Jrose's "A Button Strats" directly inspired me to do an "A Button Only" run of Pokemon Green and yeah, it's actually possible. When will the B button be buffed?
Just wanna note that against Misty's Starmie, Psychic does more damage than Swift. Regardless of the resist. Psychic with STAB does 67.5 to a x0.5 resist. While Swift does 60 with a neutral hit.
@@cursedcat6467 on the contrary, Mewtwo has by far more special than attack. Psychic does 20ish damage min. And swift does 18 max on a standard calc. Psychic always does more.
You have a *chance* to do more damage, you also have about a 10% chance to just do the same amount or less damage, so you're looking at a 4 or 6HKO, and that doesn't change using swift, whereas Misty has a 90% chance to 3HKO you if she rolls bubble beam 3 times, faster than you can 4HKO if you use Psychic and she hits you first because she has 15 more speed than you do. So using swift you're guaranteed the hit, and you're almost guaranteed to win the fight as long as she doesn't crit you in 3. Would really like to see this run perfected, using the rare candies, and knowing which moves to use on elite 4 ahead of time. You could get through the whole game without loosing, minimal battles, super fast. Good stuff.
The best consistency that I found was to not do exactly minimum battles. You need to battle some extra trainers, just to get a little more ahead with XP, as well as the TM for Body Slam onboard the SS Anne. Considering that it is a much better move compared to Swift, it will indeed make some battles easier. 25:10 Jrose after Count impression: "I love doing that!" Jrose today: "If you could just forget that I ever did the Count impression, that would be great"
I just got home from graduating high school, and this video was a lovely little bonus surprise for when I got home! Not as surprising as the slight struggle at the end, I was NOT expecting Mewtwo to do anything but sweep constantly. Everyone knew this video would be mostly conflict-less when they clicked on it, but it was fun nonetheless. Great vid!
One of Bruno's Hitmons iirc has Fissure, which is a guaranteed ohko on Mewtwo up to about level 75. Of course you have to make the mistake of letting the hitmon have an attack, meaning you either are out of psychics, using recover, or switching into Mewtwo-mid fight.......
I think i almost always learn something new whenever you do a solo run Didn't know about the badge boost glitch Didn't know bug was weak to poison in gen 1 And I just learned about the priority message system.
you must really have a love for this game to put this amount of time in for videos and for each different pokemon. Really interesting videos. I remember the first time I ever beat Pokemon red when I was a youngster, I felt so accomplished! Even though it took me using all 6 slots because I wasn't privy to elixirs or restores. The lack of info about what things do in this game is staggering. So all I had was pots and revives. I think my time was around 27 hours. Then to see this as a 30 year old... damn man. The nostalgia hits hard but it really puts it into perspective how trash I was when I was a kid lmao.
That....might actually get interesting. Partly from the TMs, but mostly because Mew has 100 in every stat. Mewtwo has an obvious best strategy with 154 special, but Mew has options. And you have to find the fastest/lowest level... Best moves would be Psychic, Blizzard, Swords Dance, Earthquake? But Swords Dance and Earthquake are in Silph Co, and might require taking an extra battle...
Great run! I think you could easily optimize this a lot further, because your expertise is in making the most of terrible Pokémon, rather than blasting through the game with a Legendary!
As a kid, I was obsessed with Pokemon.. and one time I had this vivid dream where mewtwo was sent to the region in order to hunt and destroy all the clefables that escaped and crashed to earth, but he ended up getting wounded and retreated to the cave where we end up finding him 🤦♂️ it was basically the Pokemon equivalent of the predator.
Came back to this after a few years, and it still holds up. I think it'd be cool to see a top 10 redux after the series concludes where you focus on getting the quickest time possible
Dang, I didn't even notice; I was too busy listening to the gen 1 jank. Probably wouldn't have mattered, I mean, it was a mewtwo that was higher level than the opposing pokemon, and like all they had was confusion and pound.
I don't know why youtube didn't give me your videos any earlier, I just like to work or chill while I have a pokemon video in the background. Thanks for the content.
The BBG only boosts it by 12.5% which is significantly less than the special drop which basically drops it by 33% so while it made it a little better, it's still a pretty significant drop after the leer
I learned that Fire didn't resist Ice in Gen 1 from Pokemon Stadium, where my last remaining pokemon, Charizard, was frozen solid, which is essentially an automatic loss as you can't use items. Fun times.
Mewtwo with thunderbolt, icebeam, psychic and recover was invencible in gen1. I remember soloing pokemon stadium easily with this pokemon back in the day.

@@CuulX Oh yeah, Galar, you mean that game that makes you pay 90-120 dollars for a game outclassed by Gen 4 and 5? (Yes there's always comments like mine, and I'm proud of that)
No shade, just hate gen 8
@@johnwest6690
Yeah gen 8 is awful. Tbh the games never should have switched to 3d, as well as not being made piss easy
Awe, I was hoping Mewtwo was going to be put on the ranking list lol.
He'd probably slot in nicely if items weren't allowed outside of battle either. No potions, no elixer, no PPup, no rare candy, no TMs.
It makes me happy that the Pokemon Conquest soundtrack got some love here
The purple is BEAUTIFUL! Awesome vid. Been subscribed for a hot minute now but I really should start commenting fr.
I feel like you REALLY needed a brake so this video is a welcome surprise.
Yea love the idea of just make a chill video without the frustration that he had in a couple of videos. Really fucked up.
I love your Count Dracula, please never stop doing it
It's the Count from Sesame Street, it's a pun cuz he COUNTS things.
Edit: I agree it's amazing
I would love to see how kengaskhan, schyter, pinsir and tauros will fare.
I think you mean "fear"
Right?
*right?!*
Who is Schyter?
I want to see Onix, tbh
25:10 Jrose after Count impression: "I love doing that!"
Jrose today: "If you could just forget that I ever did the Count impression, that would be great"
I would really love to see you redo the Mewtwo run now with all the experience you've got to see how quick it can be.
Great vid!
this is the man's break that he needs.
That Count impression was actually legendary.
"Just a Mewtwo"
"And also other pokemon for fly and cut etc"
Every time I watch this challenge, I worry about how Jrose is going to handle Bruno. He’s too damn strong!
You're bringing us all down Deb
The Balls on this guy to actually attempt this. That’s why I sub to this channel.
I think i almost always learn something new whenever you do a solo run
Didn't know about the badge boost glitch
Didn't know bug was weak to poison in gen 1
And I just learned about the priority message system.
I've also learned about some hidden items in the game
you must really have a love for this game to put this amount of time in for videos and for each different pokemon.
Your count impression is perfect and I love it, please keep doing it.
Mewtwo is the single most destructive Pokémon back in Gen 1, so I'm not surprised you can beat the original games very quickly.
I'm curious about Mew, because it can learn any TM.
Clefable is awesome though ;-;
Very cool
This has become one of my favorite UA-cam series.
Came back to this after a few years, and it still holds up. I think it'd be cool to see a top 10 redux after the series concludes where you focus on getting the quickest time possible
13:56 so... just casually ignoring that insane freeze luck, getting it two times in a row, huh? Smooth.
Dang, I didn't even notice; I was too busy listening to the gen 1 jank.
Probably wouldn't have mattered, I mean, it was a mewtwo that was higher level than the opposing pokemon, and like all they had was confusion and pound.
Thank you Jrose! I have always enjoyed watching your videos ✌🏻
*Sees another Jrose video*
Me: time for the weekly Koga and Bruno slander
👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Can't call it slander when it's true lol
Looking forward to the day when you have all Gen 1 Pokemon done. I guess after that you could do silve and gold or maybe platinum.
I don't know why youtube didn't give me your videos any earlier, I just like to work or chill while I have a pokemon video in the background.
Thanks for the content.
When the rival used leer in the champion battle, wouldn’t that activate the badge boost glitch practically fixing the special drop?
The BBG only boosts it by 12.5% which is significantly less than the special drop which basically drops it by 33% so while it made it a little better, it's still a pretty significant drop after the leer
I learned that Fire didn't resist Ice in Gen 1 from Pokemon Stadium, where my last remaining pokemon, Charizard, was frozen solid, which is essentially an automatic loss as you can't use items. Fun times.
Fire Types were pure trash in RBY. There are no Fire Types even in UU
moltres is even an NU Pokémon in Gen 1
@@bryanc1772 Not even Arcanie? Charizard got the biggest buff in gen 2 from gen 1 along with Marrowak.
@@bryanc1772 moltres is in ou now lol, times have changed
Mewtwo with thunderbolt, icebeam, psychic and recover was invencible in gen1. I remember soloing pokemon stadium easily with this pokemon back in the day.
Alakazam is my favorite nonlegendary and I love that you respect that line.
Mewtwo is basically an indestructible killing machine though.
4:25 OMG a youtuber finally said "based off" instead of "based off of"!
Get this man a medal and a bottle of champagne!
Now we KNOW WHY giavonni wanted him so bad
Can’t wait to see him use Mew too.
i see what you did there
I'd be interested in seeing how the other four Legendaries do, especially compared to Mewtwo.
All these massive stats (good physical stats too) and it learns fucking Amnesia too. I can see why it was the most broken Pokemon in any Gen.
You have no idea how happy I am to hear someone using conquest music especially for the intro
