@@etherealenergy9471 Icarus is a mythological character. He & his father Daedalus were imprisoned. In order to escape his father made them wings made of out of wax and feathers. Daedalus warned his son when they take flight not to fly to close to the water or sun, for the water would dampen the feathers & clog his feathers & the sun would melt them. Icarus didn’t listen he flew to high, the wax melted off his wings, he fell high from the sky, lands in the sea, & drowns. Moral of the story “beware of ambition because risks can lead to unexpected consequences”

My heart goes out to family, friends, and fans.
This was actually his practice jump of like 150 feet was not his actual jump which he has I believe done the distance before. This was a terrible tragedy and our town has lost a amazing guy.
@Jim Jones 😐
Jim Jones made me do it!
Evel Knievel explained it better: "Anybody can jump on a bike; the trouble starts when you try to land it!"
Sorry for your loss!
"Everyone was traumatized by it, but we knew it would be a chance." Right. At least 1/4 of the people that went there went there FOR the chance. How many people go to NASCAR just to watch the wrecks?
As many as it takes to fill the racetrack
I love how the reporter mispronounced "Knievel" twice. Great research there. 🙄
Yeah she thought it was pronounced like knife for some reason.
ok, I wasn't the only one who caught that - obviously the reporter is too young to have known any better.
Who was the genius that designed the ramps..?? I had to watch the video to confirm my hunch of how the crash went down.
That mound of dirt was way to high look at his other videos it's not that high ..I'm mean it would be better to have the mound to low than to high..just my thoughts..lol
The young man knew the risks , To some they will say he was stupid for trying. I say he was brave and daring. Rest Well in the Arms of heaven.
nah... he was stupid.
He was stupid. He left two kids without a dad.

So sorry for this family’s loss.
On a different note, who’s never heard of the name Knievel, other than the reporter who mispronounced it?
Yeah,
She pronounced it with a silent K.
How could no one catch that?
Unreal
Ya but they think they know more than we do. Bet they have never heard of Elvis either?
@@crickittorres8077 everyone has heard of elvis Costello.

That reporter totally kneeds to learn how to pronounce things. Maybe she was being threatened with a k-nife!!! 🔪

That was bizarre.
Wish he would’ve been a street bike racer to get his fun and thrills. This level of adrenaline killed him and it’s not worth it when you have children.
Lol can still get killed street racing don't be so gullible
should have stuck with wheelies
Wish they used a foam pit on the knuckle instead of a mound of up-hill facing hard dirt.
@@seanstoner8900 That’s true, my suggested alternative was pretty dangerous too. Wouldn’t say I was being gullible, But just saying do something daring but less dangerous for excitement. How about just going for a nice ride on the trails on a dirt bike for a little fun. But I can’t knock this man’s passion. He considered being a daredevil worth dying for and his family supported that so I’m going to check my own opinion at the door and say Rest In Peace and props to him for living his passion.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
@C Cato I can tell you live an exciting life by all of the videos of you doing stuff.
Rip Alex at least you lived it your way more than most people can say in this life you have my deepest sympathy to the family I’ll pray for you an him may god bless you all
You can see it was too far. By a lay person examining it
Looks like something wrong with the bike. His speed was nowhere close to what it needed to be to make the landing ramp.
Yeah that's what I thought too. Sounded slightly off for a 4 stroke hitting a big jump and looked slower than expected.
Also it's more typical for a pro like him to be too amped up and overshoot the landing than the opposite.
Rigged bike possibly if it is dirty evil trick.
@@Johnny_Utah maybe he was in the wrong gear?
A shame his sons were not as important to him. Money and "thrills" aren't everything. Your children are.
Also putting food on the table for his kids
@@mikem9953 are you saying it was ok to do something so reckless because he was putting food on the table? It was not. Plenty of ways to put food on the table. He has (HAD) a wife. While not optimum for both parents to work, you do what you have to do. You can live with other people temporarily (if you haven't burned all your bridges) And maybe don't have kids to begin with if you aren't pretty sure you can provide for them without risking your life! He was selfish! There's plenty of people who are. Plenty of risky behavior that is more important than their kids. Drugs, crime, drinking and driving.

Im with you. Shocking no one corrected her before they recorded it. I mean this wasn't impromptu.
What an inspiration. If I were to have attempted such a feat in hindsight I would not have wanted the crash censored. That is part of his life as a daredevil. His death was not ordinary. It was spectacular. May God grant me such an exit!
CBS didn't want anyone triggered. If not for the potential of failure, there would be no dare in daredevil.

The fact that he used a 4stroke infuriates me because it is old news that 2 strokes are where the TOP END power is. You use a cr500 2stroke for jumps like this where you will be going atleast 100mph.
