, together they make great pets and when people talk about health issues, that's ok, everyone gets sick. You get a cat, or any pet, because you know you need to be there for them, not to get just some toys around the house. Both breeds are special in their own way, curious, playful and need plenty of attention and work. If you are patient, loving and let them develop their personalities as they need to, you'll get the best pets one can dream of. I love both breeds, I wouldn't be able to choose between them. They amaze me every day and I learn a lot from them.

Not true. Mine is very affectionate, sassy, and smart, but hates disruptions to her routine.
